Have a breastfed baby or toddler? Why not try for another one?! Who needs sleep anyway?

Come join us whether you are waiting for your first period in months or are are a few months into trying.

Ps. Jenni how long did you leave the cup in place for? Didn't want to take it out and ruin its good work but started to worry how hygienic it was?? Confused

jennimoo · 11/01/2013 17:26

We usually DTD at night so left it til morning. I think as its ok to leave it up to 8h for AF the same applies, so I'd leave it a good couple of hours then whenever is convenient to give it a wash.

DD was a milk monster and partly coincides with being pg. she did say a couple of times 'not work' but also did that a while back and got me thinking I must have been pg but wasn't.

Obviously I'm very glad to be pg but had forgotten how debilitating the tiredness and nausea is, and no sitting quietly with a toddler. At 4pm yesterday I turned on cbeebies and fell asleep on sofa for half an hour, but felt like a very bad mummy!

Jakeyblueblue · 11/01/2013 17:34

Oh that's ok then! I dtd this am about 7 and left it until lunch. Smile
Well I hope the same happens here. I still love bf but I am getting a bit tired now. Would be thrilled if he weaned himself in pregnancy.
Don't feel like a bad mum. I had to put cbeebies on earlier and lie on the sofa for half an hr earlier, and I'm not preggo! None of us are superhuman!! I remember the nausea and tiredness and you've got to do what you've got to do to get by! Smile

jennimoo · 11/01/2013 18:45

Thanks jakey :)

Jakeyblueblue · 12/01/2013 17:43

Well another cycle where I haven't the foggiest what's going on. Cm has def dried up completely. Sore nips remain but that's quite normal for a day or two. Am thinking I ov'd on Thursday as I feared so think its highly unlikely I'm preggers this time. There's still a niggle in mind that I haven't though as seemed to have less ewcm and less pain. Will just have to not take my eye off the ball and if the ewcm returns, the shagging will have to commence again, yawn! Grin

BlueCrane · 12/01/2013 22:39

Hi all...we're not yet Ttc again as still no sign of af! DS is now 7.5m and still fully bf although obviously having some food as well but still having 6 bf per 24hours. For the past week I have felt very crampy, lots of Ewcm and one of my boobs seems to have gone into overdrive with milk production (bit random) oh and I have heartburn again for the first time since I gave birth...had it bad in last pregnancy. So...my question is whether you think I may be ovulating at the moment and could expect af to return soon...or whether its all just v different for everyone in terms of when it comes back! Interested to hear your experiences! Oh, and I did a test the other day which came up bfn as wondered if that might be a possibility but is a little while since we Dtd! Thanks in advance

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 13/01/2013 08:40

bluecrane don't worry too much as your LO is still so young. It will take them a while to eat a decent amount of filling food like proteins and complex carbs. My period didn't return till 12mo.

My AF is now a week late. POAS I can see a very very faint line. But they are 10mlU early tests so shouldn't I see a somewhat darker line by now? I think I will keep testing until I'm certain the line is definitely there Hmm.

Jakeyblueblue · 13/01/2013 08:50

Do a digital terror Smile

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 13/01/2013 09:02

Um I need to sneak out and buy one then. DH will give me a Hmm look if I go out and buy yet another thing that's ttc related. I can try sneaking out before lunch to the asda near my work. I wouldn't want risk lunch time proper as it'd be awkward bumping into colleagues holding a clear blue digital!

Jakeyblueblue · 13/01/2013 09:13

Or go to the drs tmrw and ask for a blood test??

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 13/01/2013 09:28

Last time I told them I can't really read if the cheapie shows a positive. The midwife just told me the pregnancy tests are very accurate and that's it! I assume they don't get many women going to them with false positives? Or maybe everyone is either doing lots of poas with cheapies or getting digital ones!

BlueCrane · 13/01/2013 09:35

Thanks for the replies...just need to be patient but it is a bit strange with the waiting and wondering again...guess my main concern is whether I'm pg again but test def says no, so guess I just need to wait for af to show!

neddle · 13/01/2013 17:51

Newbie to the thread -hi!

Looking to conceive #5 shortly, but I'm still bf #4. He's 14m but I've fed most of the others to around 2ish. I'm unwilling to wean purely for ttc as that seems a bit unfair on him.

We're probably just going to start trying and see how it goes. But I was wondering how I'll figure out a due date if I did fall pregnant as af hasn't really got back to normal yet. I've got a mirena (shortly to be removed) and along with bf, haven't had a normal period yet, just some spotting on nye.

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 14/01/2013 09:05

Welcome to the thread neddle. My estimated due date was changed after the 12 week scan last time. They measure the foetus and do an estimation of its age. I'm sure you won't be the only one who doesn't know your last period date! I have never tracked my period except ttc this time.

Jakey, I told my DH yesterday about booking a midwife appointment. He asked what if you aren't pregnant because we are useless are reading that stick? I replied there are digital tests and we went to the supermarket to get one. He didn't need much convincing that it's not a waste of money after all. The clear blue digital said I'm 2-3 weeks which seems very accurate given my 29 day cycles and AF being one week late.

CorporeSarnie · 15/01/2013 14:08

Hi all, I haven't posted much or in ages as it has been very busy here. Soooo, have some interesting symptoms going on. TMI alert: no period, but started using OPKs last week to see what was happening (Amazon cheap ones), saw a strong +ve last Weds, some ewcm, dtd that evening, then some mild cramping over weekend. Yesterday started a bleed, lighter than I remember my periods being (but it has been almost 2y since last AF), still bleeding today but no clots and only just enough blood to need a pad vs a liner iyswim. In my last pregnancy I had an implantation bleed lasting a couple of days before I got a BFP.
Have I magically gotten pregnant without having AF?
Or is my LP catastrophically short and AF has finally returned?
I guess I will know in a few days when I feel brave enough to test.
Glad to hear there has been more good news on here - makes me feel like I'm not being a mentalist to get scared at what I've done excited

Jakeyblueblue · 15/01/2013 14:39

Woohoo! Congrats terror!! Smile
Another graduate, looks like I'm going to be pretty lonely here Sad
Welcome to the newbies! I wouldn't worry about date of last period, as terror said, any scan will date a pregnancy and a digital test will date it fairly accurately in the early stages.
Welcome back copore! Keep us posted on developments. Fingers crossed for you! Smile
Well I'm going to slope off and look for a blatantly infertile and fed up thread to join! Sad

MrsHuxtable · 16/01/2013 11:16

Jakey You'll not be lonely, I'll be hanging around here for ages I bet. Maybe I should post more often but then I don't want to get too obsessed yet since we're still using the bloody condoms.

However, it's CD24 today and I had an almost positive result on a cheapie ov test this morning. Oh, the hell of interpreting those sticks. I'd say my test line is 90% as dark as the control line. I know you're meant to test in the afternoon but I decided to do it 3 times a day now !

Do you close friends in RL about your efforts of ttc while bfing? Besides my "mum friends" who are in the same boat, I've been talking to my closest friend and she just doesn't seem to get the obsession. She's got no children and doesn't see the point of me wanting to know if I ovulate or if I have a decent luteal phase when we're only ttc in 2-3 months. Heck, the way I see it is that if I have cycled over 40 days that's only about 2 cycles to go so I do want to know if there's anything I can do at this point to increase my chances in a couple of months time. But then she has no clue about fertility and her own body and seem to think that getting pregnant is a doodle.

Rant over!

MrsHuxtable · 16/01/2013 11:18

Do you tell close friends, that should have said.

Lis999 · 16/01/2013 15:28

Hi all - I'm new. I have an almost 9-month-old, who is BFing 3-4 times a day and 2-3 times a night, and I got my first PP AF on December 17. I immediately started charting and TTC no 2 and this cycle has been so frustrating. I have had two positive OPK smileys on CD 15 and CD 28, but no temperature shift so I know I didn't ovulate either time. I'm now on day 31 of my cycle with no end in sight. Do those of you who have had long cycles find that you do eventually ovulate? I am trying to figure out if I should keep TTC or just give up for this cycle. Thanks!

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 16/01/2013 15:34

Just relax a bit lis your cycle will settle down sooner or later. Maybe just stop charting and simply shagging for a bit and see how it goes first?

MrsHuxtable · 16/01/2013 16:13

Hello Lis, glad to see I'm not the only newbie on a mission. Did another test this afternoon and it was darker than this morning. Dh claims it's darker than the control line. Anyway, I'm just assuming now it means I'm ovulating and don't even want to consider the option of getting positive tests but without ovulation following. Which leaves the luteal phase to worry about. How exactly do I know how long it is? If my ov test shows I'm ovulating some time soon in the future, which day am I meant to count from?

Lis999 · 16/01/2013 17:46

You typically ovulate 24-36 hours after a positive OPK. But the only way to know for sure is to take your waking temp every day and watch for a temperature shift to confirm ovulation. I use the fertilityfriend website and find it very helpful for that.

I am trying to relax but I can't help myself. Once I start TTC I get really insane about it. So this long crazy cycle is driving me nuts!

MrsHuxtable · 16/01/2013 19:32

Yes, I know about the temperature shift confirming ovulation. However, DD still feeds so much during the night, I won'r get my 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Will buy a thermometre anyway and start temping next cycle.

It's all I can bloody think about!

Jakeyblueblue · 16/01/2013 22:45

Hi everyone and welcome!
I guess I'm the most senior member now! Hope we all have some good luck soon.
Lis, my first few cycles were like that and that's why I've stopped using opk's. kept getting false positives. I don't think I've ever had a cycle where I didn't ovulate eventually, but have def had cycles where I could tell my body kept trying before it actually managed it. Don't give up and consider looking at other fertile signs such as cm. we were trying for ds for 18 months and even saw a fertility nurse. He told us we weren't trying hard enough and to go away and dtd three times a week, every week and then also whenever ewcm was present. I did what she said and I fell Preg that month!
Luteal phase has been my problem but am on vit b6 for last two cycles which have lengthened mine from 10 to 12 days. I get ov pain so I count from the day I have that to day of AF. I can't temp either due to lack of uninterrupted sleep. Have tried but failed!!
Huxtable. Most people know we are ttc but and most of my very close friends know its prob the bf that's not helping. Ds is 18 months so I am starting to get a few 'why don't you just wean' comments. Recently one of my best friends who only actually has one tube, fell Preg whilst bf, first month of trying. Pleased for her but I did think how come its so easy for her!!! Oh well, onward and upward I guess!
7dpo here. Not testing until next week. Not symptom
Spotting. Am over it this month!!

MrsHuxtable · 17/01/2013 13:39

How is everyone today?
I've bought a thermometre and will start charting tomorrow. I co-sleep with DD so wasn't sure how often and when she's waking to feed in the night, so last night I decided to check my phone everytime she woke to feed and it's pretty much on the dot 3 hourly. So I reckon that if she feeds about 3 and then again 6, I could take my temperature then and just hope that the stretch of sleep I had was long enough.
Have also had loads of cm durinh the last couple of days and cramping so am wondering if that also points to the ov stick being right.

Jakey It must be hard watchinga bf friend fall pregnant so easily. In my current mum and baby group, 4 of us are ttc, well 3 of them have been already and I will join in in a couple of months. I can just see it happen that all of them will fall really soon and I will be the only one left.
