Hoping to continue the trend of the lucky thread....

OP posts:
DeterminedToGetDiffedDachs · 26/07/2011 19:28

Yay! Just did injection and it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. it didn't really hurt last time i did IVF, but i thought it would hurt more this time as there is less fat on my tummy. I guess there's still enough to absorb the needle though :(

Sad that I can't carry on losing weight now.

tiggersreturn · 26/07/2011 19:41

yes I am on mat leave (didn't want to rub it in here Sad). Rather early because of the house move and trying to avoid them coming too early from too much stress. So still quite a way to go.

Just to add Izzy I did have a friend who got told by one of the heads of the LLL who saw her when she failed with dd2 (no. 1 was an awfully dramatic incarceration in hospital after blood in poo from cracked nipples) that some women just don't have breasts designed to do it and it doesn't matter how much effort you put in. I'm not saying that is the case with you but don't think that it is all down to perseverance and personal failure. Plus if you go looking for advice here the bfeeding board is likely to be very helpful. I think they only get really antsy when someone starts a bf v ff debate.

Also the advantage of the breast shields is they're quite similar to bottle teats so it means you get around the issue of difficulties moving them onto a bottle at a later stage or alternating feeds.

tiggersreturn · 26/07/2011 19:43

Dachs well done on tummy injection. I can't do them at all and I inject 3-4 times a day.

You can still lose weight even while pg...... Vomiting is not the best way to put on weight.

DeterminedToGetDiffedDachs · 26/07/2011 19:50

Unfortunately I don't seem to get morning sickness...

tiggersreturn · 26/07/2011 20:07

Every pg is different (not that I'm wishing constant nausea on you Grin)

AandRMum · 26/07/2011 20:08

Hi All - why do I have a feeling that bf troubles are pretty much the same as mcs - much more common than you are ever led to believe. I was reasonably lucky on the bf side of things (have excessively pointy nips!!) but I ended up going against all advice and used to pull poor DDs lip down to get her into position. I guess you do whatever works really ...

Had a bit of a moment at work today. One of my colleagues told me he had to leave early to support his DD who is having an abortion today - how unfair can life get that she gets pregnant when it is the last thing she can cope with and I can't keep the babies I so desperately want Sad

Sorry for no name checking - feeling a bit low and more work to do.

MissTinaTeaspoon · 26/07/2011 20:36

Good evening Smile

Yay for hb yrmotb GrinGrinGrin

Ouch dachs, sending positive vibes your way!

Thanks for the yummy fruit mummya, sounds like a lovely weekend.

izzy no new symptoms apart from a major skin breakout on my chin and upper chest, mmmm, attractive! Spots are normal pms for me though so I don't think they mean anything!

Waves to AandR and tigger x

Freezingmyarseoff · 26/07/2011 20:55

Evening all

Izzy I had some suggestions for you on the BF front, but everyone has made them already. I think that getting in contact with an NCT or LLL BF expert is a good idea. Trouble is, although everyone is well meaning, it's so easy to end up with far too much conflicting advice. I got different advice from every MW on the post natal ward Confused. TBH I'm very impressed that you are even considering it

YRMOTB Grin for a good 16 week check. So pleased you heard the heartbeat too. I did smile reading about your MW mother helping you out. Shock

Dachs yay for good scan and injection. waves pom-poms at your follicles - may they grow healthy and quickly. Not sure if that is even english but YKWIM

Tigger yay to your maternity leave. Good luck with the moving house though.

AandR sorry that you're feeling low. It's such a kick in the teeth hearing about people who don't want to be pregnant when you do so much. You'll get there I'm sure, but sorry because that's not much help right now. Big squeeze for you.

MummyA your weekend sounds fab. Just what you needed I'm sure. yummy fruit too - ta my lovely

Digi fingers crossed for your BFP this month.

Mouse Hope you have started your holidays now, and can chill out now

Bee Hope the doctors were helpful for both you and your DS

All well here, not so much to report but I'm starting to get a bump Smile although I can still hide it under my clothes. Sickness is also starting to fade too which helps.

Waves to Tina, Zam, Tomboy, Knitter, Jolls, BBB, battery, Loup and anyone I've missed

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 26/07/2011 22:13

Big ((hug)) to aandr - sorry you're feeling low Sad. You're right, life is bloody unfair and there is no logic or justice in the baby lottery - and I'm sure your colleague's daughter would agree Sad. You will get your baby in the end xx

KnitterNotTwitter · 26/07/2011 22:38

hey
quick post to say that today's scan of my bits and bobs went ok.. The scan lady said that it all looked as expected in there so that's good news... Just waiting on the results of all the blood tests now and then we can TTC again :-)

Hugs to everyone

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 26/07/2011 22:39

Great news knitter Smile. Keeping fx for the other results!

Freezingmyarseoff · 26/07/2011 22:45

Glad to hear it went well today knitter

digitalgirl · 27/07/2011 00:05

Good to hear all's looking well in there knitter. When do you get your results?
I'm back to St Mary's next week to get the results of my TEG and repeat APA (clotting tests).

Oh AandR it's so bloody hard isn't it? I've a sneaking suspicion a close work colleague is pregnant - an avid builders tea drinker who's suddenly switched to herbal. And had a last minute gp appt a couple of weeks ago. She knows all about my mc's so I expect she'll leave it till the last minute to say anything.

dachs well done on the injecting. Not looking forward to that bit of it next month - but I'm told it's very easy.

I've been on a low gi/no carbs after 6 diet for three weeks now. Not sure how much weight I've lost but I do feel fitter with all the exercise I've been doing. I have two weddings at the end of August and I'm hoping that if I'm not pg by then I could at least look amazingly non-pg! Then hopefully people will whisper 'wow, digi looks so trim' rather than 'i wonder if digi has managed to get pg again, she looks like she might be? Maybe not, she appears to be mainlining champagne'

Glad all's going well with the preggos. It's so heartwarming to see it working out for so many of you.

Ladybee · 27/07/2011 04:12

Hi all quick one from me on phone before I dive back into unpacking boxes. Dr said all well with my new mole so that's a relief, he's prescribed a course of antibiotics for DS so am hoping we start to see improvement soon. Did an optimistic poas this morning at 11dpo but just a BFN on my Internet cheapie. Had a small cry listening to Amy w's 'Back to Black' when it was played on the radio and then another at another song - not usually one to cry at pop songs so am hoping it's a symptom of something other than AF's imminent arrival and extreme maudlin. Temps are weird, v high when I woke at 4 when DS was coughing but lower at 7:30 after a restless morning with him in the bed (dh is away). Still above cover anyway.
Hey ho, will find out either way in a few days I know, in the meantime I'm going stay positive and optimistic and keep weeing on bits of cardboard (not the packing boxes though, that would be wrong) until they tell me the right thing.

DeterminedToGetDiffedDachs · 27/07/2011 08:52

bee Glad mole OK and that you've got antibiotics for DS - hope he gets better soon.

Loup23 · 27/07/2011 10:26

popping in to see if there's any bfps..... tina what day now? It's painful keeping everything crossed! Ladybee hope bfp coming your way too.

Good luck to dachs with the injections.

Yay for good scan knitter and a bump showing for freezing

Waves to all others out there and hopes this is the month..... CD9 and waiting x

Ladybee · 27/07/2011 11:18

right, boy in bed, DH out getting food - time to catch up on what's going on with everyone else after that very mememe post!

tomboywife did AF show yet?

Dachs well done on that weight-loss. I'm very very lazy when it comes to that sort of thing and have been putting it off with the MCs, somehow it seems like an admission that I won't be pregnant again for a while to commit to starting exercise - you know, always I'll start when AF finishes...when I'm not in the middle of ov-ing...when I"m not on the 2ww. Great advantage to be able to buy lovely clothes and then anticipate not being able to fit them - fingers crossed eh?

MissTina how are the symptoms? Where are you up to now?

Digi I hope you get there with this cycle then, must be a very different scenario to the one you imagined when setting out on this journey. Do you ever stop and wonder how (and why) we got to where we are? I do - most often in the shower. That also being the place where i have most of my imaginary conversations

Izzy no you'll definitely get questions - my childminder back in london had daughters the same ages and recently had her baby. They were vv curious about the whole thing but more the mechanics of baby coming out. I worked on this book link so read it through - it seemed good in helping parents approach the topics naturally.
Amazing isn't it, how many of us experienced difficulties bf-ing. Most of my antenatal group did too and nipple shields helped lots of us. I understand why there there are warnings about them but really, you know what a milk-drunk baby looks like so you'll be able to tell whether they're getting the milk through them ok or not. I found they helped to draw my nipples out (not inverted but flat) and eventually changed their shape permanently. I also found things got much easier after the 6wk growth spurt when his mouth seemed bigger - don't know whether that's right or whether I finally got it. Anyway the thing I took away from it (and from seeing other friends struggle) is also, do what works for you and if that's formula/pumps/shields/mix etc then do it. Good luck m'dear! Oh, I think the medela brand a supposed to be good..

hi tigger lovely to see you!

knitter glad the scan went well, hope the other results come through promptly and give you some answers either way.

Right...back to boxes...

MissTinaTeaspoon · 27/07/2011 13:06

Enjoy the unpacking ladybee, it must be lovely to finally get your own things. Smile I'm glad it went well at the drs.

Well done on the diet digital. Smile I'm meant to eat a lowish fat diet because I've got slightly high cholesterol, I don't eat pastry or meat and bake with low fat spread rather than butter but cheese is my weakness! Despite that though ive still gained weight this year Confused. I'm hoping the school run in September will help a bit (it's about a mile each way).

Good news on the scan knitter, when are the bloods due?

Fx for this month loup

For those of you who asked I'm 10dpo today. No symptoms to speak of that I wouldn't expect at this point in my cycle anyway. I might phone for my blood results later but I can't see them being back yet (funny how at work we can get results within 30 minutes but community bloods take days Hmm)

DeterminedToGetDiffedDachs · 27/07/2011 13:37

bee the weight loss isn't from exercise - it was initially from the fact that i had no appetite after i lost the twins, and now it's just cos my body is used to me taking in less food so I still don't have much of an appetite. It's a REALLY bad way to lose weight, because as soon as I start eating like a horse again I'll put it all back on!

tina Am still dancing around in sparkly suspenders for you.

MissTinaTeaspoon · 27/07/2011 14:52

Progesterone level 42.8 Grin

Everything else normal, although I didn't ask for all the numbers Smile

Should I push for day 2/3 bloods next month do you think or just leave it for now? Anyone know if normal post ov bloods would mean normal fsh and lh?

DeterminedToGetDiffedDachs · 27/07/2011 19:37

tina Yay for good progesterone :) Sorry, can't help on post ov bloods. I just know I have high FSH and low AMH so I'm pretty much buggered when it comes to conceiving naturally! (But that was from day 2 bloods, so I don't know what post ov levels were)

tiggersreturn · 27/07/2011 20:25

Waves back to Freezing, Misstina, A&R and Ladybee and anyone else I've missed.

TomboyWife · 27/07/2011 21:23

Tina I think the ratio of fsh to lh gives a clue about your ovarian reserve, but given your progesterone shows you ovulated, that might be viewed as of less importance. Dunno.

Ladybee hooray for stuff arriving! Good luck with the rest of your unpacking.

Can I hide in the corner when people talk about injecting IVF drugs? I'm normally not squeamish, but the idea of injecting myself with anything just makes me Shock. I'm honestly not sure if I could go through IVF if it came to it for us.

Right, post cut short by impending dinner. Just quickly, still no AF, which is getting (even more) annoying. Sad

Ladybee · 27/07/2011 23:20

Boo! Boo! Spotting Sad damn it, I really wanted this month to work. Arses.

MummyAbroad · 27/07/2011 23:42

oh dear, I am massively behind again. DS has bought home some more germs from nursery school so he is home sick and I've had no MN time...

tina both FSH and AMH can tell you about your ovarian reserve. Comparing the ratio of LH to FSH can tell you if you about PCOS, as having high LH on day 3 (2:1 ratio or greater) is one of the markers - more info about fertility blood tests here If you chart and know that you are ovulating regularly then the day 3 test might not be so useful.

ladyB what are the temps doing? is the fat lady really singing? I hope not Sad

sorry to everyone else, I miss you all and want to catch up but just havent got time at the mo. Much love xxxx
