Good morning (evening) Miss/Mrs MummyToBe!

I don't know about you, but I'm finding it hard to balance teaching+TTC. Too tired to DTD as often as I think I probably should be+so overwhelmed with the job that I'm filled with lots of negative thoughts+feelings all the time

Everyone keeps telling me that I need to be less stressed if I want to conceive but find that an impossibility.....unless I resign!!

Any other teachers out there feel like this?

Had news today that we're being referred to fertility clinic and may end up needing IVF.

Not good when starting a new job at a faith school who would undoubtedly disapprove!

It's good we're being referred, but so wanted to have a natural conception. Sigh. Really don't want to go through IVF. I just wish it would happen naturally, but doesn't look like it's going to.

Just found out that another member of staff is pregnant. Getting increasingly annoyed. Not fair. Shouldn't feel like this, but I do.

Thanks Thatsso - guess DH and I need to just take one step at a time. Grrrr about upduffed colleague. Of course you should be pleased for her and deep down you probably are, but you're allowed to be a bit . Just don't let her know!

Bearface, really pleased that you got the referral - try not to worry about the faith school thing. You don't need to tell them too much, so you? Perhaps you can get things arranged for holidays etc.

Heard today that a teacher at school is pg. My immediate thought was whether I could cover her mat leave, as I seem to be more obsessive about jobs than ttc at the moment (more than likely due to it being cd 85 and no bfp). She has not announced it, so was told in a gossipy way. It made me think of our conversations about this, though. She joined the school in September as head of phase and is due in June, so must have got pg end of summer, or thereabouts. She must have had the same dilemmas as we have about changing schools and arriving pg due to having to apply so far in advance. It was really nice to hear. The gossip who told me said that the head was not pleased, but I don't know if this was true at all. I replied that these things can't be planned & she agreed. The teacher is 40 and it sounds as though she has been trying for ages, wanted to change jobs, did it and fell pg. No-one has died. She will get mat leave. Yes, it does seem that she's nervous about making an announcement, as they don't have a plan for cover. Perhaps she is worried about how it will look.
Just wanted to share that with you, as encouragement to change jobs if you want to and that it does happen that teachers arrive in a new job pg and everyone copes.

Thanks Ilove. You're right about the faith school thing. They can't do much and I don't really have to tell them. All they asked was that I support the ethos of the school, not that I would follow their religious rules to the letter. I do have holidays too for scheduling any major treatment I guess if needs be.

Thanks also for posting about the new person pg in your school ILove - that's the thing though isn't it? I stoopidly always thought you could plan these things until we started TTC and now realise what a fool I was, so in the past I probably would have been one of those people looking on disapprovingly I'm ashamed to say sparse sex ed and lack of detail about fertility when visiting doctorsin early twenties is partly to blame I would add However, I have eaten my words and know better now. It's good to hear that it does happen though and you're right - no one has died. Some perspective needed at times methinks. Thanks for sharing.

Hello! I'm also a teacher just starting ttc. DH is also a teacher. Really excited but also aware that if I get pregnant soon I will be the 5th maternity leave next academic year... don't think my head will be thrilled...

I thought that. I started trying when it was general gossip that two others at school were trying. They were both recently married and had made no secret of wanting a family. I laughed at what would happen (it's only a small primary) if all three of us left for maternity. Only one of us is pregnant over a year later though, and she's only just announced it.

Welcome greencattis. We've got similar issues. If I go on mat leave, there will be two mat leave teachers covering UKS2. Not great, but nothing I can do about that. We are a small school, so there will always be an issue with one person or another being off. Mostly female staff, too, and mostly of child-bearing age. That's just life. It's not as if we stay off forever or do this on purpose to make life difficult for the head.

Hi all, final countdown to Easter hols now can't wait!!! I've had a v stressful term, staff feeling v unsupported and lots v demoralised... not going to go into details. I'm just keeping my head down and getting on with things. No BFP here yet. Awaiting AF in the next couple of days and am going to start using CBFM this cycle. Was furious yesterday with a couple of family members who booked flights to visit us without consulting us on dates first. Of course the dates they've picked are bang smack in the middle of ovulation time in May!! If I was a few years younger it wouldn't matter so much but every month counts at the moment... Now DH and I are trying to concoct plans as to how we will DTD while they are here aarrgghh!!

Oooo - that's annoying Goosey. People, especially family, can be so rude and thoughtless at times. Make sure you keep your bedroom just for you and DH so that you can at least have a go at night when family are there.

I'm hoping the Easter holidays will give some lovely relaxing time to crack on with baby making for us all. Sure it helps to be more relaxed!
Also will be easier to drink the herbal teas etc as I was really struggling last term after giving up caffeine!

Girls have you seen the thread 'should I retrain as teacher or move house for 60k job'... It's a resounding TAKE THE JOB from most of the teachers posting... makes for very depressing reading. Someone should print it off and send it to Gove

Would I take a 60k job and move,...instead of retraining as a teacher and not really get paid all year, just to start on about 19k the year after? Hell, yeah.

AF arrived, which annoys me,...but I'm getting over it. Paracetamol is my friend on the first day of her visit each month. It's disappointing, but it means I can now start to look for wedding dresses, without having to worry about needing a maternity one. I won't be big enough on my wedding day, even if I do get pregnant in my next cycle. That said, DP will be on residential during dtd week. Which might take this cycle out completely anyway and will reduce the possible bump by another four weeks.
Have found shoes already, though (I'm absolutely terrible buying shoes,...especially girly ones). We're going ring shopping tomorrow. Had seen one online that I really liked, but don't have the 5k to pay for it.

Congratulations, goosey. How are you feeling? I did see that thread on 60K and final salary pension vs ITT. It was depressing to see the number of teachers who urged her to take the job, even the ones who claimed that they enjoy teaching! But, I did agree with all of the points made. Particularly those about holidays - you need them to recover from term and you can't choose when to take leave. Yes, you don't have to pay for childcare, but i imagine term time being a nightmare juggling act when you have a family at home.

Sorry about af, thatsso. But glad you're now looking at dresses properly. Have a look at the dessy website for a white/ivory bridesmaid dress. There are loads of styles, very reasonable prices and short lead times. Also, loads of stockists.

I didn't see that thread Thatsso but TBH I think I would advise anyone to take a job like that over ITT. My argument would be that opportunities like that don't often come up, but ITT is always there waiting if you want it and you're appropriately qualified. It is sad though that more people would take the other job, but unfortunatey teaching is a really difficult and tiring job, and the clowns on government are just making it harder . . . Anyway, we all know the deal.

Sorry also about AF thatsso. Glad too you can now look at gorgeous dresses. Very exciting!

Today is a work day for me - planning for a course I'm teaching next week, so guess I'd better get off here and get my little self in gear! Hope you're all enjoying the holidays and getting in some quality TTC time!

Thanks for the tip Charming, had a look, but haven't found anything, yet. I think I'll visit the bridal shops in our area when my friend is back from holiday and have a look at their samples sales. Don't see the point in spending loads of money on a dress I'll only wear for one day. I've currently got a total of two dresses in my wardrobe. We've had a look at rings, though, and DP has picked his already. They are getting a few platinum and palladium ones in for me to take a look at. Aehm,...I don't have an expensive taste, really. I just can't wear gold.

Bearface I work on and off every so often this week. What's your course about? Today, I attacked my music planning for next term. I hate teaching music! However, I think I've got something that I can use now, having nicked some of the planning from my old school and adapted it. I'm supposed to use Music Express. It's boring, I don't get it... and I've put the CD somewhere really safe.

Hi there!

I'm planning for GCSE English revision courses. It's a bit of a nightmare really. Won't go into why on here, but will be glad when it's all over and done with. I'd recommend the TES website for resources if you're planning anything. The only problem with it is the search facility is a bit rubbish, so you have to trawl through lots of resources. Sorry that you hate teaching Music Thatsso - I'm guessing you're not a Music teacher by trade then? That CD sounds nicely and safely tucked away . . .

Best get on with yet more planning then. Hoping I can resuse some of this stuff rather than just doing it for one course. Have a good day everyone!
