HI all...its been awile since i've been on but i basically had given up on ttc. Now....my question! I had just ovulated a couple of days ago...i think and i've been kind of nashious lately so i decided to take a test last night. Well i had a very faint positive reading. I took another one today and it said neg ( mind you there wasn't much pee to come out). Could the first one just have been a mistake , and can you even read a pos this quickly.

i dont know if i am ovulating regularly or not. We have been ttc for 4 cys now and my AF has been mixed up the past 3 so I really dont know if and when I Ov. Lord.....i had just convinced myself that I didn't want to get preg ....it never fails eh! Always something to get your hopes up and then let them crash. CRAP!

Were they the same brand - I had different results from different types - clearblue negative, first response positive... I was pregnant but only just.
As twiglett says a positive test is a positive test... you do need a luteal stage of at least 9 to 10 days though.. are you sure you ovulated so recently.. were you going by temperature/ewm (or is that more information than you want to share?)
Do another go on...... would love to be able to congratulate you.

the first test that i did last night was a different brand than today. I did two today and both were neg. Can it be possible to show a pos even before emplantation? It has been 14 days today sine AF.The test that i did last night didn't show pos right away. I checked this morning and it showed. I know that there is such a thing as saturation lines but there was blue in the line, just really faint. I dont dare get my hopes up yet....

Melliek, bless you, I know how tempting it is to keep testing, we are both so desperate to see a wonderfully clear positive. I really hope you do. You should really leave it for a few days before testing again (says she who has spent a fortune on testing too early for the last 3 years).

Hi Melliek! Is it really only 14 days since last AF????? If so then you haven't yet had a luteal phase as others have said and it would be impossible to know you are pg as the egg wouldn't have implanted yet and start producing HCG. Sorry if I'm off here, just going off what you have told us. The earliest you'll get a positive is 10-11 days after fertilisation.
However, it is possible to mistake AF for an implantation bleed you know!!! Could this have been the case with you perhaps???
A possible reason for your faint positive is the fact that there may still be LH in your body if you just ov'd and this I've been told can cross with the stuff in the pgcy test to make a positive.
I am really hoping (if this is what you want of course) that you are!!

If you could read a positve so soon after ov. But, obviously you cant so ....the last Af was defiantly an AF, no slight spotting there, trust me! Oh well, gotta get my mind set again on not ttc and just go with the flow. Its hard....

I think you were amazing doing it this time - taking your mind off it! I couldn't! You just never know though M, getting pg how it will turn out! Did you keep your test stick?

Had a very very faint positive result. Telephoned the helpline on the box (clear blue) and was informed that if you have a positive result, no matter how faint, it means your pg. DD asleep upstairs, now 8 months old!!! Good luckxx

yes but is it possible for it to show so quickly??
has this ever happened to anyone before? I would have just finished ov.

what does af mean?

How lomg do you have to wait after an implantation bleed to test?

Any news yet, Melliek??

HCG is detected by the home pgcy test only after the egg has implanted in the womb about 6-10 days after fertilisation. It is the implanted egg that triggers the HCG to be produced and then doubles every 36-48 hrs or thereabouts. So that's why most pgcy tests say a positive will be acheived 14 days after and some are sucessful at 10 or 11 days after.HTH

do you mean 10-14 days after fertilisation, or after implantation. quackers??

and i am a real dimbo I guess, but I've worked our af means period, but what does it stand for, out of curiosity?

isn't it right that you can't test till your period is due? Is that, on average day 28, and ovulation, on average is day 14, so does that make implatation around day 20 ish???

Sorry, getting a bit obsessed on your behalf, melleik! good luck

Webmum, the only explanation I can think of is you were pg but the embryo failed to implant properly and consequently you had a very early miscarriage. This is my hunch looking at your message, I have no idea at all if I am correct. I hope I am not and that someone can offer a more optimistic explanation.

bunny2 this is what I thought, but should I not be bleeding then?

Also I once had an ectopic pregnancy and the test was positive for quite a long time as there was still enough HGC to be detected....
I'm getting a bit scared now....

Can you ask for an early scan or is it too early? I really wish I could say something to convince you it will all be ok but I cant. I'll have my fingers crossed though that it is all fine.
