Hello,

As the title suggests I came off the Yasmin pill 6 months ago thinking that I would fall pregnant straight away (partly because that is what the nurse hinted). Forward 6 months and not only am I not pregnant I also haven't had AF! I am very stressed about AF not arriving, especially as most of the ladies on MN talk about AF arriving. I had a blood test two weeks ago and results came back normal. I've also had a swab test, again results came back normal. I've got an internal scan booked in for September...cannot wait for that. Anyway if anyone else would like to share your experience it would be nice to hear from you!

Hi Canyou I've been TTC 5 months but came off pill almost 6 mths ago now. It's really hard not having AF turn up let alone no BFP, never imagined myself to be in this position. Everyone around me has a baby or is pregnant so that makes it harder every month. My first blood test came back fine too. It showed that I was either at the first stage of my cycle or last stage. The doctor and I worked out that it was more likely to be my first stage. I've been using the digital cb sticks so when I got a LH surge I went in for second blood test (on Tuesday) to see if I did ovulate this month. I'll hear the results for that on Tuesday along with the scan. Yes, please come back and share your experience, I'll do the same. FX it all goes well and you get some positive answers to help move things along!!

Hi Pear, off for my scan in the morning, feeling fretful so thought I'd check in here this evening. How are you feeling about yours on Tuesday? I'm presuming I will get some initial feedback straight away tomorrow, and will then book a doctors appointment when GP has been forwarded info from the hospital. I've been trying not to google possible causes, but as I'm by nature not very patient it's been tricky. I've been feeling very PMT-ish for a few days with cramping, general moodiness but no sign of AF, and a BFN this morning A friend of mine mentioned the internal camera can be uncomfortable so I'm planning on taking a Nurofen before I leave. Any diagnosis or feedback is going to be helpful, as we are totally in the dark at the moment. Trying to think positively in that this time tomorrow I may have some idea of whats going on. I'll pop by over the weekend & share how it went.

Hello Canyou I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I bet you can't believe the day has finally arrived. I didn't realise you were having a camera? I'm just having an internal scan. They say it's not painful at all, my real life friends say its better then a smear test. I'm feeling 50/50 about my test. Half of me is wondering if I have PCOS and the other half feels I just haven't given my body long enough to recover from being on the pill. I was reading Zita west book today and she mentions it does take a few months for your natural hormones to kick in. Best of luck for tomorrow and I shall look forward to hearing how it went x

Hi pear, you are right about the camera...not sure why I put that! It was just an internal & not painful at all - lasted about 5 mins. I also had an external ultrasound before the internal, which also lasted about 5 mins. I had a really miserable sonographer, who made the process quite difficult. She revealed very little, I had to practically beg for some feedback. Anyway, she said I have PCOS, with lots of small cysts on each ovary. She also mentioned my ovaries are very small? I'm booking a GP appointment for as soon as I can get away from work this week to discuss the results & next steps. It's nice to know there is an underlying issue and not just me being a hypochondriac. Although, the patient care today has really made me consider potentially taking the next steps privately. My sister today found out she is expecting her 4th, just 8 weeks after having her 3rd. It feels terrible. I'm totally devastated, envious etc etc. Off for a glass of Wine.

Hi Canyou I'm so sorry to hear your news. I can't imagine how you're feeling after the results, plus news of a family baby. I can totally understand why you would consider going private after that experience, it might help speed things along for you too. I really hope you get clear answers very soon and treatment progresses quickly whichever route you decide to take x

Thanks so much for you kind words pear, its so nice coming from somebody in the same boat. In some ways I'm pleased to have a diagnosis, I can imagine the limbo of unexplained infertility being much worse. Best of luck for Tuesday, I really hope its just your body settling down after the pill. Let me know how you get on if you like, I have GP on Tuesday to talk through next steps so I'll check back in as some may end up being helpful to you x

Good Luck tomorrow pear, I'll be thinking of you x

Hello, I need to update this thread. Hi Canyou thanks for thinking of me. You had such a stressful weekend I didn't want to share that I woke up on Saturday with terrible cramps (likely inplantation linked) and I got a BFP. The terrible cramps lasted 3 days and I was admitted to hospital yesterday for concerns with ectopic pregnancy. I've had many tests and the ones that are back show that pregnancy is developing. I was still told to go to my scan yesterday, it didn't show anything because it's too early. They didn't say there were any obvious concerns with cysts etc. I've now been discharged from hospital and I'm resting at home. So I guess it turns out that you can get no periods for 6 months an still fall pregnant on the 6 month, it doesn't mean there is something wrong. Canyou I'm sorry for the late update but I wanted to be sensitive towards your situation and I was scared about the pains I was getting along with BFP, hope you understand. Did you have a good chat with your GP?

CanYouGetDownPlease · 12/09/2012 21:24

Hi pear, what fantastic news! Massive massive congratulations to you Thanks Of course I understand the delay and think you are wonderful for even thinking to be sensitive, you must be overjoyed. I will have my fingers crossed for a stress free 9 months for you from now on in. I had a good chat with GP thanks for asking, my most recent blood tests can back abnormal in terms of my FSH and LH levels, and the sonographers notes from the scan show at least 15 cysts on each ovary. I've been prescribed Metformin, with a review booked for 6 weeks time.
I'm so pleased for you, best of luck xx

peardrop2 · 12/09/2012 21:38

Thank you Canyou! It is early days and I have to just take one day at a time.

That is very positive news to hear that your GP is helping you take a step in the right direction. There was a lady on my ward who was admitted for acute abdominal pains. I overheard her tell the doctor that she was diagnosed with PCOS 12yrs ago with cysts on both ovaries, she went on to have two children now age 11 and 8. I thought of you and thought what a lovely positive story to share. Also, a close friend of mine with cysts on ovaries took 1 does of Chlomid last year and now has a beautiful 3 month old boy. Your time will come very soon! Hang in there and I wish you lots of baby dust mixed with a little help from Metmorfin :) x

I have been on the pill for 11 years and while I was on the pill, my periods stopped. So my doctor told me I had to come off the pill ASAP and wait for it to come. I came off the pill the 6th of September and still no sign. I've had all blood tests and all are normal. I've got a ultrasound scan in two weeks and I've tried the ovulating sticks but that was negative too. I really want to bring my periods on as I'm ready to try for a baby but stressing is taking over right now! Any suggestions for bringing the periods on?

MouseLove · 01/11/2016 21:42

Wow Alexandria they moved quick!! I am on CD47 off my pill. I took cerelle for the last year with no AF and before that I took mycrogynon for 11 years and had a regular like clockwork bleed.

Like everyone else, had no withdrawal bleed and no AF yet. I was at the docs for an unrelated matter and he suggested that if my AF doesn't show in a few months then I should go see them again.
