2 MISCARRIAGES AT 42yrs!!!!!!!!!!

jeddah · 18/10/2005 18:56

I don't know if people remember me but I am JEDDAH and after TTC for nearly 2 years now I have just had 2 miscarriages, 1 in July at 6wks and 1 yesterday at 5.5wks.

I am in total shock that it happened twice .....I was almost relieved to have the 1st one as I know it is so common and I had got it out of the way!...but to have a seond miscarriage 3 months later....

Has anyone ever had this and then successfully got pregnant, I just need to hear something positive to spur me on.

((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))

I know your probably wondering if there's a god (I've done it for u over the past day as well), and there honestly is nothing I can say to make u feel any better - as u know u'll have good days you'll have bad days, but remeber that there's always hope and a little ray of sunshine.

as always i'll keep hoping and praying for you both, and honestly hope things improve from here. (((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))

jeddah · 18/10/2005 19:20

Thanks Debbs are you an old duffer like me?? or are you a young chick??

How many weeks did you miscarry at, if you dont mind me asking?

OP posts:
munz · 18/10/2005 20:03

gonna keep bumping up for u honney if u don't mind - I think there's a fair few 'old duffers' on the ttc after m/c thread - those girls are all v supportive of each other - there even a few who arn't trying if you want to wander over.

SirFurmum · 18/10/2005 20:08

Hi Jeddah. So sorry to hear this is happening. I started trying to conceive at 40, had 2 mcs at 9 weeks and 5 weeks. After the 2nd one I got pg again almost immediately. Thought I was losing the 3rd one too, but I didn't and went on to have dd. Hang on in there.

spidermama · 18/10/2005 20:10

My friend, who's 40, had three miscarriages in a row (two of them within a year of each other) then got pg again and has a little girl.

Sorry for your losses and good luck.

spidermama · 18/10/2005 20:11

Two of my six pregnancies miscarried btw.

Nemo666 · 18/10/2005 20:14

hi hun ((((((((hugs))))))))) I dont have the age thing which I know is something you are concerned about, however I had 2 early mcs 6 wks and 7wks before getting pg with my son who is now 2. I then had a missed mc last dec but am currently 7tmh pregnant. So the mcs can happen in a row so to speak but it doesnt mean you wont get pg and carry to term. At least you know you are able to concieve, may be worth speaking to gp about ways to maintain pregnancy if at all possible?

hewlettsdaughter · 18/10/2005 20:15

jeddah - sorry to hear about your miscarriages

I was pregnant 3 times in 5 months in 2004. The first two pregnancies ended with early miscarriages at around 4.5/5 weeks. The third one resulted in my dd...

KristinaM · 18/10/2005 20:16

Sorry to hear about your MC Jeddah. I had an early MC ( 6 weeks) when i was 41, then got preg again right away. Had baby just after i was 42. Got preg again when baby was 9 months old just before my 43rd birthday. That baby's due in a few weeks - everything fine so far.

Hope you find this encouraging - there are lots of other old up the duffers here who got pregnant quickly & it worked out ok - hope it happens for you too soon

peepee · 18/10/2005 20:37

JEDDAH,
There are lodsa people out there older than you that have had pregnancies.
Try not to worry too much. A close freind of mine at 42 opted for IVF as she had been told her eggs were old and that's why she could not conceive. She had the IVF and a baby girl. Not long after she had a m/c but then conceived again (without IVF)and is gonna have another girl.
There is hope for all of us. I have just had a 5th m/c and am still positive that one day I will hold my own baby.

jeddah · 18/10/2005 22:17

thanks everyone I realise that I am luckier than others... so sorry peepee!

Just feeling low and needed a bit of a hand to get back up....feeling a little better after reading these mails

Thanks again girls!

Hi Jeddah and welcome back - I was meaning to E-Mail you but I have recently lost all the contents of my hard drive !!! Did you manage to conceive naturally ?? I have just had a little girl Caitlyn - now 15 days old. One of my friends had a little girl at 45 - she had four miscarriages in the two years lead up to this. Hoping you will stay for a bit. Take care !

munz · 19/10/2005 14:07

bumpx

jeddah · 19/10/2005 18:43

oh my god marinda so pleased for the birth of your beautiful daughter!!!

Yes I did concieve naturally, chose to ignore all the drs and put my DH on suppliments whuch increased his results 5 fold!!!!!!! and we ditched the IVF

Sadly I have had the 2 miscarriages... the 1st.....was acceptable although very upset... but the second has gutted me! feel like there is something wrong with me!

I am so pleased for you though!

OP posts:
marinda · 19/10/2005 20:20

Whatever you do, don't give up - at least you know you CAN conceive ! The miscarriages must be tough though - but it does seem as an older woman this is what happens - I was half expecting it to happen to me ! I asked my midwife the age of the oldest woman whose birth she attended- she said it was 47 - and apparently a natural conception !! Hope it works for you !! Thinking of you !! I shall get back to my sleepless nights and feeding ! BTW have you heard from Hester ? - apparently she went in to labour on Monday

PeachyClairPumpkinPie · 19/10/2005 20:52

Can I just tell you that my Mum had 5 miscarriages / still births (at 26 weeks), then a forced termination through Rubella, then went on to have three healthy girls (I am the oldest) with no complications whatsoever. It DOES happen, OK?

I am sorry for your loss. It must be hard.

jeddah · 19/10/2005 22:34

peachy thanks for your kind words I am bloody determined!!!!!

Marinda.... waiting to heat form Hester......although I know there is movement in the camp!
Hope all goes well for her!

oaktree · 20/10/2005 08:06

just to say jeddah don't give up. I'm in the same boat having has 2 mc in the last year at 40. am determined to keep going . Hvaing spent (wasted?!) tons on variuos alternative things that I don't feel helped at all I'm now in the mind set that what will be will be....... and that it WILL happen. keep your chin up. lots of love xxx

hewlettsdaughter · 20/10/2005 08:56

jeddah, I know what you mean about coping with the first m/c, but feeling really gutted about the second. I hadn't even known that I was pregnant for long, but it just seemed such a blow that it was happening all over again.

Glad to hear you are feeling determined - good luck!

jeddah · 22/10/2005 00:15

Oaktree and hewlewttsdaughter...you have both had 2 miscarriages????

Feel like I need to know more of you guys and your predicaments???? if this is ok??

What are your stats???

when did you both miscarry?

OP posts:
mymama · 22/10/2005 00:42

jeddah a good friend of mine ttc for 18 months then suffered two miscarriages in 8 months. She now has two lovely boys. She had a d&c??? with 2nd miscarriage and then conceived again quite quickly with her first son. She was 36 at that time. Remember it being heartbreaking for her but a positive ending.
