Due to the luck thread starters have, I thought I'd mark a place for the second thread as we are so chatty!

Here's to BFPs for us all :-)

Morning all

newbie and kick glad your both getting some answers as to why you've not been feeling well. kick my bil has been diabetic since he was 5 years old and he manages it really well. Once you've got your bloods under control you'll learn your body again and ttc will be back on the agenda before you know it.

Well I'm out for a June bfp Sad af arrived this morning. Oh well lots more trying next month Grin

Anyone else waiting to test or for af?

NicolaHazel · 16/06/2012 08:52

Hi Lisa

I'm CD26 on first post-pill cycle. Thought AF was coming Thursday, but it was seemingly a false alarm! Cracked and tested today...BFN.

See what happens next!

Temps this morning confirm I OV'd yesterday(CD16) so the spotting yesterday must have been ovulation bleeding. We've been good bunnies this cycle, DH was let out of hospital early so we were able to SWI almost every day this week. We've been TTC for almost a year but various (shitty) circumstances have been keeping us from giving it a proper go. This would be the first month where I really feel like we've been really trying. By that I mean, I've been trying the whole time but this is the first month that DH has been taking it seriously as well.

Now we enter the 2WW. I've become pretty good at convincing myself I'm not PG so I don't get too disappointed when AF comes but this month is going to be a hard one for both of us if it doesn't work out. Fx though, we've had so much bad luck this past year, we could both really use something positive.

QueenOfTheDrama · 16/06/2012 09:20

Hi popinda Smile Got faint line on cheapie hpt at 9DPO then BFP on digi test the next day. Symptoms so far are sore boobs, tired, bloated, spotty, hormonal - oh the glamour Grin

Sorry to hear about afs arriving/bfns... I remember a lot of one will be testing at the end of the month so maybe its just a bit early for bfps yet. I'm going to keep lurking anyway to get your updates, fx for you all!

Newbie2 · 16/06/2012 10:29

Oh dear I've totally ruined DTD this weekend by telling my DH that I've OVd this weekend. What was I thinking!!! Why did I not realise that would be a total mood kill for him? :( Note to myself Never Ever ever share that you've OVd again!!

alwayshopeful13 · 16/06/2012 20:10

Evening all. Sounds like lots has happened for us all - in our different ways - this week. Big luck and love to everyone. Medusa - good luck with the 2ww...in a week or so I'll be joining you :-)

Here's my update, with wine in hand (actually - the wine, I'm on the fizz)...

The Tuesday hint of bleeding (AF/implantation?) most definitely turned out to be AF. 28 day cycle after everything being totally unpredictable for the last few months. Hey ho....better to know I guess. We always hoped we'd be pg before end June (would have been due 29 June), so that was not to be. And best friend was due this week (still waiting), so that's tough too no matter what happy face I manage to put on.

Totally overanalysing everything of course and wondering why it didn't happen quickly post mc in December (having got pg 2nd month of trying). Listening to MN pals I decided to speak to GP, just in case there is an underlying problem. Long story (next bookable appt July 10th, hello?!!!) but got a telephone consultation yesterday and bottom line is I'm seeing doc on Friday (very normal to be trying for a year, oh periods strange since mc, you should come in and see a gp...). Hoping she'll send me for tests, at least just to be sure I am actually ovulating. And if I'm not then at least we can start investigating properly whether there is anything wrong.

Happy Saturday everyone. Hope those of you on the vino are enjoying it!

xx

Popinda · 16/06/2012 20:36

newbie I don't think epo is supposed to shorten your cycle, I think is supposed make more sperm friendly cm. vitex is supposed to shorten your cycle. Please free to correct me if I'm mistaken, but this is how I understood it. Smile also it is nice to see the second line on ov stick, isn't it! I was so happy when mine appeared! My dh was so nice when I told him is that time of the month (meaning I'm ov) after we dtd he stroke my tummy and talk to his little swimmers to do a good job! Also he told them to make sure it's going to be a boy! Grin
I'm now joining the 2ww with some of you lovely ladies! I'm trying so hard not to symptom spot is driving me crazy! Smile telling myself if I don't symptom spot I'll def be pg this month! Crazy, hey! Smile
Who is testing next week? I'm sure I'll will test much earlier as my poas addiction is out of control now! Grin

alwayshopeful13 · 16/06/2012 20:44

Hello newbie - good luck with your 2ww!

I'm sure you're prob right about EPO. I'd heard it was supposed to balance cycle post mc (as well as generating sperm friendly cm). And it could be a coincidence but I took EPO for the first time last month and my cycle went back to 28 days and clockwork (literally used to be able to predict within an hour) as it was pre-mc, having been all a mess since December. But as I say, maybe a coincidence.

I won't be testing for 3 weeks at least :-( x

Popinda · 16/06/2012 20:52

hopeful I know arrival of af is not what any of us want at the moment, but at least now your cycle is back to normal and you can predict your ov better and dtd when time is right. Grin do you use ov sticks? I do must say that I only used epo for about 3 day before ov but my ewcm was excellent this cycle. Never had that before? So secretly very hopeful this month. Sorry if tmi! Grin I'm so positive about epo I gave it to my friend who is also ttc for sometime now! I told her she will have to name the child after me if she gets pg this month! GrinGrin

alwayshopeful13 · 16/06/2012 20:59

Popinda no worries about TMI! I reckon the whole point of this thread (and MN generally) is we can all be as honest as we need to be to figure all this out and stay sane through it all :-)

We did use ov sticks but they've always been negative. And it's a v basic question I know but I've never really understood whether getting a regular period means you're deffo ovulating... Esp because I've read here and elsewhere that ov sticks aren't always reliable. And I know (from first pg) that we are able to conceive, so always tempted to assume ov sticks are just wrongly timed.

So I'm hoping doc will do the blood test which will establish for once and for all whether ov is happening as it should be.

Glad to hear you're hopeful this month. And "hope" is totally where it's at...seriously (and I know I would say that....my nickname etc! :-)

Popinda · 16/06/2012 21:29

hopeful I used ov sticks for the first time was using them from about cd6 twice same time a day ( for some unknown reason I thought I ov early) and by cd14 I was loosing a hope that I actually will ever ov, almost gave up on testing (but my addiction to poas got better of me Grin) and started to test randomly every other day or so and on cd17 and cd18 I got too lines! Couldn't believe it!!! Now I'm going to repeat myself, but it was amazing feeling! Felt like a women! iykwim! Grin maybe you ov later or earlier than you think and that's why you haven't been able to caught it? Confused

Popinda · 16/06/2012 21:32

Forgot, not sure if getting af means you ov. I would think not necessary. Does anyone else has more info about this?
hopeful good luck with you blood test. Do you need to have that on particular cd? How is blood test going to tell you that you ov? Confused sorry i have virtually now knowledge about this! I always assumed I will get pg the day I stop taking contraception! Isn't that what we all have been told? Look at all the people getting pg on the pill! Confused

MissMedusa · 16/06/2012 23:34

OV sticks are not very reliable and it's easy to miss your LH surge. I got my first positive this cycle when I tested late afternoon on CD14 and it was negative again by the time I tested again the next morning. I OV'd 2 days later on CD16. On the 2 days leading up to the positive and on the next morning I got a very faint line but that's it. In previous cycles I had only tested in the morning and I never got a positive.

alwayshopeful13 · 16/06/2012 23:59

Thanks Medusa - that's really interesting about your ov sticks. Despite what the tests show, I've always been pretty sure I ovulate every month (other signs inc what I suspect is ov pain). But have never had any better than a faint positive line on the ov tests (and I'm using the Boots ones which say it's only positive if test line is same or darker as control line....which has never happened). But sounds like it's possible I'm just missing LH surge. Plus however much I try it's never exactly the same time each day when I test, and the instructions say it should be same time.

Will be interesting to see what GP recommends. I plan to drive a hard bargain for some tests and - OV sticks aside - my cycle post mc is random in lots of ways so hopefully GP will agree and decide tests are in order! I'll keep you all posted :-)

Popinda · 17/06/2012 00:00

medusa how do you know you actually ov'd?

alwayshopeful13 · 17/06/2012 00:02

Popinda don't know yet exactly whether I'll get the blood test. Just that lovely NHS direct nurse said it's the only way to be sure you're ovulating, and then recommended the back way into getting my GP to refer me for tests. Had phone consultation with doc yesterday (because it was 3 weeks til next possible appt!) and she agreed to bring me in for proper consultation because she said "your cycle sounds erratic. We should investigate if there's something wrong." So I'm guessing that means she'll send me for blood tests. Seeing GP Friday so who knows.... Will keep you all posted!

Popinda · 17/06/2012 00:04

hopeful they do say is very easy to miss the lh surge, but when I ov'd, I tested three random times of the day in the space of about 30hours and got very strong positive every time.

alwayshopeful13 · 17/06/2012 00:05

Medusa I know I ov'd because I got pregnant....and mced at 11 weeks. And at the time of the mc in Dec doc said given I always get the ov pain plus "favourable discharge" (nice!) signs were all good and we should have no probs.

MissMedusa · 17/06/2012 10:58

I think it depends on the person and the concentration of LH. I think it's possible to not have such a high concentration and still ovulate meaning you will never get a very dark line. Some women get a faint line throughout their cycles meaning the stick pick up on a low concentration LH all the time and then the line gets significantly darker when they get their surge. I don't get any line at all throughout most of my cycle and the surge is only detected for a very short period of time and only then, for a brief window, if the line even as dark as the test line and never darker. I think my concentration of LH is simply a bit lower but it's still there.

Popinda I know I OV'd this month as I track my temperature and my temps are lower than my cover line (around 36.35°) before I OV and above that after I OV. The usually take a little dip on the day before I OV (which they did this month) so I can guess when it's coming and this month I had the added bonus of a small amount of ovulation bleeding.

What can happen and what happened to me once is that after a few days of high temps my temp dropped again which likely meant I did not really OV - my body geared up for it but then for some reason (stress due to dental surgery, most likely) it failed. That month, my temps styed low for about a week after that and then the whole process started again and I OV'd again (for real) on CD26. That month my cycle lasted 36 days which is significantly longer than normal.

In a nutshell, if your temperatures rise and stay high until the end of your cycle, you can be sure you ovulated. In fact, I think that's the only way you can be sure without a test.

Newbie2 · 17/06/2012 11:48

I tested again for OV yesterday and nothing. No idea why I got a darker line on Friday. Thought I was OVing but now I am doubtful. On CD 35 post pill with no signs of AF arriving. Im now in limbo land again...boring!

NicolaHazel · 17/06/2012 12:39

Hi Newbie

I'm not testing, but I'm on CD27 post-pill and I don't feel pre-menstrual at all (after false symptoms last week). At least I still could have a 28 - 30 day cycle, though I'm not convinced.

First post-contraception cycle is a bit odd really, physically and mentally, I think!

Hi all, day 57 for me today and counting. Felt quite down about it all yesterday after another BFN. I know there is nothing I can do about it but it's just so frustrating.

Newbie and Nicola I hope you are not waiting as long as me and Echo have been.

I have a feeling AF will show next weekend just in time for a wedding we are attending on Sunday. Just so that I am nice and bloated in my new dress and probably a moody cow.

So no one got a fathers day BFP then?

Newbie2 · 17/06/2012 13:04

Nicola bet now you know there is a long wait post pill you're glad you came off before the wedding! How are the plans going by the way? Your dress looked georgeous. I have mega post wedding blues :(

Mcclairey have you had any more thoughts about speaking to your GP? I can't imagine how frustrated you're!

NicolaHazel · 17/06/2012 13:25

I really feel for you and Echo, Maclairey :-(

Is there nothing you can do? Would Pinkie's recommended Vitex help?

Must be frustrating.

And no BFP here, no :-(

Oh, and plans going fine, Newbie...kind of a lull at the moment waiting for RSVPs to come in and payment dates to come round!

Thank you for liking the dress. I love it more every time I try it on :-) Just my sister's bridesmaid dress to have made now. I got the sample for the material this week, so that's good to go. So not a total lull, ha ha!

And definitely glad I came off the pill early, yes!
