Anyone else want to join me in getting ready for ivf in 2013? Good egg buddies wanted!!!

Hello,

Dh and I have been trying for over 2 years and had one failed ivf (Icsi) attempt at the Argc last spring. We are going to go again in the new year.

I wondered if anyone else was planning to do the same? And whether anyone fancied joining me in 'princessing' (stolen from style & beauty :) ) for ivf?

I'm not sure what this means in terms of what I'll do, really hoping for some help in researching how to get the best eggs ever, and perhaps how to improve dh's little swimmers....

Anyone up for being a good egg buddy?

I told the clinic that one was better than two and two was better than none, and they nodded sagely. Even though it was a fairly meaningless answer to their question. But secretly I do quite think I might prefer two to one anyway.

delilahbelle · 08/02/2013 07:15

Well, I have had a lovely dream about having b/g twins. Think it's my subcontious telling me I would cope.
I agree with you northey I'd rather have 1, but 2 would be better than nothing. One of my local friends has twins, so if it happens I will have someone to turn to.
Really NOT hoping for quads Shock The clinic I was with would have put back 3 embryos if I had wanted, definitely not a risk I wanted to take.
OTD and no more bleeding (touch wood)

Karbea · 08/02/2013 08:02

I had two eggs put back in, some people had 3!

My DH is a twin, so I think I'd quite like them, but any healthy baby would be a blessing!

Did you test again, then delilah? All still looking ok?

No apologies for the oversharing, but I have noticed I am quite wet for the last few days. Is thing a stimming thing?

delilahbelle · 08/02/2013 09:01

Another line, about as dark as yesterday. Of course I am now worried it should be darker. Another stress, to go with the thought of twins, the guilt about not being in work (I could be, but every other time I started to spot then stayed in work I had a chemical, I'm not risking it this time) the worry that I've never actually been pregnant before and don't have a clue what to do...

How are you today northey ? I can't remember about discharge from my IVF cycles, but I know lots of EWCM is normally, as more follicles mean more estrogen.

karbea are you in the 2WW then?

CaipirinhasAllRound · 08/02/2013 09:03

it's the cetrotide northey, I had that too. What day are you on now?

delilahbelle · 08/02/2013 09:04

fairy didals how are you both doing? I've been having a perk at the October ante-natal thread, but am a bit scared to post. Do you have any symptoms yet?

keepitgoing · 08/02/2013 09:07

caip when are you testing? I think euro is next?

Northey · 08/02/2013 09:11

CD9. Day 8 of stimms. Day, umm, 5 of cetrotide, I think.

CaipirinhasAllRound · 08/02/2013 09:16

Wednesday for me

CaipirinhasAllRound · 08/02/2013 09:17

have you got a scan later then northey? Good luck

Dildals · 08/02/2013 09:21

northey Yes the wetness thing is entirely normal!

Northey · 08/02/2013 09:27

Yes, off for first scan. Not sure what happens, apart from the dildocam bit, with which I am all too familiar. Do they just look at ovaries and tell me whether to carry on with gonal f and cetrotide, or to do the trigger shot and return for EC? Or something else?

CaipirinhasAllRound · 08/02/2013 09:29

exactly what happens!

delilahbelle · 08/02/2013 09:29

Good luck with your scan Northey As far as I know they will be measuring follicle sizes to see if you are ready for EC or need a few more days stimming. Fingers crossed you have a good healthy crop on the way.

Dildals · 08/02/2013 09:29

I had 2 placed back. I did look at the risk of twins etc, but we only get one round of IVF funded by the NHS and I will be 39 in July. The clinic is under guidelines with the HFEA to limit the amount of multiples anyway so we decided to take the advice from the clinic and go with that. They advised 2, taking in to account that I am such an old bird ... THANKS! DH is OK with twins, he wants 2 kids anyway. And there are twins in our family anyway, so I think I am used to the concept. DH did look a bit pale when I told him the nursery fees of the nursery close to our house this morning. He said 'is that for one?!', afterwards I heard him muttering 'I need another job don't I'. Bless 'm.

Dildals · 08/02/2013 09:35

delilah why are you asking about whether we are having symptoms yet, I think I gave everyone a pretty complete run down of all the random 'symptoms'! ;-) (thirsty, sore boobs, sore stomach muscles, toe cramp)

There is a thread already of people giving birth in October!?! Jeez, although it feels a lot longer, I am only on CD32. There is still such a high chance of miscarriages (sorry to mention the M-word, but it is the truth), let's not get ahead of ourselves. No buying of baby clothes, telling people or putting their names down for Eton, alright!

delilahbelle · 08/02/2013 10:02

didals Blush I think I am getting a bit obsessed. I must admit I am very envious of all the people who test and DON'T seem to worry about miscarriage - it's so common.

I am not going to be buying anything until (if I get there) 28 weeks. I wouldn't have a clue what to ge anyway!

Isabeller · 08/02/2013 10:09

I'd love twins, I hope my earlier comment didn't come across badly, for me there are medical reasons not to risk it. Big apologies for any tactlessness Blush

EuroShagmore · 08/02/2013 10:16

Morning ladies. If women's intuition counts for anything, we are out. As I woke up this morning, two words whizzed through my head: "it's gone". I went to bed last night a whirl of PMS-y hormones and libido and woke up just feeling oddly blank. I'm on 9dpEC, which is the day at least one of my suspected chem pregs ended (well, 9dpo). Other women's pregnancies last 9 months. Mine, 9 days. Maybe my body thinks I am a mouse or something.

delilahbelle · 08/02/2013 10:25

Euro I refuse to believe it. I had a couple of days I was convinced it was all over, but until you start bleeding believe you are still pregnant.

Can you get some first response tests in for after the weekend? I am keeping everything crossed for you.

isabeller you have no been tactless. Just blame your hormones for anything wrong :)

fairypangolin · 08/02/2013 10:31

euro I know how those feelings are but let's hope it is just nerves. I was convinced it hadn't worked for me just because it's the thing I want most in the world and so my subconscious assumes I therefore can't possibly have it. But I kept telling myself that how I feel is not a reflection of fact, just feelings.

We had 2 put back because like dildals I am 'old' (39) and the clinic seemed to assume I would want to transfer 2 anyway. I actually was more inclined to just transfer 1 since I don't really want twins (esp as we already have a child) but then between EC and ET I started mentalling/googling and the stats if you have 2 put back at my age just seemed so much better. If I were under 37 I would probably have gone with 1 since it would not feel so much as though time is running out. However -nursery fees for 2 babies!!! swoon!!!

delilah i still feel about the same, although the cramping is diminished and my breasts are sore and swollen. I am also quite irritable which I remember from being pregnant early on with my DS. My parents were visiting and I was so snappish with my mother (who is the least objectionable of people) I felt deeply ashamed and apologised! Luckily I had a good reason for it.

I agree, an Oct antenatal thread seems rather like jinxing oneself but I suppose if you did have a MC then it could be a source of support as well. I just try to stop myself whenever I start thinking about that, it's not helpful and it just stresses me out.

Dildals · 08/02/2013 10:50

delilah on what to get ... hmm a leash, basket, blanket, earplugs and a ball ... that should be enough surely ;-). One of my friends is due in April, she's bought everything new and she's got excellent taste, hopefully I will be first in line to grab all her cast offs!

isabelle you have not been tactless at all!
euro I hope it's not true.

delilahbelle · 08/02/2013 10:56

I have had three friends give birth last year. Although gotten at the time, I am now thinking I'm going to be ideally placed for hand-me-downs. Good good.

I'm now hungry but can't think of anything I want to eat. And the house is a tip and I can't summoned up the motivation to tidy. Ugh.

delilahbelle · 08/02/2013 10:56

*gutted. Stupid auto correct!
