FB Grin (FertileBrook) HORRAY FOR BFP!!! Grin and that really does sound big and fat too!! Grin I am made up for you! Brilliant due date too, can I be the first to suggest you call it Noel or Carol? ...or at least prepare your answers for the million other people who will suggest the same Grin I am convinced this is the sticky one, I just know it!! I hope the Mentalling doesnt strike too heavy for you xxxx

How are you? Why dont you join us? Smile

Louiseteacher30 · 17/04/2011 21:27

Evening ladies,
Was hoping I could join in with you on this forum? Sounds like a lucky one too, congrats BBB!!! The CB tests are so expensive but its lovely to see it in words isnt it?

I MC on 22nd February this year, first cycle of TCC this month but missed ovulation days as it was abit all over the place! Decided to wait until next month now which gives me time to get back to normal.
Did anyone else have a strange few cycles after their mc?

Louise

getawiggleon · 17/04/2011 22:32

BBB Hurray for the very big, very fat P! 2-3 weeks is great (and I admire your restraint in holding out so long to poas!) Huge congratulations and, like everyone else, I really really hope that this is the one Grin

Louise So sorry for your loss. Pull up a seat, these ladies are lovely. A mc can sometimes throw cycles out a bit, hopefully things will settle down for you next month. Do you chart your temp? It really helped me to understand my cycles after mc.

Diamondsamdrubies · 18/04/2011 00:08

Thanks for the warm welcome MA. Quick summary with what's been happening with me: I miscarried on the 29th March. Bleeding continuously since then. Follow up scan confirmed majority of tissue expelled, but sac retained. Therefore had ERPC on Friday. In a lot of pain so prescribed codeine on Saturday. Lots of pain and general unwellness accompanied by fever led to antibiotics being prescribed on Sunday. So all in all, I don't feel I'm ready to join you ladies just yet. Please keep my place here though. I feel I need the love!
Just one question though: I haven't really bled that much after the operation. Just spotting brown like third or fourth day of period. Is that normal? When do normal periods return? Grateful for all advice. Sorry if I've dampened the mood.
Really pleased with Brooks fantastic news. Keep the BFPs rolling ladies! x

MummyAbroad · 18/04/2011 02:17

Hi Diamonds I did see your news that you miscarried. I am so sorry.Sad Sorry too that you had to endure so many complications aswell. Hope you feel better soon.

When I mc'd I found the PregnancyLoss.info site really helpful, this that I am linking talks a lot about when to expect AF, but there really is so much info on this site, its worth clicking the home button and having a good look through. It answered a lot of questions for me. Feel free to hang around if you want to, there are a few others who are also not TTC at the moment, so you wouldnt be the only one.

Welcome Louise sorry for your loss too. I am afraid I dont know what is "normal" after an mc, because I was unlucky enough to get Ashermans, so my post mc experience was very abnormal. Fingers crossed your cycles are back to normal soon. I second the charting idea, it was very very useful to me too.

waves and an easter egg for everyone on the thread xxx

brokenbarrenbrook · 18/04/2011 08:01

Thanks all for your lovely messages and wishes for a sticky. DH and I are trying our best to remain positive, will try and get in to see my GP tonight but it's proving difficult to get an appointment. I'm hoping she empathises with me and prescribes the Progesterone.

diamonds welcome and sorry to hear about your mc. I had very little blood loss after all my erpcs so to me that's normal. The fever and pain isn't though so glad you got antibiotics for it. As for my name, well, I know I'm not barren after falling pregnant 5 times in the last 2 years, I just have issues making them stick!

Louise welcome to you too. Sorry to hear about your mc, hope you're doing ok. You've come to the right place though Smile. I've always been very lucky and found my cycles settled down straight away so I don't have any advice on what you can do to help regulate them. I'm sure one of the others will be along shortly with some sound advice.

battery anymore symptoms???!!!

jolls thanks for moving me on list, it's scary seeing my name there! Shock

BBB that's fabulous!!! Wooo! I read that when on my iPhone yesterday and had to come up with another excuse when I exclaimed how lovely it was - as I think everyone in RL would think am odd if I explained :)

There have been a few BFPs this weekend, reading other threads too, so all exciting stuff. Yes you need a name change. Hope you get the progesterone and anything else that might help make this one sticky.

Welcome fellow 'other threader' Diamonds and well done for being brave enough to move on to this board :) I did a few weeks ago and although am not ttcing yet I think it's good to do as much research as you can for when you do! Hello Louise, AandR, MAbroad, Digital, Wiggle and everyone else.

Can't help louise re the cycles. I haven't had my af yet after mc that started 19th March (at 12 weeks but had died at 7.5). But I am still passing a bit of brown blood, 4 bloody weeks later! Although scan did reveal there was a bit left to come out so hopefully after that there will be an af and I did get a BFP 18 days ago.

Diamondsamdrubies · 18/04/2011 10:22

MA: thanks for that link- you're a star! That was a lot of useful info. Thankyou.
Brook: really hope you get the progesterone. Relax, I'm really sure all the luck in the world is on your side this time. FX it WILL be a sticky one. We are all 100% behind you here x
Freelance: good idea to be prepared for when we do eventually get round to ttc again. Sorry that you're still spotting, I'm at the same spotting brown stage. Let's hope it passes soon. I'm just a bit scared, from all the Internet "research" about the possibility of tissue still remaining even after ERPC. Most unreasonable, I know- but as this has been quite a drawn out affair for me, it would be just my luck, wouldnt it? I am confident that your clot is being expelled now. Heres hoping our cycles return soon, that would be a good first step! Ttc can wait.
The only drawback to all this is that I can't even indulge in any intoxicating liquor due to the antibiotics. At least drink takes the edge off a little. Apologies for self indulgent post. x

Diamondsamdrubies · 18/04/2011 10:24

Oh and Louise, sorry for your loss. Please take a peak at MAs link. It's very informative. Covers all bases. Take care x

Youremindmeofthebabe · 18/04/2011 11:16

Morning all!

Everyone well? Hope you manage to get your gp appointment bb. I am sure the gp will be accomodating, and there's always the availability of tears to help convince her that it's the right course of actionSmile I am really chuffed for you.

Hello diamonds and louise. Welcome to the thread, but sorry for your losses. Tis evidently a lucky thread thoughWink

louise my cycle took 8/9 weeks to return after my ERPC, although I think that's on the long side of what's classed as normal. I didn't get a neg test til 3 weeks after the ERPC, and so period came back around 5/6 weeks after that. I did have a few patches of brown and red goo at some points over these 8 weeks, but I really knew about it when my period did arrive, it was quite heavy and long, which is unusual for me.

All well over here, FF has drawn my crosshairs and I'm 4 DPO now. Hurrah. Seems like a long time coming this month!

battery hows the symptoms? Are you on FF? Link to here and I can chart stalk. All my other friends on it are updiffed now, nearly. Clearly I am the lucky talismanGrin

Went checking out pubs for the wedding in the Dales last night and meeting up with old friends during the day, it was lush. And I didn't burn, which is a miracle! Hope you're all enjoying today's sunshine, I might take ds out on his bike on the canal soon. Back to work tomorrow, boo, but it's Easter weekend next weekend, and I'm off to see my mum and sister and brother. They live in Newcastle, where I'm from, but I moved here 12 years ago.

mousebacon · 18/04/2011 14:44

Congratulations bbb I hope the gp was supportive.

yrmotb maybe we'll run into each other in Newcastle and won't even know it - hope you have a great weekend with your folks Smile

Welcome to the newbies and sorry for your losses.

Waves to all xx

MummyAbroad · 18/04/2011 15:28

good luck with the GP BBB Have you thought about setting up a private appointment just in case you cant get the progesterone? You can always cancel it if it all works out ok with GP.

Hi mouse have been wondering how you are doing.

diamonds if you are worried about retained tissue, doing a home pregnancy test (or 10!) can be reassuring. Even if it is not negative yet, you should see the line getting thinner so you know HCG is dropping (will rise if there is tissue) Buy a cheap one, if its positive consider getting a multi pack from Amazon (25 for a fiver)

KnitterNotTwitter · 18/04/2011 16:54

hello - I wondered if I might join in here... I feel a bit 'long in the tooth' for the ttc post mc thread but wanted to find some friendly faces to share the forthcoming journey with...

For those of you who don't know me... I'm Knitter... I have a 2y 8mo DS and have been trying to concieve #2 for about 20 months. In that time I've had a (hideously dramatic) ectopic pregnancy, a MMC discovered at 12+6 and then last week we made the dreadful decision to terminate at 13+6 as our little boy bean had Down's Syndrome.

At the moment I'm still grieving for my little boy bean but once the dust has settled on that (and the doctors say I can) DH and I are keen to start TTC again. We're still waiting for the full results to come back from the CVS and as we've had three losses we've been referred to the miscarriage clinic... but for the meantime we'll be getting busy with Knitters patented 3 x a day TTC system :) I know it'll be a long and worrying road ahead but I'm taking comfort from the fact that I must be due some good luck this time round...

Looking forward to getting to know you all better...

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 18/04/2011 17:11

I'm so sorry about all that's happened and obviously I wish you didn't need to ttc again, but it is lovely to see you m'dear. You are definitely due a whole mountain of good luck this time, and I'll be keeping everything crossed for you. When do you get the full cvs results? x

Louise and diamonds welcome and I'm sorry for your losses. Hope you get your bfp soon x

bb how did you get on at the docs?

yrmotb well done on reaching 4dpo - so nice to be able to relax a bit! Fx for this cycle. Your weekend sounds dreadful Envy Grin - when's the big day again?

Youremindmeofthebunny · 18/04/2011 17:17

Aw, hello knitter! Big hugs for you xx

freelancegirl · 18/04/2011 17:19

Hello Knitter. I recognise you... Sorry for what has happened. It sounds a really traumatic experience, especially how the last few weeks have panned out. Glad you can be here though as it is a nice place to chat, lots of people on here so I don't 'know' everyone here, but I find everyone is very supportive. I am not yet ttc either after my mc (probably the third but the first two were about 15 years ago - am probably going to wait tests before ttc but the mc is still recent and ongoing so not ready to leave my mn lifeline yet!).

Funnily enough MummyA and Diamonds, I had a BFN when I still had retained tissue. I guess it wasn't important tissue, if you know what I mean. Actually, I don't really know what I mean by that either! But am hugely guessing that as it was by then old blood and not attached to anything it gave me the bfn. It's annoying on one hand as it means I have no way of telling whether this last bit has gone. Meant to be going back for a scan as soon as af has been and gone. Doesn't seem to be keen to visit just yet!

YRMOFB love the sound of your Dales pub finding mission :)

brokenbarrenbrook · 18/04/2011 17:28

Hello knitter love, nice to see you again. I'm so sorry you had to make that decision, such a brave and heartbreaking thing to have to do, no wonder you are still grieving, it's very early days. I admire you and your DH's strength. Hope you find some comfort here with us, massive hugs. x

So GP's visit wasn't as successful as I had hoped. She won't prescribe until she has a letter / few lines from the Consultant at St Mary's saying that they are OK with her prescribing it.

I understand why, as she said herself she can't just write a prescription as she doesn't know the ins and outs of progesterone or the dosages. I did explain and go armed with all my research but to no avail.

She did say that if St Mary's wouldn't write the letter then she would speak with the head GP at the surgery and see if she can then do it. She's so sweet and I know she wants to help, unfortunately I have a GP that does things by the book Grin

Now I'm hoping St Mary's will agree to her prescribing it to me otherwise I'm just going to have to go with it and hope that number 5 is my turn.

OP posts:
IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 18/04/2011 17:35

bb that's so frustrating. Have you spoken to cons since your bfp? Could you ring St Mary's and give them a bit of a poke to try and get things moving?

MummyAbroad · 18/04/2011 19:39

knitter A very big squishy welcome hug for you! I was hoping you would come over and join us.

Hi bbb sorry if I am pushing something that you are not interested in but a private doctor would prescribe you this in a heartbeat. I know PinkFondantFancy in the Freak Out room got it on prescription privately, as well as several others. Perhaps they can help you find out how? Maybe if you had a prescription from a private doctor with the doses, your GP would then be happy to do follow up prescriptions for the same? I know that the jury is out over whether prog really helps or not, but I am a firm believer in the power of extra care and attention helping out. I am not just talking about the placebo affect, but getting extra monitoring, having people interested in you and trying new things to help. This has been proved to be helpful in many RMC studies, so please dont give up without trying every avenue.

freelance I know someone else who had the same thing too (retained tissue and BFN) and was told that it would come away with her next period and it did. I know my HCG fluctuated when I had retained tissue, I was told that when it attached to the uterine wall it stimulated the body to produce HCG, but when the body realised that it wasnt a real pregnancy (how I dont know) it caused uterine contractions to get the tissue off the walls, but that the tissue could then reattach again, hence rising and falling HCG and on/off bleeding. I believe mouse (I have pregnancy brain today, sorry if I am getting it wrong!) also has/had some blood clots that are expected to come away themselves, but I cant remember if she was testing positive too. I think if you have had a continous BFN for a good while then the tissue is likely to be gone or carried away with your next AF. How long have you been waiting for AF now exactly? Hope its over soon, I remember the agony of waiting all to well. xx

freelancegirl · 18/04/2011 20:46

Hey MA. That's really interesting about the fluctuations of hcg. Actually I only did one test and as it was a bfn left it at that. It was at two scans that they said there was retained tissue, but they did say it seemed to be independent (my words not theirs) but not attached to anything so it was just a case of it working itself out.

Not sure how long I have been waiting for af as I am still spotting brown due to the clot. So maybe I am not waiting at all yet. Started bleeding with the mc 31 days ago and stopped 15 days later when did BFN. But then after scan a few days after that (when they told me there was 2cm to come out) have been spotting ever since. Two weeks after that scan another scan revealed 1.5ish cm to come out and I think it is indeed coming out. My last period before pg was on 26th Dec, not sure if that's relevant!

Very frustrating for BBB, it seems to be a bit of a pattern - being passed around from pillar to post. I hope you get it worked out soon. God knows how anyone without the wherewithal to take charge themselves gets by. Everyone on here seems to be very clued up because we have had to be such!

freelancegirl · 18/04/2011 20:49

PS Did anyone have a swollen tummy after mc? I was 12 weeks and starting to show being that it wasn't my first pg, even though the bean had actually gone at 7.5. My tummy is still really uncomfortable. 9lbs heavier than before pg Angry. I know there are more important things to worry about but it's very annoying.

Diamondsamdrubies · 18/04/2011 20:49

So so Sorry for your losses knitter. Hope you get your lucky healthy BFP soon. Stay strong. Lots of gentle hugs.
Thanks for your warm welcome girls.
MA: I had a -ve HPT a few days before the second scan- which showed retained sac...what's that all about?
Oh well, onwards and upwards...

Diamondsamdrubies · 18/04/2011 20:52

Freelance: please don't worry. I'm sure everything will go back to normal by the time AF arrives. My tummy is very tender at the moment, if it's any consolation. Lots of hugs Hun x

freelancegirl · 18/04/2011 21:03

LOL Diamonds is used to me moaning about my weight over on the mc board :) ok ok, I will shut up and wait till I get my period. I could be due on of course and therefore bloated.

batteryhen · 18/04/2011 21:13

Hello all,

Just popping in to say hi, am just in from London for the day and am knackered :)

A big hello to new people and a big old squish for knitter

I will post this linky to my chart for all you stalkers :) I am hoping the dip is an implantation dip but I think that is wishful thinking! Also I have been feeling very very sick today but that might be the junk food and the dungeons with all the gory stories!

Will do a big catch up in a few days, big wave to all xxxx
