Anyone else want to join me in getting ready for ivf in 2013? Good egg buddies wanted!!!

Karbea · 17/12/2012 18:26

Hello,

Dh and I have been trying for over 2 years and had one failed ivf (Icsi) attempt at the Argc last spring. We are going to go again in the new year.

I wondered if anyone else was planning to do the same? And whether anyone fancied joining me in 'princessing' (stolen from style & beauty :) ) for ivf?

I'm not sure what this means in terms of what I'll do, really hoping for some help in researching how to get the best eggs ever, and perhaps how to improve dh's little swimmers....

Anyone up for being a good egg buddy?

Sorry- pressed wrong key- dissolved into buckets of tears. Have been lying in bed like a zombie almost ever since. I can't believe it's true, just praying to god it will stay put.

delilah I hope your trip to the clinic was reassuring. If not I hope my good news doesn't make you feel worse. It's a very emotional time, I can't think of anything more excruciating I've been through than the past 2 weeks. It's so so hard and you've been through a lot more.

dildals congratulations what fantastic news! You're brave to test at work, I wouldn't have been able to control myself either way in front of my colleagues. Hope you can relax and enjoy the moment.

fairypangolin · 05/02/2013 16:54

delilah thank you! I was so prepared for failure I don't believe it!

delilahbelle · 05/02/2013 16:57

fairy after loads of tears I am now very zen. What will be will be. There is nothing I can do anyway except wait for AF to arrive. Amazing you got your BFP though, when is your 1st scan booked for?

EuroShagmore · 05/02/2013 16:58

fairy hurrah for your BFP! This thread is doing pretty well.

Sharonbenn · 05/02/2013 17:17

Hello ladies

Sorry for the absence. I've been stressing and hiding about the whole thing but I want to join in with the congrats about the BFPs for fairy and didals and Delilah my fingers are crossed for you. I really hope you got a good result.

Well done to all for getting this far. I've tried to catch up but I've lost track abit of all progress so apologies for no name checks.

I've been massively stressed about it all for past 2 weeks. Am due for AF then it's the count down til down reg at end of the month.

Who is starting end of feb? I think mine will be around the 28th. My First round of IVF.

Best wishes to all.
Sx

PFEW! I have been refreshing this link all day! CONGRATS fairy! I was a bit worried there!
I just had to know! I didn't even cry when I saw the result. I did give DH a call immediately. And we had a small glass of (non-alcoholic) prosecco when we got home to celebrate. I guess I am still on the fence, in the sense that yes, it is nice that I saw 2 lines, but what really counts is whether those 2 lines are still going to be there in 12 weeks time (minus the four we've already done). It's worth celebrating these steps too though. Next hurdle - 7 week scan. And of course my ceremonious weeing on the Official Stick tomorrow morning. Hopefully the lines are still there.
Last night when I got home, had my 'prosecco' and inserted the pessary I laid down on the sofa, legs up. DH: 'what are you doing?' Me: 'Well now that I know for sure that's something in there I want all the progesterone to stay in!' Frantically researching the net on any tips to make it to the next hurdle! (I woke up at five this morning ready for my daily google sesh)
Is there a Zita West podcast I can move on to now? Acupuncture (I am ready to throw money at anything now!), gaffer tape it shut?

Dildals · 05/02/2013 17:44

Superglue?

Dildals · 05/02/2013 17:45

Walk on my hands for the next 8 weeks?

CaipirinhasAllRound · 05/02/2013 17:49

a cork?

Massive congrats Fairy! Congrats and fingers crossed for that additional BFP tomorrow Dildals! Also fingers crossed you for too Delilah, I really hope AF doesn't appear

AdaKate · 05/02/2013 19:00

Just popping in to say HUGE Congratulations to Fairy. That's just wonderful! Enjoy that BFP!!! So happy for you. Grin

Also to Dildals.....Congrats.

And Delilah.....keep positive, keeping fx for you.

Keep up the good work everybody!!Smile

fairypangolin · 05/02/2013 19:38

Thanks all! Dildals - I'm trying not to immediately start obsessing about things going wrong. Most pregnancies are fine!

Good luck to you all! Thanks

Karbea · 05/02/2013 19:42

Oh my goodness! Can't believe you all kept this thread going and they've been some bfps!!!

My DH was really sick over New Years so we didn't do ivf in jan, but I'm hoping we do later this month. Although I've been studying 'the baby making bible' (anyone doing it?) and it suggests being healthy for three months. I'm pretty unhealthy :(

Has anyone been using Maca or Bee Propolis?

Can I rejoin? Blush

OP posts:
EuroShagmore · 05/02/2013 20:31

You started it, Karbea, so of course you can rejoin! Welcome back. It's nice to have a group of people going through the same process at the same time.

Mr Euro took maca for about 3 days. He is not good at keeping up the supplements.

I'm trying to keep things as normal as possible through the process, personally. I eat pretty healthily anyway and don't smoke. I have reduced the caffeine a bit (but not cut it out) and have drunk lightly throughout. I eased off the exercise around EC and ET but that's it (but I don't have a shedload of drugs in my system as I am doing natural). Throughout the time we have been trying, I have given up all sorts, including caffeine and alcohol completely, to no avail. So I decided to just be me for our cycle!

Northey · 05/02/2013 20:46

I am living normally as well. I've switched to decaf, and my alcohol consumption was very low anyway. I have been eating more sweets and choc than usual Blush as work is pressured at the moment, and people are working long hours and fuelling up on sugar. I've also carried on riding and walking.

Like euro, I've made all sorts of changes in the past. I am focussing on avoiding mental stress this time.

Karbea · 05/02/2013 21:11

I kept everything the same last time although DH andi were much better at giving up alcohol, I've cut back this time, but still have the odd splurge, DH is back to his very very bad old ways. I gave up work last summer so have no stress now, I dunno, it's probably our last try of ivf and part of me thinks I should give up/do everything I possibly can.

OP posts:
Dildals · 05/02/2013 21:14

fairy I got caught out with getting too excited before week 12 before, hence my apprehension. But you're right of course, most pregnancies are fine, that's what i should focus on.

keepitgoing · 06/02/2013 01:57

Congratulations fairy!! Brilliant, brilliant news.

I was wondering where you were karbea.

My dh has been taking macca for three months, among many other things. His latest sa was 10% normal morphology, whereas the previous three last year were 3-4%. This should mean if rather than icsi, which I'm happy about.

Sharon I'm starting the same time as you, but doing short protocol, so will be a couple of weeks ahead.

delilahbelle · 06/02/2013 07:56

Well no more spotting overnight, and my Internet cheapie test is darker than yesterday. But maybe because my FMU was very concentrated. God only knows.
Keep veering between 'it's another chemical, all your symptoms have gone, don't get your hopes up' to hoping and praying there's still a sticky bean in there. I had 2 transferred after all, both beautiful and perfect.
Second blood test on Monday, then results 3-4 days after that. If AF doesn't arrive first.

delilahbelle · 06/02/2013 08:00

didals how did wearing on the official test stick go this morning? Hopefully another strong positive.

Just to add, the only supplement I'm taking is a pregnancy vitamin, but I have also stopped drinking alcohol this year. Vaguely trying to eat more fruit and veg too, but that doesn't always work.

Sharonbenn · 06/02/2013 08:58

Morning everyone

Welcome back Karbea.

I'm glad that there will be someone at the same time as me Keep. I'm sure there will be lots of questions. We are going for our new patient info evening tonight so after a couple of weeks of no action and lots of worrying and stressing from me there will be some activity for a short while.

Health Wise, no alcohol, caffeine Etc I've also just been put on a special elimination diet which is stressing me out. It's not for ivf I suffer from chronic urticaria (hives) which is not serious but is very very stressful. Anyway turns out I have loads of food intolerances including gluten, eggs and dairy along with 14 other things. Am now on a gluten dairy free regime and having to get protein from all sorts of imaginative sources (I'm also veggie). Hemp protein powder shake anyone?

Am nearly at work. Have a good day all.

X

Karbea · 06/02/2013 09:10

keepit going what else is he taking? Where did you buy the maca?

I think I'm going to try a few diet changes, I'm rubbish at keeping to things tho.

sharon good to have found out about your intolerances, do you think that might have impacted your baby making?

Dildals · 06/02/2013 09:25

delilah both DH and I woke up again super-early and after tossing and turning for a bit we just decided to get the stick out at the ungodly hour, it was technically morning after all. Another positive, although the second line is still faint. The instructions say that that doesn't matter though. This time it felt a lot more real, and was a bit of an emotional mess, not good if you are trying to cycle to work in London traffic. I am still really scared that something will go wrong. I called the nurse this morning and they will call me back sometime this week to make the appointment for an 8 week scan. I thought it would be a 7 week scan ... AN EXTRA WEEK OF WAITING ... Anyway. We'll just carry on as normal I guess. Hard to concentrate on work today, it all seems pretty insignificant.

keepitgoing · 06/02/2013 09:30

One day at a time, Delilah. You're pregnant!

OK, so dh is a bit of a scientists, so went ott, and now we don't know which of these did it:
Multivit, general
Zinc
Vit c
Macca
El arginine
Coenzyme q 10
Celery extract
Horny goat weed
Goji berries
El cartinine
Tomato juice

He rattles!! (BTW I have tried to rationalize..) These are a mixture of antioxidants, and things to increase blood flow to the area Blush they work Blush

Dildals · 06/02/2013 09:32

karbea I take the pregnacare vitamin too, there is actual scientific evidence that that aids conception. I limited my alcohol intake to 5 units a week and then pretty much cut it out. I did implore with DH that it takes A LONG TIME for alcohol to clear itself from semen (something silly like 72 days). He attempted a dry January, but fell off the wagon on the fifth of Jan ... He's been trying to look up the word moderation ever since. I limited caffeine to 2 coffees a day and switched to rooibos tea (which has no caffeine). Now I have cut out caffeine altogether.

Northey · 06/02/2013 10:07

Well done again, dildals (what on earth does your name mean, btw?!).

My partner did actually manage a dry January. And he has promised that he is cutting down on caffeine. All his samples are really good though, so I don't feel I have many grounds to push him too hard. We know the problem is with me (double tubal failure and anovulation), so really I should focus on myself. Is a sausage sandwich good or bad from a TTC point of view, because I really fancy one. Protein, but processed. Hmmm. But mmmm :)
