Our new home, hope we will all be very unhappy here and leave soon ;-)

I also have the outing fear!
Am 35 and also a teacher, secondary for me though. DP is also 35 and a professional sports coach. Getting married I. August 2014. Have a very lovely house which we bought from new last year. It won't be a forever house though as, although its very nice, I've since decided that I prefer an older style house! Plan is to stay here a few years then look for more of a 'family' home.

happylass · 03/03/2013 20:03

in not I.

Boodle9 · 03/03/2013 20:19

Since quite a few of us are nervous of outing ourselves, perhaps we need to go back to the 'random facts about ourselves' theme that we had a little while ago on our stats list. However, these ones don't need to be related to the TTC theme; they can be completely random!

I can start - I never used to be one of 'those' women, and I feel quite strongly about the unrealistic portrayal of women and men in the media. However, I am ridiculously attracted to the man in the new diet coke advert! (Am blaming ovulation and horny hormones kicking in...)

Tallyra · 03/03/2013 20:20

Heya. I'm 33 and a reprographics technician in a school. married with 1 dog and 3 ferrets, and we've just had a hell of a lot of work done in our house so although I don't think this is our forever home, we are going to be here for a while!! my hobby is textiles art and making quilts, so currently have one entire room in the house dedicated to sewing and fabric storage. not sure what will happen if when we have a baby though!

cherrycoconut · 03/03/2013 20:22

Good idea Bunny though I have to admit I'm gonna do a Barking and Boodle and skirt the edges... Not sure I've entirely admitted it to myself, never mind anyone else that we're TTC!

I'm 33, DP and I have been married 2.5 yrs, but together for 11 + years, eek! he's 39 and I think his clock's ticking faster than mine all of a sudden! I work in marketing and am a workaholic doing a job I love. We're renovating a house that we bought just before we got married while living in it which is hard but occasionally very satisfying. We should have shares in B&Q. Hopefully it will be worth it in the end!

cherrycoconut · 03/03/2013 20:24

Oh my formatting didn't work. Pants!

PowderPuffs · 03/03/2013 20:36

Evening everyone. I actually can't think of any random facts, think I'm addled with cold! So here are some vague factual facts -

I'm 31, DP is 32 and we've been together 4 years.
We're not too settled where we live so will hopefully relocate soon, depending on this TTC malarkey.
I've noticed lots of cat owners on here! We have 1 big lazy cat as that's all I'm allowed, but with The Power of Nag I'm hoping to add more soon.

Tally your sewing room sounds LOVELY!

Boodle9 · 03/03/2013 20:41

Hmm...maybe it's the cats that are stopping us from getting knocked up?! They do like to be centre of attention after all, perhaps they have some kind of contraceptive power of their owners?!

PowderPuffs · 03/03/2013 20:53

You might be onto something Boodle - they're probably plotting against us, like on that milk ad where the cats grow thumbs Hmm

Boodle9 · 03/03/2013 20:55

Or like this: theoatmeal.com/comics/cat_kill

ILoveMyCats · 03/03/2013 21:02

Evening! As you probably expect, I too have cats....
I'm a teacher, posing as a TA after a breakdown two years ago (waited to get off the meds before ttc). Am nearly 32, DH is 31. We've been together for 6.5 years, married for 2.5. We live in a nice house, which we have been updating for the past two years. I like it enough for now.
tally, so sorry about your experiences and sickness. The girl I mentioned did have to be hospitalised too. While I really sympathise with her, I still think it was an insensitive thing to say to someone who had just told her how desperate she was to have a baby.

ILoveMyCats · 03/03/2013 21:07

Love it boodle! Also the grammar comics....misused apostrophes bother me endlessly.

haycorn · 03/03/2013 21:13

Evening all! Have just spent the weekend with inlaws, including pregnant SiL, and found it so much harder than I thought I would. So I am very happy to come back on here with people who understand and don't make me feel crazy! Reading through your posts, there are loads of us teachers on here. Do you think there's something in that? Maybe spending your day trying to educate the little buggers creates a natural contraception in some people?!

Boodle9 · 03/03/2013 21:15

Ha! I hadn't looked at the grammar section but I am loving that too! Brilliant for teaching Literacy (but maybe not to my age group).

Boodle9 · 03/03/2013 21:24

So hay, what you're saying is that we spend so much of our time tolerating teaching other people's little nuisances angels, that our bodies are just screaming out "Nooooooo! Don't do it!" Then, for good measure, we cat owners come home to have our little furballs lie on our stomachs and whisper menacing threats to our uteri!

No wonder I'm not pregnant yet!

I see my random fact idea sank like a lead balloon...no matter though; the diet coke advert just came on! (Dirty old lady-perv emoticon)

ILoveMyCats · 03/03/2013 21:27

Still trying to think of a random fact, boodle. I'm really boring!

PowderPuffs · 03/03/2013 21:29

HAAA Boodle that blog is too funny! The staring does make me wonder sometimes...

Haycorn that sounds really tough, I hope it won't be a regular occurrence!

ILoveMyCats · 03/03/2013 21:38

haycorn welcome back to the sofa!
My MIL has taken to asking if we would get rid of our cats if we have children! My SIL (her daughter), has 1 ds and I expect will be pg again soon as they make no secret of any of it and want 3. They conceived very quickly, perfect pg and birth....at least my MIL always says 'if' we have kids, rather than the 'whens' my SIL uses about herself.

Obviously we would keep cats come what may. They were kittens when I had my breakdown and spent every day snuggled up to me.

Bunnygirlie · 03/03/2013 21:47

I cannot stand people who get rid of their furr babies when they get non-furry ones!

boodle Less random fact, more old lady perve, the man of my lusts at the mo is Dean from Supernatural mmmmmmm

OP posts:
MotherOfCleo · 03/03/2013 21:50

I never get that love why do some people think pets and kids dont mix? I mean, yes our 18 month old dog will complicate matters when we have a young baby but we are her family, being with us in our house is all she knows, I could never be without her or the cat. This house wouldnt feel like home without them here. Also I want my kids to grow up with animals, so they respect them and grow up to be animals lovers. Smile

What a random thing for your MIL to say. Hmm

MotherOfCleo · 03/03/2013 21:51

bunny im with you on that one, dean is gorgeous! Imagine the fun to be had on the back seat of that car lolWink

Boodle9 · 03/03/2013 21:55

Have never seen it, but a quick google tells me "Yes please!" (I always have to check their age on IMDB too...I'm worried about perving on men who are far too young for me!)

I would NEVER get rid of my furry wonders! They are part of the family. Don't think they'd be too bothered by a baby either - last time a guest visited with a baby it (the baby) was howling and they (the cats) slept right on through!

Pipbin · 03/03/2013 21:56

Well I guess I'd better out myself as another teacher. Are we all teachers here? I teach Reception.
I'm 37 and been married to DH for 10 years. We have recently sold our house and are at that horrid point where we are all sitting around waiting for everyone to get their stuff together and exchange contracts.

MotherOfCleo · 03/03/2013 21:57

the cat just looks unimpressed when friends babies cry, he likes to sleep in the room with them to keep an eye on them though. The dogs really good (thank god) she does lots of sniffing then brings all her toys for them to play with Grin

barkingtreefrog · 03/03/2013 22:15

Sod my short luteal phase, it seems my occupation is the reason I've not got my BFP!!!!! This thread is very much over-represented by those who work in schools!!
Anyway, Boodle, a random fact about me.... I once had a pet hamster called Archimedes. Took me ages to think of anything that wouldn't immediately identify me to anyone who knew me!!!
