Thanks pip for the explanation. Better gear myself up for lots of dtd!!

Rache1S · 04/11/2012 19:57

The caffeine thing is probably a complete load of tosh. It is quite possible that sensible alcohol is as well, along with rare steak, soft cheese, runny eggs, etc. The chances of any of these things causing harm to an unborn baby are absolutely tiny. It's just that question of what if isn't it? If the worst happened would you always be left wondering if it was because you drank too much caffeine or had a small glass of wine? At least by living like a Nun (and a boring Nun at that,) like I am currently, if the worst happens I will know it wasn't because of anything I have done.

winkle2 · 04/11/2012 20:03

I agree Rache - better to be safe than sorry

HazleNutt · 04/11/2012 20:08

Well the trouble is that if you follow all advice regarding what might be harmful and my personal favourite, what has not been proven not to have any risks, so you should avoid those things just in case too, you should wrap yourself in cotton wool and live on distilled water Grin

Rache1S · 04/11/2012 21:02

Hazle I am not following all advice as most of it seems ridiculous. I have had people telling me I shouldn't eat things like Cheesecake (in case the egg isn't properly cooked), Chinese food (Too much MSG which may cause brain mutations), Pineapple (because an old wives tale says you should eat it to start labour off so you obvs shouldn't eat it before you actually want labour). The endless list goes on and on!
I think as with all things in life a big dollop of common sense is what is needed to get by.

Quodlibet · 04/11/2012 21:29

Hazle - surely only unbleached organic cotton wool? Aren't the recommendations different in France anyway?

I had the fun of trying to buy non-underwired bras today, because I can't stand the underwire at the moment, they are too sore. Hmm. Uniqlo had some alright ones in the end.

janey1234 · 04/11/2012 22:01

I might need to buy some soon too... DP announced last night that my boobs had 'at least doubled in size' and I wasn't teeny to begin with (32e) - none if the fit me really already? Annoying...

How are those of you on the 2ww doing? Any POAS coming up?

janey1234 · 04/11/2012 22:02

Of them - not if the - bloody phone...

Aquarius1 · 04/11/2012 22:31

Hi Janey, I'm 3/4 dpo and getting rather impatient already - af due 15th - have bought a FRER test ready for Sun. ho hum...... Just enjoying a glass of red during downton.....

Pipbin · 04/11/2012 22:37

And then what is Downton all about? Babies, babies and more sodding babies.

happylass · 04/11/2012 22:38

Hello again all. Just been lurking lately as absolutely nothing to report! I'm 7dpo as I OVd early on cd11 but not sure when to test. Based on my only cycle since coming off the pill AF isn't due until 14th by which time I'll be 17 dpo and don't think I can control myself for that long without POAS. How many dpo were all you pg ladies when you got your BFPs?

Pipbin · 04/11/2012 22:44

Oh, I made an actual Elderberry Pavlova (well mixed berry) and I've uploaded it to my profile. See what this TTCing lark has done to me.

Aquarius1 · 04/11/2012 22:48

I know pipbin i'll be well narked if she's up the duff for the christmas special and we're not. Downton was a bit disappointing generally I thought.... Did chortle at the dowager's take on mothering though - seeing them for an hour after dinner each day... Apparently that's not how it works any more

Bunnygirlie · 04/11/2012 22:51

I watched Friends yesterday and what was it about - babies!!! And I know it's only coz it's on my mind but EVeRYoNE in town is pg!!!!!!!

That pav sounds nice Pip :-)

Pipbin · 04/11/2012 23:16

Bunny I'm sure not this many women were either pg or pushing prams when I wasn't TTCing. I think they all wait until I go out.

winkle2 · 04/11/2012 23:47

Have dtd again this eve! Come on eggy get fertilised!

We've dtd cd 9, 10, 12, 13, 15 and 17 so far... Hurry up eggy!!

Quodlibet · 05/11/2012 07:06

Wow winkle that is some impressive dtding. Fingers crossed for you and all you 2wwing ladies. Let's hope we have another flurry of bfps this month.

Happylass 17 days is on the long side for your luteal phase - maybe that was your body adjusting after the pill? I got my Bfp at 13dpo but I think Janey got hers at 10. So maybe not too long to wait...

Pipbin that Elderberry Pavlova is impressive. Is the base meringue? Takes a lot of eggs to make one of them, quite fitting really...

happylass · 05/11/2012 08:22

Thanks Quod. Before I went on the pill some of my cycles were as short as 25 days which would be about right if I OVd on cd11. Think ill wait until 14 dpo and test then.

HazleNutt · 05/11/2012 08:23

Morning all,

happylass, I got the BFP also around 10 dpo. As I complained though, the so-called ulta-sensitive tests were showing a N several days after the Cb digital was telling me "pregnant", so also depends on what tests you are using.

7+3 here and now worried that I don't have proper morning sickness, just a very mild one. Although a) not that it's anything pleasant, b) not all women get it and c) had a bad one last time at 5 weeks already and it didn't work out, so it does not actually show anything.

The boobs are indeed growing, good I have a trip to London planned in a few weeks anyway, as the French don't believe anything over a C-cup exists.

Bunnygirlie · 05/11/2012 08:34

Have a bit of a problem this month, hubby growing a mo so soon I won't want to go near him Confused

OP posts:
HazleNutt · 05/11/2012 08:49

Bunny, this might be a solution?

(not that your DH looks anything like that guy, but you get my drift)

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 05/11/2012 09:07

pipbin that pavlova looks YUM!!

BraveLilBear · 05/11/2012 10:16

I hear your pain on the coffee front Quod! I have cut back caffeine too. When I got my BFP before, I stripped it back straight away to one cup of coffee in the morning then decaf/water rest of the day.

Coffee is my one guilty pleasure. Honestly. Never did drugs or smoked (led a sheltered life to date lol) but coffee is and always has been my friend.

But instead of missing it, I've decided to really enjoy my one cup of leaded every day... plus there are half a dozen cafes where I work, and all but one are Costa, with the other Starbucks. They all do decaff. So it doesn't hurt so bad. Grin

Echo the babies everywhere thing - ridiculous! The day I lost my last pg at 5+2, the OH and I were watching the first season of How I Met Your Mother. The particular episode was all about am I/aren't I pregnant with lots of drama - totally unexpected! Didn't entirely see the funny side!

BraveLilBear · 05/11/2012 10:18

BTW - have found the perfect 2ww distraction - our boiler has blown up. Now at seven days no heat or hot water (grateful that everything else electric, inc shower).

Oh - and I had a royal visit at the weekend from my mother, who I think is still in denial about us TTC as she didn't mention it at all... The cleaning frenzy was highly distracting and had a definite positive side effect, too! Grin

Quodlibet · 05/11/2012 11:20

So how about this for rubbish: DP's flight has now been cancelled, so he is stuck in Japan and won't be home until tomorrow evening now!! We have had shit luck this week - I was really looking forward to seeing him after spending the last 5 days here in the flat by myself. We've still only seen each other for 24 hrs since I got the BFP. Angry
