Welcome Frog!! Happy hols Aquarius and sorry you're feeling rough Bunny. Question to those of you that temp: does it mean anything if your post OV temps are lower than normal? Am 3dpo I think and def above cover line but average is 36.7 where it's usually around 36.9?

Frogcatcher · 07/03/2013 12:19

Thanks Happylass. I'm only just coming out of my little bubble in which i thought that TTC over 35 would be a piece of cake given half of my friends seemed to get pg on honeymoon so not started temping yet I'm afraid. Would people recommend this sooner rather than later? I'd been relying on an iphone app to know when i was ov till i realised that cycles were not as regular as i thought! doh! Start my first ovk next week. i've bought the basic Boots 7 day POAS - is this ok to start with or should i invest the £100 on a full system? This is a whole new world i didn't even know existed & could really do with some help. Getting AF this month really upset me for the first time as I was late & convinced i was having all the early pg symptoms. Been massively emotional since Sat & though OH is sympathetic I don't want to push his limits too early!

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/03/2013 12:50

frog please don't spend £100!
Use these instead. I would recommend temping too, as OPKs do not confirm ovulation, whereas temping does. Therefore OPKs and temping used together will help predict your fertile days and confirm you ovulated. Use Fertility Friend to chart your temps and OPK results and you will soon have a clearer view of your normal cycle and/or be pregnant! Ask all the questions you want, everyone has to start somewhere and we will be happy to help

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/03/2013 12:51

happy I'm off to investigate...

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/03/2013 12:58

Only thing I can find happy is that it can be indicative of low progesterone. Although temp rise post O can be as small as 0.2 so it could just be one of those cycles. Unless your time of temp/central heating/window open/different duvet or mattress etc have caused it

Frogcatcher · 07/03/2013 13:03

Thanks Merkin for the tips. Isn't it awful to know so little about how your own body works?! Can't believe i spent 20 years of my life worrying about getting pg & now it is so bloody difficult. Just to make matters worse the OH's niece is currently pg accidentally at 18. Life can be so unfair!

Bunnygirlie · 07/03/2013 13:03

Thanks ladies, sorry to be a whingebag, all i seem to do on here is moan!

Welcome frog !!!

OP posts:
Frogcatcher · 07/03/2013 14:09

Thanks Bunny. Hope you feel better soon. Fertility Friend app now downloaded & established cycles vary between 25 and 31 days (though this month's 31 is a bit of an odd one as all others been 25-29). No wonder I've not necessarily been dtd on the right days! Next step OPK & temping & hopefully it will work & I'll be cursing you lot for giving me a baby near Xmas Grin I am always the optimist.

PowderPuffs · 07/03/2013 14:15

Hi Frog sorry to hear about your late AF, so frustrating isn't it - I've had 2 since TTC and you can't help thinking THIS IS IT! Agh.
Another vote here for those cheapy OV sticks, I've found them so easy to use, and the cheapness is one less thing to get pissed off about!
I plan to start temping if this cycle doesn't work out - lots of recommendations on here.

Hope you feel better soon Bunny.

Frogcatcher · 07/03/2013 14:34

Thanks Powder. Cheapie OV sticks now ordered too. What I also need to do is book a dentist appointment. You'll probably all think i am completely mental but on Sunday we were talking about going to the dentist with loads of OH's family & when i say i need to go his 8 year old pipes up from nowhere that the next time i go the dentist he'll tell me I'm pregnant! Such a bizarre thing to say that everyone just kind of ignored it but from the mouths of babes... Anyone else as crazily superstitious about this kind of thing as me?!!

Frogcatcher · 07/03/2013 14:41

PS none of OH's family know that we're trying. They're all v close, share TMI all the time & his mum, two sisters & grown up niece with 3 kids all seem to get pregnant at the drop of a hat at any age & are all baby obsessed. They grilled OH when i wore a top that made my (sm) boobs look bigger once...

happylass · 07/03/2013 15:46

Thanks Merkin. Had progesterone tested last month and was fine then. Been feeling a bit sniffy this week so maybe that. Although surely that would make it higher? Will stop obsessing now and just see what happens!

ILoveMyCats · 07/03/2013 16:39

Hello all, . Got a GP appointment for this evening, finally! Cd80& feeling sick and fainty again. Grrrr. Not doing any more poas until cd 86 as that would be double my last cycle. Perhaps irrational, but also hoping af comes before that. Going to ask for referral to gynaecologist today. See how that goes. Then accupuncture tomorrow.

I love obem and always blub when every baby is born. The woman with depression got me thinking last night. Although I've been off meds since July, I do worry that my depression will return if I get pg as the hormones will go mad. Anyhoo, cross bridges when I come to them.....maybe.
Had to break into our living room this morning as the bolt got stuck. I hate mornings!

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/03/2013 17:27

cats give that doctor a kicking! Found this which mentions 2 very effective drugs for treatment... Demand them! www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/7252445/

Bunnygirlie · 07/03/2013 18:44

Evening all!

Quick question - hubby has jizz test tomorrow, how long till he gets results do you think?

OP posts:
Boodle9 · 07/03/2013 19:09

Hi everyone, especially new people! Busy week over here (doubt I was missed but I'll pretend I was at it makes me feel loved and special); very glad it's Friday tomorrow!

Bunny, when my DH had his SA, I think they told him to give it a week before he rang the doctors for them.

cherrycoconut · 07/03/2013 19:16

Wow Merkin that's a fascinating article, thanks so much for posting! It gives so many options as to why things might be awry that I never considered.

Go get 'em Cats - fingers crossed for you.

You guys have inspired me and I've rung the doctor and picked up a form for a blood test tonight. I'm being sent for FSH, LH, Testosterone and Sex hormone binding globulin??! There's no indication of when to go though - I'm guessing with my none cycle it doesn't really matter. Can anyone shed any light?

Welcome Frog yay, another temper... that was a quick conversion Merkin :)
