Brooking NO ARGUMENT that those BFPs are on the way

SweetieTime · 27/01/2013 09:23

Not started a new Fred before but hope it is successful for us as we are going to get our BFPs, either by traditional rat smacking activities or using the power of medical science.

Ladies I do declare WE WILL GET THERE - FACT !!!

OP posts:
NoMaybeAboutIt · 28/02/2013 08:54

That sounds like a plan Keep.

I'm kind of excited. It doesn't really feel real yet. When I found out it was 6 weeks till the appointment, it felt like forever, but now it's here!! I am hoping we will get a date for MrMaybes procedure so that we can arrange dates for the start of treatment.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 28/02/2013 08:56

I drink quite a bit of water. I think there is always so much conflicting advice from health professionals. I remember not so long ago reading that the 2 litre rule wasn't true. I think as long as your wee is the right colour, you are fine. Are you missing England Keep?

Solars · 28/02/2013 09:01

Oh yes Maybe the first one of the pullman trilogy is Northern Lights, I think they called the movie The Golden Compass, have you read the last 2? I just gave my copies to my 13 year old niece to read!

Beedle hope you get to hear soon what's going on with your appointment, if it were me I'd be tempted to make a phone call by now.

Sweetie it's awful being in this limbo I really feel for you, hope you get some answers too very soon. How did the counselling go?

I kept up with the yoga Keep albeit a bit more gently, just go with how you feel, I kept away from stuff that would put too much strain in that area.

Soph to be honest because I haven't seen any real results in that I mean baby from the acupuncture I am a little wary, however I do find it relaxing, it gives me a sense of doing something to help the situation and it's a chance to offload on someone plus I have noticed subtle changes in my period for the better. Just do what you feel comfortable with, I think that's the most important thing and massages sound great with a glass of wine note to self must book a massage soon

Geek are you feeling more yourself now?

ControlGeek · 28/02/2013 09:08

solars yes, definitely worth reading the books, I read the first one before I saw the film, then books 2 and 3 after. There is a lot of detail in the book that the film couldn't capture. Good luck with your blood test reruns, brooking that it was just one of those odd things that our blood does sometimes, and that your next test comes back completely normal. You have an amazing gp. Truly amazing.

keep well done on the stabbing, hope it is still going well for you. How many days do you have to stim for? It might be worth taking the dr's advice about exercise during the stim period, but does yoga class as exercise in that way? Maybe he means running and aerobics? I imagine that anything that helps you to relax and sends the good chemicals around your body can only be a good thing. Maybe pick it up after ET?

scarlett hope your stimming is also going well, but that is excellent news on the follies you already have. Brooking like crazy that you get a bumper crop of top quality eggs.

sweetie I am so sorry you are still waiting after all this time. I was so excited for you when you posted before Christmas that you had been matched with a donor. It will happen though lovely, it really really will. I felt the same way about my lap, what with all the delays and chasing etc, but here I am just four days away from being back at work after it. Definitely chase them and ask for specifics on the delay. So much easier to go with the flow when you know what is actually happening.

soph how are you feeling today? Are you back at work now?

beedle it's horrible when life-stuff reminds you in a very pointed way about TTC. I had to do my appraisal before Christmas too, and make plans for projects and training and really had to bite my tongue because I just wanted to say no, I won't be doing any of that because I am planning on being on mat leave.

maybe how are you doing, lovely?

Good job I got up early this morning, I had a phone call at half eight from the clinic where I had my lap done. Apparently I missed an appointment with Professor X, my cardiologist this morning. All very confusing, since I wasn't aware of the appointment, or even the fact that I have a cardiologist! I've asked the clinic to call me back to explain, once they've finished investigating what happened. I'm really not impressed with that clinic at all, they've not been particularly good from start to finish. Thank goodness they aren't the ones carrying out the fertility procedures. Fingers crossed that while it's the same group of hospitals, that clinic won't be quite so confused about things!

Otherwise, all is good here. I'm planning on walking into town tomorrow, my first trip out of the house on my own - how exciting!

ControlGeek · 28/02/2013 09:16

Sorry solars, cross posts (again!). Thank you, I'm feeling much more myself now. Just some tugging and bruising feelings, which I can ignore pretty much as long as I don't try and get really heavy boxes down from the top of the wardrobe, stupid woman that I am I'd still love another week off work though... Grin

BeedlesPineNeedles · 28/02/2013 09:38

geek glad you're getting better. It sounds a bit odd about the cardiologist - perhaps they have got you muddled up with another patient? Though geek isn't a very common surname is it :o

I think you're all right we should call the clinic, I'll give them next week as then it will have been 2 months. then I'll make MrB ring them, once we've worked out who to ring!

maybe I'm also excited that you're getting close to your appointment. I hope everything starts to move quickly after that.

keepitgoing · 28/02/2013 10:03

Hi geek so glad you're feeling better. Hope the walk's not too painful. I wonder why you'd see a cardiologist - have they ever mentioned heart issues. Sigh. Administration. Yes, I think he means running and the like, which I'm happy to not do..

I miss England in a way, maybe. I do miss knowing what's going on, most of the time I feel like things just pass us by. Don't miss the weather, or food. Only five months till home time though! Are you expecting mrMaybe will be given treatment prior to the ivf, or do they just get the sperms out very technical, me at the time of ivf?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 28/02/2013 10:42

That's a good question Keep I have no idea. Fresh would be best, so who knows. Will be great if it is the same day though, may mean a sooner start date.

Good move to call the clinic Beedle hopefully you'll get an ironic appointment letter through first.

Geek glad you are getting better every day. I'm ok thank you. Pluggiing away Grin

Can't remember anything else, am on phone so will post properly anon.

Mon26 · 28/02/2013 10:53

Hello Ladies, I am a newbie here... well, not ttc, but in this Fred.

I doubt I will remember all the names now, but hopefully with time. i have been reading and browsing the thread... and there are a couple of things I would like to add.

I have had 3 mc, and surgery to remove some small polyps in case it was the problem. Then, after the last MC I was so down one day that in an elevator in a well known shop could not resist and ask a lady with a lovely kid, how old was she... ??? I know! I am crazy, but in that short moment of urban intimacy inside the elevator, I could not resist. She was very nice, told me she was older than me, and that I just need to hang in there,... she sent me an email that evening and told me of Marilyn Glenville and her natural medicine. My DH and I went there for an appointment, but I had already started Shiatsu/acupuncture/Moxibustion with a very nice japanese expert. At the nutritionist she gave us more supplement and a tincture (with agnus castus also) to take evening and morning (but when I am bleeding). When my period finished, I started a Monitired Cycle. SOme one mentioned it in the threat. During this month the expert has been doing transvaginal ecographies to check that everything (including the thickness of the endometrium) is the correct. This month we are trying to conceive, and so far I have done almost all the transvaginal ecographies (2 more left...) . Fingers crossed and the last one will be a nice surprise! Brooking it!

In addition, the acupuncturist told me I had a Cold Uterus (meaning not enough blood circulation, and not taking enough care to warm up my body. Since then I have been sleeping with Estonian (wide) wool socks, going around the house with my new inseparable friend (Bag of Hot water) and massaging my legs and stretching my body to help circulation.) And he also mentioned not too drink too much water since it takes too much space inside us and it is not that good. We should drink when we are thirsty and in winter only warm drinks, not cold with ice. No salads or cold food in winter: always warm. Well, this is what I am following this month and next months to come, I will keep you posted on it.

Also, I am taking Mornings: Omega 3, Monthly Balance tincture, maca, fertility for women, spirulina and NT188 (to not stress or avoid anxiety). In the evening: Fertility for women, NT188, and the tincture. Noon: spirulina and maca. No breads, no artificial food or over processed (hence the wheat). Oats in the morning, lots of beans (beans, chickpeas, quinoa, lentils -home prepared), vegetables soups (home made) and fish and organic chicken.. and the occasional small steak all with now and then some steam green vegetables (broccoli, brussels sprouts, leeks, onion, green beans... anything steamable).

Well, trying hard to eat well to get my body to process my hormones well... and in case I get the brooking BFP, hopefully it will stick this time. Fingers crossed!

Greetings to you all that are brooking for a BFP. And I promise next time I will be more concise. I am going to my Shiatsu/acupuncture/moxibustion sesson soon.

Oh! and on the weekend I have booked a hairdresser appointment, assumptly it is all organic hair dye!

Thanks for a nice fred, with lots of [bscuit] and Wink, hopefully it will all be celebrations soon.

mon

ControlGeek · 28/02/2013 11:05

Squeeee!!!

Welcome mon I'm so sorry you've had such a rough journey up to this point. You'll get loads of support on this fred, and you'll have your BFP before you know it. It sounds like you've really taken control of things and you're doing all you can, so brooking this is your cycle. We've had a few brookers join us and get their BFP within a cycle or two!

ControlGeek · 28/02/2013 11:08

maybe is there anything they could do to perhaps repair MrM's tube to give you guys a chance at natural? Otherwise, I'm pretty sure they can do the extration on the day of egg collection, I remember reading about it when we found MrG had problems. I believe they stick a needle into the testes under a local anaesthetic, from memory.

Mon26 · 28/02/2013 11:22

Ahahahah! ControlGeek I had to read you twice to clearly get the welcome image. Thanks!

This time I really want to keep positive and learn and share as much as I can from mumsnet and you all.

I will have to read all the other messaged on the thread to answer properly to each person.

Last year I spent a big amount on mumsnet, but after the 2nd MC I got a bit distant to help cope. Thanks for your good vibes!

I send you also good vibes to you all.

Perseverance with ttc in any way is on the Brooking rules, isn't it?

BeedlesPineNeedles · 28/02/2013 11:22

Wow mon that sounds like a lot of pills Shock i just take conception vits, extra vit D, plus evening primrose oil up to ovulation. But our problems aren't with me so I force conception vits and 1000mg/mcg (not sure which it is!) of Vit C down MrB's neck each day. It doesn't appear to have made any difference yet but he also needs to cut down a bit more on the alcohol too.
I think I might try to get him to read some stuff about IVF so he actually understands what it involves - it might make him realise why I want him to take the pills etc. Has anyone seen a guide to IVF for dummies men on the internet?

ControlGeek · 28/02/2013 11:31

beedle I found these helpful, which reminds me it's about time MrG looked over them again:

The Men's Guided to Preparing for IVF

Healthy Sperm - Improving Your Fertility

Dummies Guide to IVF (more process-orientated than sperm-orientated)

A Man's Guide to Conception AKA why your partner seems to be going slightly nuts, and what you can do about it.

I'm chuffed to bits with MrG at the moment, my op seems to have kickstarted him a bit. Most nights now he's drinking nothing, or stopping after half a bottle of beer. Seriously!

mon phew, thank goodness you have a sense of humour, reading back my post could have been taken soooo wrong Grin Absolutely, perseverence is right up there, along with the Law of Boob!

Mon26 · 28/02/2013 11:31

Hi BeedlesPineNeedles they are quite some pills, but they are manly supplements, nothing chemical, as far as I know. On the other hand, I recall now that the nutritionist mentioned that here in the UK it is difficult to get sun (vitamin D?) and that we also wear creams and make up with sunscreen on it, and that we should try to get as much natural sun as possible to trigger Vit D.

I have a friend who will be soon going for IVF and her partner has been asked to follow a plan because he has low quality sperm, I will ask if they have something (tips or links) to share.

My DP has cut all the drinking (he was not really ever a heavy drinker although he has a pendant for exploring unpeated malted whisky ...long story and only "tasting...") and every evening I leave the fertility pills by the coffee machine so that he remembers to take them. Also, we are only using decaf coffee now. The nutrionist said no-coffee, but it is th eonly rule we are breaking, a decaf a day (in may case every two days - after all my mom conceive 4 kids drinking coffee, although she was waaaaay younger!)

Tell him that the pills are actually "vitamins" not chemical things...!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 28/02/2013 12:28

Ooh thanks geek I had thought a few days ago that I should have a google but I only ever think about it at work and it wasn't really something I thought I should be googling at work :o I shall have a read of them when I get home and then print one out and staple it to MrB's forehead :o

mon I'm not in the UK so the sun is even scarcer here, well actually its lovely and sunny here at the moment, but apparently its not strong enough for our bodies to make vit D from Oct to April.

ScarlettInSpace · 28/02/2013 13:10

aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh MN just lost a super long post - thats why i feckin usually c&p from word Angry Angry

try again...

sweetie I'm sorry about all the waiting love, go kick some butt! I'd expect it from the NHS but you're paying, just go in the clinic and tell them you need some answers.

keep 5 months left, oh that will fly by and you'll get back here in the summer [although I'm not sure if summer is booked for a Thursday or a Friday this year...]

re books/films: I have deliberately NOT read the Hunger Games as I absolutely adore the film and I feel like I ruined the Twilight films by reading the books first, I wish I had done it the other way round. For the same reason I have resisted the Game of Thrones books as the TV series is fab and I love not knowing what is going to happen next! again I think I will read the books when the TV series are finished [next series 01/04/13!]. I have read the Sookie Stackhouse books they are great, really easy fun reading, and I love watching True Blood - but after the first series it departed so far from the books they only really share charachters and places, and I like that they are so different [the books are better though]. I loved the Pullman trilogy and I was really disappointed the rest of the books weren't made into films as I loved the first film, they got it spot on nothing to do with casting Daniel Craig lol

mon hello - are you american by any chance? Just some of your terminology. That's a lot of suppliments! Just for the record I'm on the usual Sanatogen M-to-be + Omega with DHA, maca, bees polllen, co-enzyme Q10, oh and I just did a pretty intense aloe vera based detox to get me IVF-ready Wink

geek glad you're feeling better, the only way is up to a brooking BFP now love!

beedles after 3 months of finally starting to take the manvits I've been nagging OH about for 2 years, he STILL likes to proudly tell me he's taken them every night, like he should get a lollipop or something... yes dear, as soon as I've stopped injecting vast quantities of hormones extraced from post-menopausal womens wee into my legs I'll be sure to pat you on the head for taking a tablet Hmm

maybe I think you;ve been fab the way you've dealt with everything, you'll get your reward in a reallife bonafide baby Grin

solars I agree with you re acupuncture, I love the me-time and the fact my acupuncturist is a therapist and she has been through IVF so I can really talk to her about it all. Plus on my last [failed] attempt, my womb linign was beautiful, and i'm taking no chances that this may have related to the acu so I'm going full steam at it again this time Grin

soph are you back at work today? I'm working from home spending too much time on MN today and then all next week due to having to go for every-other-day scans, and 10am jabs from Saturday...

Phew, that was a long one, I should keep up to date more lol xx

NewYearNewBoo · 28/02/2013 15:17

new home for the grads come along and mark your place, you will be needing it very soon :):)

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 28/02/2013 15:42

::::twirls:::: My new name for the new grads thread :):) what do you think?? My NewYear name was soooo last season Grin (tis I Boo Wink)

Solars · 28/02/2013 22:13

Boo lovely new name! Suits you!

Hi Scarlet how are you doing on the stims? mmmm Daniel Criag Also your dh sounds like mine, wanting a pat on the head for remembering to take his vits every night!! Got everything crossed for you this time round, grow, follies grow!

A big hello to the newbie Mon nice to have you on board! I've heard of Marilyn Glenvile, there's also someone else called Mel Brown I think who also advises on nutrition. I've always been one of those people who thought if you eat a healthy diet that you shouldn't need all those supplements however I have now succumbed to Zita West preconception vits, omega 3 and Royal Jelly in the hope we get some quality eggs next time round for our ivf, as last time was a poor show Hmm Are you just trying naturally or also on an assisted conception route? By the way what is spirulina?

Geek did you sort out your clinic mess up? Some of these places do make you wonder sometimes!

Waves to Beedle, Sweetie, Maybe, Keep, Soph and anyone else I may have forgotten x

I am making this tmrw, wish me luck!

keepitgoing · 01/03/2013 02:34

Morning girlies, and welcome Mon!! Gosh, you are doing amazing stuff, I'm brooking for your imminent bfp. How long have you been TTC? I've been almost two years with nothing doing, and have just started my first ivf cycle.

Scarlett and I both have scans tomorrow morning, so brooking's needed please. Grow follies, grow!!

SweetieTime · 01/03/2013 10:12

brooking that those follies are growing keep & Scarlett. It is amazing how quickly the scan come around on sp. good luck for tomorrow we will be all with you in spirit

Solars you are a tease with that very scrummy looking cake. save me a bit nom nom nom.

Mon welcome it seems you are taking a lot of vits there. your bfp has got to be just around the corner

boo loving the new name, suits you sir

am waiting for a call back from the clinic. They did get in touch yesterday but with nothing to say. she needed to speak to dr before can advise further. driving me mad, but it obviously is not going to happen anytime soon. so we have booked a week away before easter to take our minds off things

OP posts:
ControlGeek · 01/03/2013 10:27

Brooking soooooo hard for you both, keep and scarlett I can't wait to hear the good news from your scans

solars no idea - they haven't bothered to get back in touch with me. I just feel sorry for the poor soul who should have had a cardioligy appointment, given how long I had to wait for mine. That cake looks really yummy - good luck :)

Loving your new name boo, It really suits you!

scarlett damn I hate when MN does that! The first Game of Thrones book matched the series almost exactly (or should that be the other way round?) but the others drifted a bit, swapped characters over, changed the order of events a bit etc. However... not all of the books have yet been written, I think there are still two or three outstanding (come on George, we're waiting !!!) so there could come a point where the series has to come to a grinding halt if the books aren't finished, or the BBC or whoever made it may have to invent their own ending

I'm feeling irrationally happy this morning - I have just been to the psot office to pay half a mortgage's worth in postage to get a special delivery parcel to arrive by 1pm tomorrow. MrG's son has asked to borrow one of his DVD box sets Grin Grin Grin

NoMaybeAboutIt · 01/03/2013 10:41

Oh Geek that's amazing news!! So not irrationally happy at all!

Mon welcome lovely. My, you must rattle when you walk with all those supplements! I'm sorry to hear of your losses. Brooking for BP very soon.

Boo you are sooooo down with the kids. Hardly recognised you with that new name Wink

Sweetie I am so frustrated on your behalf. That's a good move to book a holiday. Are you going anywhere nice?

I'm doing the Follie dance Keep

Ooooh Solars a bit of baking. Hurrah. Ive made a similar cake before. Lovely.

Scareltt what time is your scan. I don't know if I have coped with everything well really. I think finally getting a diagnosis just took a mammoth amount of pressure off!

Any sign of a letter yet Beedle?

Solars · 01/03/2013 14:22

So cake is out the oven and cooling down....I'm quite impressed just looking at it without having sliced into it yet, I did add a slight variation as DH prefers fruits and nuts in his cakes so I added toasted hazelnuts as I didn't have any dried fruit in the house!

There's a slice of cake with your name on it Sweetie what time shall I expect you? That week away sounds lovely, got anywhere in mind yet? We're waiting to find out what they say about our ivf/icsi before we plan any hols but we do have a weekend away at the end of March. Come on clinic ring!!

Geek wow things seem to going quite well with MrG's son, I'm very very happy for you too :)

Not long at all now Maybe brooking you'll get an idea of timescales and things on Monday!

For Keep & Scarlett's Follies GROW FOLLIES GROW!!!

Apart from baking this morning I had quite a treat when I saw a monkjack deer in our 'back yard'. In fact I first thought it was a goat Confused I say 'back yard' because we live in a flat which is part of this enclosed estate and behind us are meadows. Because our estate is gated and fenced I got quite concerned as to how it got in, so I knocked on the neighbours door. They told me they're quite common (it was the first time I'd seen one and we've been living here for 2.5 years!) and they jump the fences to get in. They're very fast too as I tried to get a pic of it on my phone but only managed to get shot of it's rear end as it left!
