I've started the new thread - how exciting!!

I hope this thread will bring lots of BFPs, good scan results and healthy new arrivals.

First post alert...Had a very turbulent few months and very nervous newbie. I had a suspected ectopic miscarriage in November with first pregnancy at 7 weeks. Then found out my sister was also pregnant and our due dates would have been only a few days apart. She has now also miscarried so trying to help her through it.

We're now TTC again as doctors told us there was no need to wait. After a very over-indulgent Christmas consuming everything you're not supposed to - excess alcohol, mouldy cheese and pate think I could be pregnant again. We conceived first month of trying last time and think it could have happened again. Preparing to take a test this evening and bricking it - reassurance and support needed.

Hi lcr and sorry to hear of your loss. Know that being pg again after a mc is a mixed blessing and hope your test tonight brings happy news and not too much anxiety. You don't need worry about doing all you're not meant to have - have to believe the old wisdom of anything you do before you know you're pregnant is very unlikely to effect the baby at all. Sad truth of it is that we have very little control over whether we have a happy or sad outcome with any given pg - and it's this lack of control over something which effects us so deeply that I find perhaps hardest of all to cope with.

Lots of great stories to keep spirits up and worries in check on this thread, and when that fails lots of hand holding and support. Wishing you all of the best.

Another good scan for me today - now measuring 10w3. Lots of moving around! Really surprising it can be that active without my feeling anything.

Wondering how brave and yikes are doing?

snorkmaiden2 · 04/01/2013 20:37

Hi everyone,

Amazingly, I am 8 weeks all of a sudden! Someone warned me this would happen and it has! Passed the time of the first mc last week which always cheers me up even though there was never any particular possibility of me having another mc at that stage. I have told my best friend and DH has told his. I was totally set on not contacting the midwife until the start of Feb when I pass 12 weeks but my husband was very insistent I did. Not often he insists on anything so I did as I was told. Spoke to receptionist, telling her I didn't actually want a mw appt until after I'm 12 weeks so she has arranged for a GP to give me a call on Monday night which seems like a reasonable compromise. I'll ask him to refer me to my 12wk scan.

Feeling okay with it all really, not too mental. Actually, I've done that head in the sand thing and am totally ignoring the situation. Feeling crap enough to not worry but not so crap I can't cope. Not back to work until Monday though so will see how I am then!

Not remotely feeling confident yet, all still feels unreal but very happy to see time ticking by

Jollyb · 05/01/2013 06:37

beans really great news on the scan. I couldn't believe the difference between the 8 week and the 10 week scans. Where did the arms and legs come from?

I think brave and yikes may be on the thread in the pregnancy section. I haven't dared tempt fate by joining that one yet.

snorkmaiden congrats on passing your milestone. I can understand your reluctance to see a midwife until after your scan. My MCs always seemed to happen just after I made contact with the midwives - i've had to cancel 3 booking appointments in the past year.

iqkate so good to hear from another graduate.

Hope everyone else is doing ok too. Good luck to the 2wwers

Hiya all! Sorry not posted for a while; I've been reading posts most days but I think I feel a bit guilty posting on a mc thread that actually this pg seems to be working out ok. I've been posting more on the antenatal boards but they've started to freak me out with all their talk of buying buggies, NCT classes, etc. I just want to shake them all. So obvs I'm still feeling a bit delicate/nervous. I had a private scan last week at the FMC in London so I could have the Harmony blood test for downs as I would be so against CVS/amino given mc risk if my nuchal results were bad. (I'm 38 so a bit higher risk than others). Anyway the scan looked fine and I was on cloud 9 that day. 5 days further ahead than I thought too (am now 11+5) so going back on Monday for the proper nuchal scan and then on Thursday it's my NHS scan (with DH coming too). DH still hasn't told anyone and doesn't want to until I'm much further on. But I've told very close friends and family. Sickness starting to abate, thankfully!
Glad to hear everyone else is doing well.
And good luck to all TTC-ers!!!!

YikesHereWeGo · 05/01/2013 09:19

LittleSpade · 05/01/2013 17:06

Yay congratulations Dorita Grin

LCR77 · 05/01/2013 17:11

thanks for your words of support beans and jolly it does help especially as I can't talk to anyone else aside from my partner just yet.

After a dud test last night (the control line was very faint) I waited till this morning and came up with a BFP straight away(!!!). Very mixed feelings as it has happened so quickly after MC and need to wait until early scan at 7 weeks till I can even let myself be excited.

To all TTCers I'd recommend taking the Pregnacare Conception supplements as it seems to have worked both times!! best wishes to you all

LCR77 · 05/01/2013 17:13

and yes also in a state of shock right now...not sunken in yet

Jollyb · 05/01/2013 17:34

Wow many congrats LCR- take a deep breath and take one day at a time.

Thanks everyone! It's such a strange feeling, I feel a bit numb to it but also a bit excited. I was helping my friend move house today so told her and 2 other friends who all put me on cushion and pillow carrying duty only! Told my and dp's family today. Although it's so so so early (4 wks) they're the ones who'll hold our hands if it all goes tits up again. Plus dp's sister has asked me to be her bridesmaid in August and all being well I'll be as big as a house, so wanted to tell her at her planning stage so she can decide what she wants!

Congrats LCR77 we must be conception twins, I had a faint line yesterday and it's a strong positive one this evening. Although yesterday I did a test in work and accidentally peed on wrong side of stick so stuck it down the toilet - still got vvvv faint line though so that's a good sign!

lurcherlover · 05/01/2013 23:19

Wow lots of good news on this thread! Congratulations jolly and beans on good scans, and dorita and LCR on bfps. Great start to 2013! Hope there's lots more to come.

notsoold · 06/01/2013 00:51

Congratulations lcr and dorita...excellent news!!!

LCR77 · 06/01/2013 11:52

Thanks everyone you're very kind. Sending lots of positivity to everyone ttc and 2013 brings you everything you wish for.

LCR77 · 06/01/2013 12:10

And yes Dorita conception twins. Congratulations and hooray! working it out i should be 4+3. What about you? Want to get my early scan booked in ASAP so hoping for a midwife appt this week. So scared this could be another ectopic. Does anyone know of causes/ reasons for them?

HJBeans · 06/01/2013 15:41

Congratulations lcr and dorita! Wonderful way to start the year! Good luck with the last 8 weeks of the 12 week wait. Know how stressful as well as joyful the BFP can be and will be keeping everything crossed for you.

Hooray, too, for yikes - fantastic news that you're at nearly 12 weeks and all tests are coming back positive.

Here's hoping the good news on this thread keeps on coming!
