Come to the BESH funfair - we have a coconut shy, apple bobbing, dodgems and much much more. The prizes? Shiny new BFPs, of course. You can only go on the rides if you're a barren 30plus-er, the entrance fee is one completed BESHtionairre.

Best of luck fizz!!

FizzyFeet · 18/11/2013 22:54

Trigger shot done Grin

Looking forward to no more stabbing!

eurochick · 18/11/2013 22:55

Ah, but you have the delights of the fanny bullets to come... :)

Fabuluce · 18/11/2013 22:59

Good luck Fizz - sending you plump wombling vibes :)

FizzyFeet · 19/11/2013 08:26

Oh don't, euro! First hurdle is the voltarol suppository. As you'll know from my beshtionnaire, (b) in my book is an exit, not an entrance!

evilgiraffe · 19/11/2013 08:53

It's not that bad, fizz - and they're actually a good deal less messy using the back door. Just think of it as yet another hoop to jump through.

Was it you who was going to Oxford? Have you seen the big window so you can peer into the lab yet? I was so struck by how weird that was, poor lab staff must feel like zoo animals.

fizz I refused it (and also the antibiotics suppository they wanted to give me. I said there was enough indignity in this process without having strangers shove things up my jacksie while I am unconscious. The nurse looked a little perturbed but just wrote it on my notes. I refused it all three times. I only had 1-4 eggs retrieved, so not as many needle stabbings as some but I only had any pain at all after one of the three cycles and that was manageable with paracetemol.

I am Not A Good Patient. And I don't give a shit. It's my body, my choice.

evilgiraffe · 19/11/2013 22:03

Unconscious? I had to do the voltarol an hour or two before EC so did it myself. Funny how different clinics operate, huh? I also had pretty much zero pain (14 eggs collected), which was nice. I react well to anaesthetics and painkillers, which might have helped? HOTB didn't believe me though and mother-henned for 24 hours Grin

eurochick · 19/11/2013 22:08

At my place they would do it when you were under. It was just a step too far to have another body cavity invaded at that point.

I said I would take it and do it myself but felt fine and so didn't.

FizzyFeet · 19/11/2013 22:15

Same here, draf (yes, it's me who is at Oxford). I take lots of painkillers for chronic neck problems so always need high doses of drugs! Being off aspirin and ibuprofen (though only found out about probs ttc and taking NSAIDs a year ago Shock ) has not been fun.

I still haven't seen the "goldfish bowl" room! Maybe tomorrow. I hope for their sakes it has a one-way mirror so they can't see us all gawping as they do their thang.

evilgiraffe · 19/11/2013 22:22

That is just daft, there's no need to add to the indignities when you can it easily do it yourself!

On a (loosely) related note, both HOTB and I were singularly unimpressed by a fellow patient who came into the waiting room, saw the window into the lab and promptly squawked "ooo, that's where they make the babies!". We went into mega-British mode, all silently disapproving... Of all the damn fool unhelpful things to say - it was as if she had no awareness of/compassion for what the people around her might have been feeling/going through.

On the other hand, being barren has stripped away my sense of embarrassment/shame - very little fazes me these days. Bra fitting? Not an issue, it's hardly noticeable compared with endless dildocamming and having your legs strapped into stirrups...

evilgiraffe · 19/11/2013 22:24

Good luck for tomorrow, fizz! I hope I haven't hyped up the window too much Grin

FizzyFeet · 20/11/2013 14:29

Hey all, just back from egg collection. All seemed to go well - they got 7 eggs! Shock Don't know how many are mature but that is loads better than I had thought. Spanner in the works is that my lining is borderline - they want 6mm minimum, 8 ideally, and mine is still only 5.8. They don't think it will grow much over the next couple of days and I think are gently steering us towards freezing. We have to mak the decision tomorrow morning so I'm about to embark on a googleathon to try to get some more data. Anyone got experience of this?

euro hope you're enjoying the new car and learning how to park it !

bugs are you gearing up for a fufc marathon?

FizzyFeet · 20/11/2013 14:53

PS - finally got to see the big window! I thought of you, draf

FrankelInFoal · 20/11/2013 14:53

Well done on the eggs Fizz and fingers crossed for the lining.

eurochick · 20/11/2013 17:10

Well done fizz! Someone on the egg buddies thread had the same thing a few days ago - lining not right so advised to freeze. You might want to have a look back over the past few pages. I'm sure fertlity friends will have info too.

How do you feel?

evilgiraffe · 20/11/2013 17:52

Well done, fizz! No idea about the lining/freezing conundrum though :( I suppose if you freeze, they can stick you on mega-lining drugs, whereas if you implant now there might not be a good chance of it taking? Either way has its risks, I suppose. Fingers crossed that whichever you choose, it works.

FizzyFeet · 20/11/2013 18:54

Thanks for the tip, euro, I'll do some lurking. I'm thinking that maybe freezing is the best option, partly because I feel like shit and can't imagine my body supporting a pregnancy just now - they would be likely to go for day 2 transfer. I have been drinking lots (though was asleep for a couple of hours earlier) and peeing ok so don't think it's OHSS but I feel a bit sick and very bloated and painful Sad Still, GFBW is cooking and has made a fire, and I have a duvet, so it's not all bad.

MyNameIsWinkly · 20/11/2013 18:59

The duvet and fire sound lovely, and well done on the eggs. Good luck with whichever decision you make, no advice to give I'm afraid.

Just got the call - 5 fertilisations, and a possible extra one that they're keeping an eye on. We are bloody delighted! But given the lining issues, we are going to freeze and do a transfer in the new year. I'm a bit sad that the process has paused (and doubtless will feel a bit pants as the hcg leaves my system) but actually very relived. My early scan (if we got that far) would have fallen directly over Christmas and even though I know it's unlikely I have such a horror of another ectopic that I would have been very stressed and possibly far away from home at the crucial times.

Sorry I've been a bit me me me over the last couple of days. How is everyone else?

FizzyFeet · 21/11/2013 09:07

Terrible lack of commas at the end there Blush

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 21/11/2013 09:08

Hope all is well, Fizz and you can come to a decisions re: freezing or not! Hope you had a lovely evening, and that the embies are doing well in the dish. Cheering them on like mad!

Good luck w the scratch today, euro! I really hope it's the magic ingredient you need! And stabbing next week you say Shock Rooting for the best present for you. It's time!

What is your schedule bugs? And how are you feeling? Thinking of you!

I have an amazing pastry with me for elevenses. Can I eat it now?

FrankelInFoal · 21/11/2013 10:27

FrankelInFoal · 21/11/2013 10:28

Grr!

Totally appreciate where you are coming from on the freezing front. Best to give the embies every chance with a nice thick lining!
