Since I've this morning fallen off the March bus, I've chartered and boarded April 2012s bus.

So to start

Sukie1971 (40) ttc#2 AF due 24th July (ish)

Still no AF, though she's due today, and still a BFN on the pee stick though I've been feeling really off kilter and cramping for a few days. I think it must all be in my head??? :-/

Hi, well I just had a rollercoaster of a 24 hours and I thought I would share on MN for some advice. We went for a scan yesterday morning at EPAU which showed an some empty sac (the thought a pseudo sac) in the womb and a 'cyst' in a tube with 8mm something showing in it. So suspected ectopic pregnancy - not good. BUt I was reluctant for the op and wanted to see blood results on hormones before I agreed to the op (drugs were not an option as I had collapsed in pain last Saturday although not passed out).

Hormone level was at 4000 which they said almost confirmed ectopic as they would expect to see heartbeat on scan with that level of hormone. So I agreed to op which I had last night. I was devastated last night and really couldn't comprehend losing the pregnancy and halving future chances in one foul swoop.

Anyway I eventually came round - I am RUBBUSH with GA - to be told that once they got in there they couldn't find anything on my tubes which looked fine, all be it with increased blood supply and here I am back at home battered and bruised.

They are now saying it could be a viable pregnancy but equally, given the lack of heartbeat or anything else in the uterine sac it might be a slow miscarriage. I have another scan booked for Thursday so fingers crossed I am still on the APril bus by then.

I wondered if anyone knew the dangers to pregnancy of the GA drugs on the feotus?

MockCroc · 19/08/2011 16:26

Does anyone know whether there is an ante natal thread for those due in April '12? Good luck all of you who are still waiting. Finger crossed x

Sn0wGoose · 19/08/2011 16:54

Hi fannyann. Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, but that all sounds terrifying - good luck with the scan, do let us know how it goes!

FannyAnnPam · 19/08/2011 17:37

thanks snowgoose, it is very scary, I never realised how strongly I would feel so quickly towards the 'baby'.

DH was talking about it as an alien which needed removing but I couldn't see it as a bad think even if it was lodged in my tubes and ready to kill me!

FannyAnnPam · 19/08/2011 17:56

thing not think... doh!!

BartletForAmerica · 20/08/2011 12:22

This is a journal paper about anaesthetics in pregnancy:

ceaccp.oxfordjournals.org/content/6/2/83.full

"Studies of outcomes in large numbers of women who underwent surgery during pregnancy suggest no increase in congenital abnormalities but a greater risk of abortion, growth restriction and low birth weight."

Hope that reassures you a little. Hope it all works out for you.

BartletForAmerica · 20/08/2011 12:40

I'm so sorry, meant to add this bit from it as well.

"These studies concluded that problems resulted from primary disease or the surgical procedure itself rather than exposure to anaesthesia."

BartletForAmerica · 20/08/2011 12:41

So anaesthetics themselves don't cause problems, they think it is due to the other problems these women had that meant they needed operations.

I do hope that is reassuring.

MichaelaS · 20/08/2011 17:28

oh no fannyannpan what a roller coaster. heres hoping that it is a viable pregnancy in a good place and they just didn't get the right images. xxx

FannyAnnPam · 21/08/2011 10:28

Thanks BFA, I did a bit of reading and it seems that lots of pregnant women go through surgery for various reasons and overall there are no probs afterwards, which can be directly related to the GA.

I have to say I really don't feel pregnant today, boobs have shrunk altho nips still 'nippy' (TMI I know!) but just feel battered, swollen and puffy at the moment.

Trying to stay positive, all emotions are chemical reactions and all that!

Sn0wGoose · 21/08/2011 10:28

Sn0wGoose · 23/08/2011 12:30

Ha ha ha I shall have to test that theory, thanks Merconium!! :)

FannyAnnPam · 23/08/2011 16:02

Well I am being driven MENTAL at the moment, I swing from feeling preggers to not and just feeling rubbish!

I have a post-op scan booked for Thursday which hopefully will show whether I am still preggers or not. I have had no bleeding though so I am trying to stay positive.

I am wondering whether it is worth re-testing a pee stick if a blood test last week had hormone levels at 4000 - that must be proper pregnant right?? I am hoping for heartbeats and proper visuals on screen and no cystsy things in my tubes too... patience is not my strong suit Angry I hope I haven't MMC but am starting to worry I might have.

Sn0wGoose · 23/08/2011 16:29

Tbh I'm not sure I'd POAS FannyAnn, as it may cause you moar worry and you can't bring your scan forward? I'd have a Brew and a Biscuit and try not to worry in the meantime.

MichaelaS · 23/08/2011 21:54

whooooooo meconiumhappens congratulations!!!! so pleased for you!

sn0wgoose oh no, well at least you can have some Wine and get back in the game for next month. good luck and i hope its your turn soon.

FannyAnn oh what a tricky time. Hope the scan gives you good news. Personally I wouldnt POAS because with hormone levels that high last week you would still test positive because it wouldn't be out your system yet, so you're not getting a clear test. best way is scan and if necessary more bloods to see if HCG is increasing or decreasing. good luck xxx
