I've started the new thread - how exciting!!

I hope this thread will bring lots of BFPs, good scan results and healthy new arrivals.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow redbird and hope you're able to get some rest tonight.

I managed two early scan this time, textbook, one at 8w on travel insurance (had the tiniest amount of spotting) and on just over 10w at the EPU when I got home, who do early scans routinely after any m/c. While the reassurance is temporary, being able to know things are progressing was worth loads to me in terms of peace of mind so I'd definitely go for an early scan if you can afford it.

Regarding when to go, it might be relevant that research on women who've had recurrent m/c finds the majority of losses happen between 6 & 8 weeks. Having my first scan at 8w and knowing about this research really helped as whenever I went overboard metalling I could then look at some very reassuring statistics.

After my booking scan at just over 13w, I think I've become a bit of a scan junky and am considering a private gender scan at 16-17w. It's just so reassuring to know all's looking well, 20w seems so far away, and now that I finally seem to be able to start bonding a bit - or at least thinking of this as a baby rather than a pregnancy - I'm really keen to stop calling it 'it'. Does anyone have any experience of this in general or of Babybond specifically?

Jollyb · 29/01/2013 20:52

textbook as beans said I'd be tempted to wait until 8 weeks if you can. I definitely wouldn't go before 7 weeks, as if your dates are out by even a few days you might not see a heart beat. Being

beans I'm becoming a bit of a scan junky too. I've racked up a total of 5 scans in this pregnancy so far and am only 14 weeks! I think I'm going to book a private scan at around 17 weeks as am flying off to Australia and keen to know all ok before I go. My anomaly scan is booked for my return.

Not for aaaaaaages yet jolly. I'm on day 10...

backwardpossom · 29/01/2013 21:57

Hope all goes well tomorrow, redbird :)

Moominsarescary · 29/01/2013 23:08

Hello everyone, just poping in to say my csection is booked for fri at 38+2 weeks! Was a bit of a shock when I was told on Monday, was expecting another week or so

Dorita75 · 30/01/2013 07:24

Hi beans I went to babybond last year, were very good (which I'd expect for £100!!) got my rescan free the week after when they saw things weren't progressing as they should. Was a mmc. Lady who scanned me was good, and worked at women's hospital as well so helped us with what we should do next.

I've decided to wait for 12wk scan this time. All day sickness has eased off a lot this week, I'm on hols so don't know if lie-ins and relaxed pace have had an effect. Have checked Dr Google and it can come and go so not too concerned. Still knackered and sore big nipples!

Jollyb · 30/01/2013 08:02

dorita sickness can definitely come and go. I had went for days feeling ok then it came back with a vengeance..

MrsHP 10 DPO by my calculation that means you can start testing in 3 days time!

Good luck redbird

Thanks jollyb although I enjoyed the slight reprieve, I was reassured when I started feeling sick again late this afternoon..

How did you get on today redbird? I hope you're ok x

Redbird12 · 30/01/2013 21:44

Hi all, thanks for the good luck messages. I am very relieved to say that the scan went well. One baby with a hearbeat, everything in the right place and measuring right for the dates. We were both so shocked as we'd been preparing ourselves for the worst. I know we're not out of the most risky weeks just yet but at least I can relax a bit now.

We're going to pay for another scan in 3 weeks for continued reassurance (figured as there's no council tax to pay for a couple of months we could splash out!!) Still not going to tell anyone yet till I'm a bit further on though.

Jollyb · 30/01/2013 21:49

redbird fantastic news. The odds are well and truly in your favour.

Jollyb · 31/01/2013 08:55

mrs hp - I meant CD10 too. Was joking about testing ridiculously early like I do. I think 4 DPO is my record!

Good luck for your peak days. I hope Mr HP knows what he's in for!

Morning to everyone else.

Enjoy your last few days of pregnancy possum and moomins.

pebs how are you doing?

OP posts:
textbook · 31/01/2013 10:02

Brilliant news Redbird - so glad for you!

I've booked my scan for 26th Feb when I will (hopefully) be 8+1. Time is going to drraaagggggg until then...

HJBeans · 31/01/2013 14:15

Hooray for redbird - really pleased to hear all is looking well at (is it?) 7-8 weeks. It's absolutely stunning to see that heartbeat, isn't it? And as jolly says, the odds really are in your favour now.

Good luck for your concerted ttc efforts, mrshp, and hope the next month flies by for you, textbook.

oo00PIXIE00oo · 01/02/2013 21:54

Aww MrsHP sorry Hun I haven't got any at home!! Am really scared coz just been put on tabs for high blood pressure -and after the two mc's in April and July thought I was passed it when nothing more happened and I turned 42 - will try and discreetly buy one tomorrow and let you all know - any advice on the beta blockers would be appreciated though x

Jollyb · 02/02/2013 11:02

pixie you've got us all in suspense here. I think beta blockers are generally ok in pregnancy - but obviously if you get your BFP tomorrow you should pop along to your GP. Have a good weekend everyone
