The ongoing search for BFPs now leads the BESH to the barren polar wastes, in the footsteps of Scott, Shackleton and Franklin.

Pack those reindeer sleeping bags, huskies and skis - we're off to the Antarctic to look for our BFPs. Unlike Scott, we'll eat the poniez if necessary (topical joke). Let's huddle together through the Antarctic night and we'll try not to kidnap one of the emperor penguin toddlers for our very own. Bring on blizzards, pack ice, shipwreck, attacking leopard seals, voyages across the Southern Ocean in rowing boats and hazardous traverses of South Georgia in search of rescue - just like the Shackleton expedition, NO BESH WILL BE LEFT BEHIND.

(do I win the prize for most random fred ever?)

Dr Christian COMPLETELY weirds me out.

I am fascinated by his hair

RaspberrySnowCone · 26/02/2013 22:15

Have you seen him with his top off? Ripped as hell. Funny looking expressions though and I follow him on Twitter, he seems a bit of a cock.

TWinklyLittleStar · 26/02/2013 22:23

I may have fallen out with him on Twitter once upon a time... I used to fancy him but someone said he looked like a giant ant and they were right, and that is the kind of thing that cannot be unseen.

Have any of you had AMH levels tested? If yes, NHS or private? (Massive subject change I know. Sorry)

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 26/02/2013 22:29

He's gay.

I've had mine done. It's extraordinarily low.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 26/02/2013 22:29

Nhs.

I am only just barely under the "obese" BMI threshold - although I doubt people would guess that from looking at me. Being solidly built and short does you no favours with the BMI scale. I don't watch super vs programme though, so all is well.

I've not had my AMH levels tested, Twink, though it is something I may ask about when we go for our appointment next month (only a fortnight away now, hurrah!).

maamalady · 26/02/2013 22:34

Did you have to request the AMH test, rie, or was it offered/suggested to you?

TWinklyLittleStar · 26/02/2013 22:52

I had read that the NHS doesn't normally test amh.

What exactly is your appointment for draf?

I ought to go to bed but am comfy on the sofa.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 26/02/2013 22:56

It was something they tested after I'd been referred. Must have been one of the batches of blood they took.

OP posts:
maamalady · 26/02/2013 22:59

I have no clue, Twink, I'm only the patient, why would they tell me anything useful Hmm The letter said gynae clinic, the lady on the phone and the appt confirmation letter said something along the lines of infertility blah is best if both partners attend. I'm assuming it's an IVF initial appointment as we have been referred, but it could just be a five minute "we've got the referral, come back in six months" waste of time.

TWinklyLittleStar · 26/02/2013 23:04

Keeps you on your toes draf Hmm Good luck with whatever it is!

How's your buzzwams rie?

I am impressed by how quickly we're filling this fred, and how we've even managed to vaguely stick with the feem.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 26/02/2013 23:06

You'll need to be prepared for that Draf. I had two of those. It's a long old ride.

CatsCantFlyFast · 26/02/2013 23:14

Have the BESHes thoughts on the next fred? I need time to say goodbye to the huskies and penguins and whales and get into character

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 26/02/2013 23:16

Oh we have a while yet.

I don't think I've exploited this feem enough.

I may be gone some time.

Arctic again at 13dp EC. But if it is going to be negative on official test day as well then at least I'm prepared for it.

RaspberrySnowCone · 27/02/2013 07:13

I've had my AmH tested but I don't know result. The hospital did it as the last test before referral. Might try and find out from GP this week perhaps.

I sometimes think a baby penguin would be a good substitute for a real life baybee? Or a puppy. More and more a puppy.

Euro when do you have a scan?

Northy how are you doing deary?

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 27/02/2013 07:14

Norf lovely, is it a good idea to test every day like this? .

Northey · 27/02/2013 07:19

No but having started I don't think I can stop.

Northey · 27/02/2013 07:24

Am going to superdrug today. Their tests are more sensitive than stupid Boots' ones.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 27/02/2013 07:46

Have you thought about using the old trick of peeing on an already used stick, just to get it out of your system? (Literally and metaphorically)

I get why you are doing it, but I'm not convinced it is good for you.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 27/02/2013 08:49

I love frank's trick but do you keep used negative sticks? I always bury them deep in snow!

But listen here norfy. I always say to myself: excessive testing is not going to change the result and is just making you go mad in the meantime. So step away from the sticks til OTD. And have some penguin chicks

Sorry I missed the telly fun last night. SB was home really late, so I whinged abotu that. Then we watched the news and did the sechsing see if I can get diffed on my hardboiled SO eggs so I missed Dr Chris. He seems a twat.

Happy to have Zara join us but are they definitely TTC?

And AMH, not me twink. They did count my AFC a few times (and between 16 adn 20 that is indicative of appropriate levels of eggs and hormones).

EuroShaggleton · 27/02/2013 10:07

Norf the sogginess is pessary. They are vile. TMI warning I keep getting odd liquidy gushes as well that soaks through pads and underwear. I am now only wearing black, just in case. I have constipation caused piles too, so the back door is not really a good option either. Gotta love IVF.

That is true about me getting diffed without actual penetration quite a lot of other foof traffic was involved though .

rasp how can you be over healthy BMI???

Norf darling, it's lovely of you to keep adding arctic sticks to keep on theme, but probably not good for your head to keep testing? Sorry about the BFN.

I had my AMH tested privately (I didn't particularly want it done but the dr suggested it when I was getting other blood tests so I went along with it). It was in the low fertility range but not that low and the gynae tossed it aside and said it was fine for my age (it was 12.something and I was just under 36 when it it was tested). My antral follie count and FSH levels were good though, so everyone has pretty much ignored the AMH score.

I missed the telly fun too last night. We were at the theatre, seeing One Man, Two Guvnors for KFZK's birfday. It was really funny. It was a late night for me though - I crashed out as soon as we got home.

I am 6 weeks today. Eek.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 27/02/2013 10:26

While we're on the subject, AMH indicates ovarian RESERVE, doesn't it, rather than quality or otherwise of what you have left. Mine is very, very low, but the FSH level was normal. Which is odd.
Or is it?

My dickhead consultant said my AMH was in the low range, which was why we needed to get moving. Looking through the notes I see it's listed as
