Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

The ongoing search for BFPs now leads the BESH to the barren polar wastes, in the footsteps of Scott, Shackleton and Franklin.

Pack those reindeer sleeping bags, huskies and skis - we're off to the Antarctic to look for our BFPs. Unlike Scott, we'll eat the poniez if necessary (topical joke). Let's huddle together through the Antarctic night and we'll try not to kidnap one of the emperor penguin toddlers for our very own. Bring on blizzards, pack ice, shipwreck, attacking leopard seals, voyages across the Southern Ocean in rowing boats and hazardous traverses of South Georgia in search of rescue - just like the Shackleton expedition, NO BESH WILL BE LEFT BEHIND.

(do I win the prize for most random fred ever?)

Lovely pic, Frank :)

EuroShaggleton · 01/03/2013 21:05

Nice work Norf. I am longing for a large glass of rich velvety red, but won't let myself have it because of the minute chance that this will somehow turn out ok. Silly really, but it's hard to give up on emBarryo while he is still hanging on in there.

This has been a fucker of a day for so many of us. I am very glad it is nearly over.

Northey · 02/03/2013 05:54

Official bfn on the official test kit on the official day. As expected, really. I'm so glad I have been testing early. I'd hate to have been spending all this time imagining the opposite result.

Scaldingly hot bath today for me, I think. I wonder if I can abandon the blasted pessaries...

JethroTull · 02/03/2013 06:53

So sorry for the terrible day yesterday ESH.

Norf do you have anything nice planned for today?

Northey · 02/03/2013 07:04

Non decaf coffee for breakfast. A boiling hot bath to get the bastard fanny candle residue properly off me. Something nice for dinner tonight with lots of wine. I might also buy some killer stuff to sort out the oven.

JethroTull · 02/03/2013 07:31

Sounds like a good day apart from the oven cleaning.

maamalady · 02/03/2013 08:25

Oh, norf :(

Northey · 02/03/2013 08:44

The oven is so hideous, jeff, that it will actually afford me massive pleasure to get it sorted.

Some brown gunk is starting to appear. I guess this is pre-menstruality then.

Don't think I fancy calling the clinic. I might use their email option instead.

EuroShaggleton · 02/03/2013 09:22

Sorry about the arctic stick Norf. Email sounds like a good option.

I'm now going to end up spending the day alone. Prior to everything going wrong, KFZK had booked shooting with the guy we usually shoot with. I declined, partly because I hate the cold and partly because even though Dr Google says shooting when pg is fine, I just wasn't convinced. I was due to go round to best friend's, have a catch up with her and celebrate the birthday of her 2 yr old twins. She has just emailed to say her other child has come down with the squits this morning and she is worried it is noro, so has advised me to stay away. KFZK has offered many times to cancel his plans, but I think it will do him good.

Other than the 4 good friends who knew about IVF from the beginning, I have managed to avoid telling anyone what is going on, but I think I am likely to have to tell a couple of senior people (men) at work. I have now been put down for two big work trips - one short haul the week after next and possibly the US the week after that. Both would be really full on. If I make it as far as next Thursday's scan without bleeding, and stop the progesterone then, that would probably leave me miscarrying during work trip#1, which would be stupid, so I am probably going to have to tell them. Unless it happens in the next few days and I am over the worst by then.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 02/03/2013 10:04

Norf I'm so sorry about the negative stick. Tell the clinic in whatever want feels best for you.

Euro, have an easy day. Watch some trashy tv and eat lots of crap.

I'm off to my counselling appointment soon, fingers crossed she doesn't think I'm a total nutter!

Northey · 02/03/2013 10:24

She won't, frank! My gp was very clear about the difference between responding emotionally to a situation (a normal and desirable reaction) and proper nutterhood (though obviously she didn't call it that).

Northey · 02/03/2013 10:26

euro, is it too late for you to join the bangy throng? Might be a good distracting thing to do. I'm planning to get back on a horse as soon as I get back near a stables. Though I have put on so much weight I am probably technically over their limit now Blush Poor horses.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 02/03/2013 10:33

Ah fuckstix, Norf :( :( :( So sorry about the final outcome. Be nice to yourself.

I'm sure there'll be a horse up to the task as well.

Hugs and fishslaps to you Euro and you Frank. And what the heck, to you too BugsyMalone.

I considered it Norf but I really wasn't in the mood. I'm going to go for a really hard run in a minute (however fast I go it will be really hard as I haven't been for one since before egg collection!) to see if putting my body under some physical stress might kick things off. Probably not, but it's worth a go. I just want it over now. I woke up crampy again this morning, so I know that it is just a matter of time.

Proper proper shit. I am really sorry.

Norf pay someone to do your oven, it's only about £40. And sit and drink wine whilst watching them. Preferably with two fingers up.

Euro pay someone to do your run for you. And sit and drink wine while they are out. Preferably with two fingers up.

SinkyMalinks · 02/03/2013 11:33

Sorry guys. Life can be really shit.

Things are not great in sinky world, hence absence, but I'm thinking of you guys.

I highly reccomendation a hard run Euro. Plugging myself into an iPod and running and running (and running) is the only thing keeping me sane I think. And no. It doesn't matter how fast/far/pretty.

Northey · 02/03/2013 11:49

Oven is simmering evilly under a blanket of chemicals. Bathroom has been scrubbed. Hair has been washed and hard skin removed from feet. Millions of pairs of AMNH's pants have been retrieved from around the house (no, I have no idea what crazy undressing routine he follows when I'm not here) and put in a wash. Now back in bed.

EuroShaggleton · 02/03/2013 11:52

Cass I like your style.

Sinky I'm just back. Run was good. Just what I needed. And I got to give my brand new running jacket a go (it was ordered weeks ago but turned up just after my BFP so was unused). I obviously don't look quite as shit as I feel - I got eyed up by some dude driving one of those Audi super car thingummies. And now I can eat as much chocolate as I like, cos thems the rules.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 02/03/2013 12:07

When you're feeling miserable, do housework. You'll still feel miserable, but at least you have a clean house.

A Universal Truth.

OP posts:
Northey · 02/03/2013 12:11

Exactly, rierie, and a grubby house contributes to my feeling miserable anyway, so I might as well remove that source of woe.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 02/03/2013 12:16

Just so, so sorry hags. Thinking of you all especially the cleaned ovens.
I am ready to go back to bed. Have been out for breakfast, tidying and airing the house, done a load of laundry and headache alert my administration. Why is that so tedious?

RaspberrySnowCone · 02/03/2013 14:36

So sorry for all the shitness ladies

TTC really is appalling shit.

Sorry to hear you're having a shitter of a time too sinks. Anything that having a vent here will help? If not just have some (((((((hugs))))))

I have yet another hangover so am basically in lazy bitch mode on the sofa Hmm I should be doing a serious amount of course work and I just want to fall asleep! I think I'm done with drinking for a fees now so at least it's out of my system.

RaspberrySnowCone · 02/03/2013 14:37

For a fees?? Obviously I meant for a few weeks.

RaspberrySnowCone · 02/03/2013 15:01

Pretty sure I'm expecting another pregnancy announcement in the next couple of weeks. A friend of mine has gone a bit off radar. Probably trying to work out how to break it to the barren of the group.
