Good morning (evening) Miss/Mrs MummyToBe!

I don't know about you, but I'm finding it hard to balance teaching+TTC. Too tired to DTD as often as I think I probably should be+so overwhelmed with the job that I'm filled with lots of negative thoughts+feelings all the time

Everyone keeps telling me that I need to be less stressed if I want to conceive but find that an impossibility.....unless I resign!!

Any other teachers out there feel like this?

Hi there everyone. How interesting that so many people are ttc and teachers, and seemingly having trouble. There must be a link! I am always tired and as for ttc, well I don't have the energy for it most of the time. I have other health conditions that really don't help with the tiredness. We have been ttc for about a year now and have started drugs to try to help. But the truth is I think I am too stressed to get pregnant. It is now too late in the year to resign, I wouldn't want to let my department down by leaving mid way through the year. But in my heart I think I know this profession is doing me in, and the best thing I could do would be to find something less stressful. Have been at the same school for years so leaving would be very hard.

Just have to keep hoping for a baby I guess.

Watching with interest OP. I'm a teacher and so is DH. We have been trying for three months and are really struggling to DTD on school nights because we are knackered.

Just come back to this thread and agree with poster who said that us teachers are too busy to even post on our own thread!
I enjoy reading everyone's stories. We are waiting to ttc as DH can't find a permanent teaching job in his subject and time is running out for this year. However, I am ambivalent at best about having children at all as can't imagine my life changing that much so maybe it's a sign.
On the plus side, the year 13s have gone and just about there with year 11.

Just wanted to offer some hope. I'm a secondary school teacher in a challenging-ish school. Ttc on and off for a few years. DS is 5. Have had 3 early mcs. Short luteal phase with low progesterone. Started acupuncture in February 2012. Now 25 weeks pg. dd due in August. I'm tired (in bed by 9 most nights), I've been off sick intermittently with morning sickness, flu and a chest infection, but I'm pleased to say I'm finally feeling better and enjoying this pregnancy.

Have yr 11s, and coursework deadlines coming out of my ears but I am surprisingly calm. My mantra is 'I can only do what I can do, and looking after myself and this baby is the most important thing'. Don't get me wrong, I love my job and most of my classes; I just won't let things stress me out.

I know you won't want to hear this, but I did conceive the month I took my eye off the ball. Forgot to temp properly, DTD twice only as knackered, and had several excessively boozy nights out with DH after months of being super strict and a manic fertility drill sargeant!

Hi, I'm new to mums net but wondered if I could join this thread. I'm a maths teacher in a very recently ofsted'ed school (last week before Easter)... So that stress at least is over with (and I got a good with outstanding features ), although unfortunately oh's grandad died in hols , so not as relaxed as I had hoped for ttc.

Trying for our first, came off pill in November and bfn's each month so far, really hoped this was our month as I finally feel that pill is out of my system but just don't think we have done it at the right time with everything that has been going on, cd 21 today...

I know the feeling about keep being told about other pregnant colleagues, although there is a chance that if all things go to plan soon, that there will 3 of us in my department off on maternity (I will think positively!).

Bearface I'm not even close to being a music teacher. It's the one subject I happily hand over to someone else...and I had managed to do so since my nqt year. Finally, it's caught up with me. However, I'm quite excited by what I have planned so far and hope that it's going to work. According to my training certificate, I'm an English specialist and apparently capable of teaching up to GCSE. However, found secondary really boring, so happily switched to middle and then primary. I actually prefer to teach Maths. I have, though, planned an English language unit and discrete writing skills sessions for next term, which I'm rather looking forward to (my degree is in English linguistics).
Hope your courses will be helpful.

Currently waiting to start dtd again for this cycle. Will try to get some action in before DP leaves for residential...and the day he comes back.

Hi there!

I'm planning for GCSE English revision courses. It's a bit of a nightmare really. Won't go into why on here, but will be glad when it's all over and done with. I'd recommend the TES website for resources if you're planning anything. The only problem with it is the search facility is a bit rubbish, so you have to trawl through lots of resources. Sorry that you hate teaching Music Thatsso - I'm guessing you're not a Music teacher by trade then? That CD sounds nicely and safely tucked away . . .

Best get on with yet more planning then. Hoping I can resuse some of this stuff rather than just doing it for one course. Have a good day everyone!

Thanks for the tip Charming, had a look, but haven't found anything, yet. I think I'll visit the bridal shops in our area when my friend is back from holiday and have a look at their samples sales. Don't see the point in spending loads of money on a dress I'll only wear for one day. I've currently got a total of two dresses in my wardrobe. We've had a look at rings, though, and DP has picked his already. They are getting a few platinum and palladium ones in for me to take a look at. Aehm,...I don't have an expensive taste, really. I just can't wear gold.

Bearface I work on and off every so often this week. What's your course about? Today, I attacked my music planning for next term. I hate teaching music! However, I think I've got something that I can use now, having nicked some of the planning from my old school and adapted it. I'm supposed to use Music Express. It's boring, I don't get it... and I've put the CD somewhere really safe.

I didn't see that thread Thatsso but TBH I think I would advise anyone to take a job like that over ITT. My argument would be that opportunities like that don't often come up, but ITT is always there waiting if you want it and you're appropriately qualified. It is sad though that more people would take the other job, but unfortunatey teaching is a really difficult and tiring job, and the clowns on government are just making it harder . . . Anyway, we all know the deal.

Sorry also about AF thatsso. Glad too you can now look at gorgeous dresses. Very exciting!

Congratulations, goosey. How are you feeling? I did see that thread on 60K and final salary pension vs ITT. It was depressing to see the number of teachers who urged her to take the job, even the ones who claimed that they enjoy teaching! But, I did agree with all of the points made. Particularly those about holidays - you need them to recover from term and you can't choose when to take leave. Yes, you don't have to pay for childcare, but i imagine term time being a nightmare juggling act when you have a family at home.

Sorry about af, thatsso. But glad you're now looking at dresses properly. Have a look at the dessy website for a white/ivory bridesmaid dress. There are loads of styles, very reasonable prices and short lead times. Also, loads of stockists.

Haven't seen it and can't find it...
Would I take a 60k job and move,...instead of retraining as a teacher and not really get paid all year, just to start on about 19k the year after? Hell, yeah.

AF arrived, which annoys me,...but I'm getting over it. Paracetamol is my friend on the first day of her visit each month. It's disappointing, but it means I can now start to look for wedding dresses, without having to worry about needing a maternity one. I won't be big enough on my wedding day, even if I do get pregnant in my next cycle. That said, DP will be on residential during dtd week. Which might take this cycle out completely anyway and will reduce the possible bump by another four weeks.
Have found shoes already, though (I'm absolutely terrible buying shoes,...especially girly ones). We're going ring shopping tomorrow. Had seen one online that I really liked, but don't have the 5k to pay for it.

Girls have you seen the thread 'should I retrain as teacher or move house for 60k job'... It's a resounding TAKE THE JOB from most of the teachers posting... makes for very depressing reading. Someone should print it off and send it to Gove

I'm hoping the Easter holidays will give some lovely relaxing time to crack on with baby making for us all. Sure it helps to be more relaxed!
Also will be easier to drink the herbal teas etc as I was really struggling last term after giving up caffeine!

Oooo - that's annoying Goosey. People, especially family, can be so rude and thoughtless at times. Make sure you keep your bedroom just for you and DH so that you can at least have a go at night when family are there.
