Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

The ongoing search for BFPs now leads the BESH to the barren polar wastes, in the footsteps of Scott, Shackleton and Franklin.

Pack those reindeer sleeping bags, huskies and skis - we're off to the Antarctic to look for our BFPs. Unlike Scott, we'll eat the poniez if necessary (topical joke). Let's huddle together through the Antarctic night and we'll try not to kidnap one of the emperor penguin toddlers for our very own. Bring on blizzards, pack ice, shipwreck, attacking leopard seals, voyages across the Southern Ocean in rowing boats and hazardous traverses of South Georgia in search of rescue - just like the Shackleton expedition, NO BESH WILL BE LEFT BEHIND.

(do I win the prize for most random fred ever?)

That'll be me someday :(

CaptainMollingtonCholmondeley · 23/02/2013 13:20

I'm starting worry it'll be me too Hmm Though I think I'm more likely to end up with hundreds of dogs and cats instead. I will be the Mad Cat Lady..

RaspberrySnowCone · 23/02/2013 13:34

I think I'm going to go all out miss Havisham style if I can't have any babies by the age of 50. I've already started to collect cobwebs in preparation.

RaspberrySnowCone · 23/02/2013 14:17

Yeah, tis an excuse. I am exceedingly lazy when it comes to house work. I hate it.

TWinklyLittleStar · 23/02/2013 14:23

Me too. I am considering getting a cleaner, even though I only live in a 2 bedroom flat.

RaspberrySnowCone · 23/02/2013 14:55

I probably shouldn't admit this but my Mum cleans my house for me. She does a run through on a Friday morning so everything is nice and clean when I get home so I don't have to worry about sorting stuff out on the weekend when I need to get my head down to course work.

Tis perfect for both of us really cuz is extra spending money for her and a nice clean house for me :) simples

I know this is exceptionally lazy but I don't care.

CaptainMollingtonCholmondeley · 23/02/2013 15:46

In the (slightly mis-remembered) words of the great Quentin Crisp:

"Housewives, hold your nerve; after the first four years the dust simply doesn't get any worse!"

EuroShaggleton · 23/02/2013 16:29

Norf she is very commercially successful. I don't think she is an academic megabrain, but is clearly bright enough. She has a bizarre lack of empathy though, that comes through in almost everything she writes. I (and others) have often wondered whether she is on the spectrum or something.

Must. Not. Go. Back. To. That. Fred.

Rie you probably want to see someone who knows what they are doing around fertility as you don't want them doing something unhelpful in the 2ww or whatever.

The resussababy sounds useful. I could practice dropping it on its head, to see how easy they are to break and stuff. I am so clumsy I am capable of falling off the floor so I hope they are pretty hardy. My paediatrician friend posted a picture on FB of some sort of resuss model montage this week, including a couple of babies.

I haven't done any cleaning in years (that's not quite true - I do things like clean the oven or the fridge once in a blue moon). I've had cleaners for almost 10 years now. I am quite a tidy person but I hate cleaning. The current one isn't great (never moves things or cleans behind them) but she irons, so I am hanging on to her.

I've been out getting some culchure (of sorts) - at the Wildlife Photography exhibition at the NHM. It was basically child hell but with prebooked tickets we could pass straight through the crowds, thankfully. And then I went shopping to try to by some "disguise the flabby stage" clothes but couldn't find anything. My usual style is tailored and I am finding it difficult to find less fitted stuff that suits me. So I gave up.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 23/02/2013 16:48

Surely you won't them yet, Euro? I went to that exhibition recently. I enjoyed it muchly especially the penguin photos, obviously.

First aid is finished now. It didn't cover barreness.

Sssh now, I'm watching the rugby. Missed the Wales match so I'm having to make do with England-France. Sigh.

Rie pretty much since I got my TFP I have been bloating up (and parping like a whopee cushion) in the afternoons and evenings. It's just wind (stomach is still as it ever was in the morning), but it is pushing my belly out. As my usual winter work outfit is pencil skirt+fitted jumper, the bloat is already noticeable to me. On Friday I noticed the eyes of the one work colleague who knew we were having fertility treatment flick towards my belly as I was talking to her. Hmmm. So I was thinking of using the move towards spring to adapt my style to something looser. And be in readiness for the no bump just chubby stage. But I was not inspired.

Enjoy the rugger.

Sorry the course was of no bloody use at all. ;)

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 23/02/2013 18:13

Having thought it over I advise.....Deflatine!! Poor Euro, full of wind :(. Agreed, it must be awkward if you are a sharp and natty dresser to go to elasticated waists and flowing hippy fabrics.

Have you tried probiotics euro?

Northey · 23/02/2013 18:22

I love that exhibition, though I haven't made it to this year's yet. It must be closing soon

I am thinking about pissing on a fiver tomorrow. It works for the mental American women on th magic tummy rub forum, surely it will work for me! I will be 5dp5dt...

Northey · 23/02/2013 18:25

Ooh, cross post with lots of discussion about farting! Hmm... Can you got for that style of tailoring which is sort of circle skirt with nipped in jacket?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 23/02/2013 18:29

Are you sure you want to test that early Norf?

In other news, WIBU to kill MrRie for coughing?

OP posts:
Northey · 23/02/2013 18:32

No, aries, it would be your duty. For the good of the herd.

CaptainMollingtonCholmondeley · 23/02/2013 18:34

Argh Rie, does he force it like BE does and get all dramatic about and stay up all night desperately coughing for sympathy? If yes, YANBU.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 23/02/2013 18:45

He takes this awful indrawn breath and I know that any second now there will be a ridiculous shouty bark which will hurt my ears. It's not like he's even producing any phlegm.

In bed when he does it, the whole feckin bed shakes. It's worse at night.

Our spare bedroom is at the moment full of junk. There is no room for me to seek refuge there.

OP posts:
Northey · 23/02/2013 18:49

Can you read him lots of stories about Captain Oates, in a meaningful voice

CaptainMollingtonCholmondeley · 23/02/2013 18:52

Norf - LOL
Rie - he sounds exactly like BE. I feel your pain.

EuroShaggleton · 23/02/2013 19:24

I don't think it's diet related - I think it's the post-IVF progesterone. It's a well-known side-effect (although looking around the ant-natal freds, some of the au naturel ladies seem to be having the same problem and it was the first thing my instadiffer friend asked me when she was trying to work out if I was pg or not before the blood test). So I don't think I am going to be able to get rid - I just need to hide it as best I can.

Norf I think delilah on the egg buddies thread got a BFP at 9dpEC, but we now know that is twins! I tested out my ovitrille at 7 and 8 dpEC and then got my TFP at 12dpEC. I suspect I wouldn't have got anything at 10. The line at 12 was barely visible. So if you are going to test that early, you need to be aware that you might get something, you might not, and it might not be a true result.

Can't you tell him he should do the decent thing and wander outside saying he may be sometime, to save you the bother of having to kill him?

RaspberrySnowCone · 24/02/2013 01:10

I am drink, took ain't time to sign in! Mlove you guys xx

Yayeee drunkie.

Nightie

Northey · 24/02/2013 06:24

I have NOT POAFed this morning Though i did risk bladder explosion while I lay in bed for half an hour debating with myself.

Northey · 24/02/2013 07:50

Oh. Except now I have squeezed out a few more drops of wee and stuck a fiver in them. Absolutely arctic. Not so much as an evaporation line. In a way this is good, as I can take it as evidence that the trigger shot is out of my system, and any future positive test will be an accurate one.
