This is a positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

Oh yes, and I also meant to ask: when do you do the trigger shot? Is it morning or evening or doesn't it matter?

brownstag · 16/11/2013 10:29

It's choriogonadotropin alfa. You will be told when to do it, morning or evening. I've always found the timing of the injection given quite arbitrary based on the size of the follicles. Some ladies on here have been given quite different instructions with the same sized follies. Personally I would rather not use the injection, and just let my natural LH surge do its work, as I'm quite good at pinpointing it. But there you go; that's what you pay for when you do superov.

LunaGL · 16/11/2013 11:54

Thanks Ari and Brown for all the advice. I went to H&B last night and bought Co-Q10 (they only had 200mg) but based on what you both said I guess i'll just take 3. You were right about the price!! I also got l-arginine 500mg so really do feel like a walking bottle of pills Smile. Is there a timeframe for how long to take them for?

BellyD · 16/11/2013 14:47

Welcome Shamrock although sorry you find yourself here.i hope Mr S is able to work his magic for you.

Village good luck with SO. The others have given you good advice about your scan.

AFM my otd is tomorrow but I caved in today and got a big fat bfn. We are so gutted as I secretly thought it had worked as I was getting loads of symptoms but it must have been the evil progesterone jabs and oestrogen patches. I will test again tomorrow but I am not holding out any sort of hope. I just h

BellyD · 16/11/2013 14:52

Oops posted too soon. I just honestly don't know what we'll try next. I wonder if there is any link to Candida and food intolerances as there are so many things I can't eat? Perhaps my body is just not cut out for baby making.

Sorry for the me me me post, just so sad.

Hope everyone else doing ok

duggs1976 · 16/11/2013 17:00

Oh belly.Hmm I'm so sorry for you. I know you've just a day but you would like to think there may be some kind of line . Have you considered donor eggs at serum? What do you think ?

freelancegirl · 16/11/2013 17:46

My Pred baby was a negative until 3 days after my period was due and even then only a very faint positive. Just saying!

suemays · 17/11/2013 08:43

belly I agree with freelance in that there is still a chance you might get a bfp. Have you tried clomid before as that can work when you have had no success on letrozole or ivf? You could try it whilst you decide what to do. Are you sure it's not a prob with your DH rather than you? Has he been tested for everything included hidden infections?

I have found that the cycles I have conceived I generally have no symptoms or very few so I do think the progesterone gives you false hope. Its crushing as you can't help but get excited and it makes it more upsetting when you get a bfn.

I am guessing mr n will tell you to try ivf again as they generally say around 3 cycles - would you be tempted to try again???

BellyD · 17/11/2013 08:45

Thanks, Duggs and Free. Another bfn today. Duggs perhaps DE is the way to go now. Will see what Dr N recommends. When do you start your ivf?

brownstag · 17/11/2013 09:40

Really sorry to hear that, Belly. I agree with Sue; you can't judge its effectiveness after one go. I would be in the same boat, because I can only afford one cycle and I'm sure, statistically at my age, that wouldn't work.
Free, that's interesting. You read of these things but I never thought they really happened to real people, if you know what I mean. Do you think you ovulated late that cycle or did implantation take that long?

VillageMum · 17/11/2013 11:25

Thanks *brownstag for the trigger info - it's all so interventionist, but as you say, that's what you pay for with SO.

Belly I hope you get good advice from Dr N, best of luck with whatever you decide and may you find a way forwards very soon x

Luna I believe it takes two to three months for most supplements to make a difference to your oocytes, though the l-arginine can start having an effect on lining sooner. Having said that, don't worry too much about the supps - you are young, and your eggs and lining are probably in good nick, especially if you've got pregnant easily in the past. I had DD at nearly 43 with no COQ10 or l-arginine, just prenatal vits, so who knows!

free that's fascinating, that you got a BFP three days after AF was due and that all was well. Wow. Just shows you that for some healthy pregnancies the 'test at 10 days post-ov' rule is a nonsense.

BellyD · 17/11/2013 21:00

Thanks for all your kind messages. This was our second shot at ivf and my last three unsuccessful pregnancies were either clomid or letrozole conceptions. As for DH, he as super sperm, which makes me feel even worse. Will see what the Dr suggests and try and pick ourselves up for whatever this journey holds next. I read an article about a guy yesterday whose son was born after their 9th ivf cycle...not sure I have 9 in me but we won't give up on our dream x

Good luck with the pill popping Luna

shamrock72 · 17/11/2013 21:08

Just back home from my visit to Mr S. and got my results back. Mr S said that my immune system is very strong. And that he is sure that treatment will work that we have a chance of 85% - We are soooo hoping that he is wright about this.
the test results are like this.
Endorcrinology
Prolactin 212 ( normal 102 - 496 )
Thyroid Stimulating hormone 2.77 ( normal 0.27 - 4.2 )
Free Thyroxine 13 ( normal 12.0 - 22.0)
Free T3 4.3 ( normal 3.1 - 6.8)
Thyroid perosidase ab's 62.0 ( normal 0 - 34 )
Thyroid antibodies
Thyroglobulin antibody 739.0 normal 1 - 115)
Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies 57.5 ( normal 0 - 34 )
Antinuclear antibodies Negative
NK cell count absolute 311.9
Activation Marker of NK cell 0.60

He put me on the NK cell treatment programme
and waiting for last blood tests to come back to find out if I do need the Heparin ..etc

All new to me have started now with the Prednisolone for this cycle on top of all the vitamins I was already taking for the last couple of years with the addition of the 50 mcg of D3

Is there anything regarding nutrition that I should or shouldn't do??

duggs1976 · 18/11/2013 07:05

Belly don't give up! One thing I've witnessed with the IVF route is that each cycle they discover more about how you respond and can tailor it accordingly so they can get the optimum quality of eggs out of you. At ARGC it seems 90 percent of women are treated for immune issues which leads me to believe in many cases the over active immune system is much more common than we think and some unlucky ladies who experience a series of miscarriages trigger the immune system somehow and get caught in a catch 22. Does explain why so many of us have high killer cells and why standard suppression of those cells doesn't always seem to work even with chromosonally tested embryos (as in my case) because high nk cells is only a bi product of another (other) issue(s). Will you stay at zita west belly?

duggs1976 · 18/11/2013 07:06

Oh and shamrock best of luck to you. Some people say cut down on dairy and wheat but 2 years on and no baby i don't really follow that as made no difference to me!

brownstag · 18/11/2013 15:36

... A real wtf cycle for me this month. Firstly, it's the first time I've kind of missed an LH surge with ov sticks; normally I have 2 or 3 days of strong lines. This time on day 13 (my earliest ever) I had an 'almost positive' test, dtd anyway, and then was surprised to get a sustained temperature shift. It's now 7dpo and I have spotting. This cycle is too strange for me to think it's implantation spotting, so I'm fully expecting a short luteal phase and for AF to come tomorrow morning. Sigh.

brownstag · 18/11/2013 15:38

I should start using progesterone tonight, but I don't want to mask a short luteal phase and delay my new cycle if this one's a write-off. What to do?

brownstag · 18/11/2013 15:44

Shamrock, meant to say, Mr S got me to follow a strict gluten free diet in pregnancy because my mum has coeliac disease even though I tested negative for it.

shamrock72 · 18/11/2013 20:00

Thanks Thanks for your kind messages Belly - Brownstag and Duggs as you all know we can only wait now. Time will tell

brownstag · 19/11/2013 09:56

My cousin who is 4 years younger than me has just announced her pregnancy with her second child. She was just about to start IVF. They've been trying for 4 years and had several chemicals before now. I've always suspected an immune problem but she's never been tested. Am really pleased for her but also very sad for myself this morning.

Arianrhod · 19/11/2013 10:19

brown Big, big hugs for you, I know exactly how you feel. My cousin just had her baby (third child) last week, her eldest is the same age as my DD. And my OH's niece is 2 weeks ahead in her pregnancy than I should have been with this last one that went wrong. We see OH's family very regularly and they are so excited about the baby.

You wish them well, of course you do, but at the same time it's so damn hard :( . Hope it's your turn soon, and the waiting will all have been worth it!

VillageMum · 19/11/2013 13:57

brownstag hope AF hasn't arrived for you today after all. Sending you hope and courage.

Luna, hope your follie scan went well!

Shamrock, wonderful that you have a diagnosis and an action plan.

Team, how are you doing this week?

May things change for the better for all of us very soon. It can happen!

teamdozie · 19/11/2013 17:14

Hi everyone! brown hang in there! I've just found out that two girls I know are pregnant with number two! My baby would have been the same age as their first one! It hurts that they are on number 2 and I can't even get to number 1!!

Village I'm good thanx. Wishing the time away to get my results back! How are you?

Quick question. I seem to be extremely spotty this time round! Not sure if it's the steroids or the cyclogest. Has anyone else got that! baking not sure when your twelve week scan is but hope it is all fantastic for you!! Keep us posted!

Xx

BellyD · 19/11/2013 18:02

Sorry Brown, Ari and Team, it is so hard when others are pregnant or on their second when you are still struggling and it takes such an effort to put on a brave face. Fingers crossed for your wtf cycle Brown.

I went to see a friend yesterday who's just had her first and it was really tough/bad timing however happy you are for them. Feeling rough coming off the drugs. Sad. I read a good quote today that I thought might help us all "You're not in control of what happens to you, but you are in control of how you react to what happens to you." Considering what we've all been through, I don't think we're holding up too badly xxx

Bakingtins · 19/11/2013 18:04

Thank you team scan is on Thursday at the RMC clinic then if it's ok I have an OSCAR screen the week after.
