So sorry AC :( things suck sometimes. I'm sure it'll open up another opportunity for you though - this probably won't make you feel better now but things always come up and you might find a job that's better for you soon. In the meantime, chocolate and wine are probably in order!

Glad you got your pipes sorted bebe - a friend tried defrosting the one to her boiler but it was too high up so she was using a supersoaker water pistol and boiling water as it was about 15 feet up the side of the house... or so she thought. Turned out it was at waist height and she could have done it easily Xmas Smile

Am in a bit of a dilemma... AF due on 30th, I had EWCM so think I ovulated (as only 1st cycle of TTC am not testing for ovulation yet), have zip pregnancy symptoms. Do I have the stilton and champagne at Christmas as am probably not pg or do I not, just in case? Is it possible to be pg and have absolutely no symptoms?! Any words of wisdom greatly appreciated...

AmandaCooper · 23/12/2010 20:07

Oh dear I hate this dilemma, I really have no idea what the answer is! I mean I know what I think, which is go ahead in moderation, but I am well aware that if I was in your place I might not think that! Some people stop drinking and change their diet from long before they start ttc, but if you decide to take a slightly more relaxed approach you'll be in good company and as long as you observe the rda, I don't think you should worry.

AmandaCooper · 23/12/2010 20:09

Nannyl didn't you say you had had a bit of a bug? Might that have knocked your cycle off balance slightly?

squirrel007 · 23/12/2010 20:34

Hi all! Today I finished work for the holidays, and am now totally exhausted and definitely ready for a holiday :) Am also feeling very tired and grumpy and guilty for snapping at DH earlier (who calmly ignored me and made me dinner Blush ). Although I seem to be getting over the nausea stage, I'm finding the tiredness hard to deal with as I'm used to being active and getting stuff done.

mrssatsuma I personally think that alcohol and banned foods are ok until you know for sure you're pg. I wouldn't overdo it, but I wouldn't deprive myself either. I know that some people are more cautious than me though and it's a personal decision. I'll probably have a small glass of champagne at xmas even though I'm pg.

bebe if it wasn't for all the snow and ice on the roads I'd be straight over to yours to eat all of your yummy xmas treats! Your food always makes my mouth water :)

nannyl sorry to hear about the iced up pipes, but exciting about ov and ttc Grin

wyorks I saw my mum and sister just after my positive test, and couldn't keep quiet about it. How lovely that you'll tell your family on xmas day :) My friends also guessed when I took ginger beer (non-alcoholic) to a party, but I stuck with the excuse of just not feeling well. Not sure if they bought it or not!

100years glad things are looking up for you at work :)

Hi to everyone else!

MrsSatsuma · 23/12/2010 22:42

Thanks, I might have a small glass... can't do too much anyway as I may be on painkillers for my back all Christmas anyway!

Am signing off and wishing everyone a merry Christmas... Think it might arouse suspicion if I post on here while at my mum's! [waves and hands out mince pies] Have a lovely christmas everyone! Xmas Smile

strawberrypie · 23/12/2010 23:20

Bit of an update girls.....have decided to start SWI today! I am only on CD 7 but it felt really strange not using contraception for the first time EVER!

I'm going to a party straight from work tomorrow then to family then going skiing early boxing day morning (never been before- will prob spend most of week on bum) so wishing you all a very merry Christmas and see you when I get back!

Ps Thank you for the lovely comment bebe x

bebeinamanger · 24/12/2010 08:27

Strawberry - Eeeeeek! How exciting! Have a very Happy Christmas!! Xmas Wink

Mrs Satsuma - Have a nice Christmas at your mums! :) (I'd say a small glass of fizz won't hurt!)

Squirrel - You can't help being grumpy & snappy! It's the blasted hormones!
I am massively short tempered & irritable at the moment which probably means AF is going to be an unwelcome guest over Christmas!

Well....I made it! 3 months medication free!! That's the first hurdle! I'm hoping that the fact I'm still ok (MS wise) will help me in my new quest to finally convince DH to TTC! I estimate I have about 2.5-3 weeks til OV! Xmas Confused Please all keep fingers crossed for me! I'm hoping that some festive spirit(s) Xmas Wink might help persaude him! Just need DD to be a good girl (she's been very naughty the last couple of days) don't want her adding fuel to his argument!

Will try & pop back now & then, but if I don't manage it....Happy Christmas to everyone! Xmas Grin

nannyl · 24/12/2010 08:35

Merry Christmas eve everyone.

Am pleased to report that our pipes have finally unfrozen Smile
Also my temp has risen today... by risen i mean rocketed... a record high jump ever.

AC yes i did have a cold (but marked those temps as disturbed, they were quite high but id been disturbed by cold anyway so didnt count them) Have been mainly better for a week so expected temp to rise.
Anyway it has risen now Smile

One of my best friends told me shes pg yesturday... she literally found out yesturday (and otehr than DH im the only person to know) (3 days early) and will have a due date of 4 Sep. Really hope we can be pg twins. I have another good friend also on her 2WW, just a bit ahead of my in her cycle.

strawberry pie have fun SWI.... I agree it felt odd.. the 1st time in MY LIFE id been trying to make (instead of trying not to make a baby!)

mrssatsum have a little cheese and wine if you want it (says she who has abstained from anything banned since November, but then im wierd lol)

nannyl · 24/12/2010 08:38

bebe we crossed posted

congrats on being 3 months mediciation free...
not long til you can SWI either Smile

AmandaCooper · 24/12/2010 09:02

Squirrel sorry to hear you're feeling a but run down. Good that the nausea has passed though. Can't believe how this thread has moved on with everyone either pg or ttc. It certainly gives me hope!

On that note, Bebe congratulations on your amazing milestone. I can remember when we were discussing what you should do before you started on the meds. Now you've come out the other end! So much time waiting! I reckon we've waited long enough now.

Nannyl that's exciting news from your friend. I hope you soon join her!

Strawberry congratulations on graduating. Next year is going to be quite a year for this thread!

AmandaCooper · 24/12/2010 15:20

Nobody about? It's so quiet on here!

nannyl · 24/12/2010 15:41

the stuff in freezer is out!
MIL visited

Just got to prep the veg and stuff before midnight mass

will need to be up at 8 to get set for Xmas prep!

100years · 24/12/2010 15:54

bebe it may only be this month we are cycle twins as my cycles vary from month to month anything from 30 to 35 days on average. But it would be cool if it worked out that way. Hope you get your DH convinced. And I'm really pleased you are 3 months free with no real problems, doesn't seem that long.

nanny enjoy your time with your friends and sorry to hear about your pipes.

WYorks Glad no-one has said anything since the party, and I bet they will be mega chuffed when they find out. Are you having any symptoms etc?

Mrs Satsuma I'm due about the same time as you, so I too am in the do I don't I pickle, however I don't like stilton or champagne, but I may have some beer, I'm sure that's full of goodness!!

AC how are you doing?

squirrel thanks. glad the nausea is passing, hopefully your DH will know it's the homonals

strawberry Yay - Good luck. Skiing is fab. My OH doesn't ever fancy it, so I'm not sure I'll go again

I'm doing pretty well at ignoring the sore boobs, slight nausea (of which I took an anti sickness tab yesterday) and the wind, it's ALL normal for me it is it is it is it is it is. I will not test tomorrow as that would be too too early????.. It's all normal - repeat after me - it's all normal for me. My body is playing tricks on me. Making me think there is a small chance.

Anyway, Happy Christmas everyone. I didn't have my leave cancelled so I'm home and chilling out. done some baking for OH's parents present and watched the end of miracle on 32nd street. Curry later :) The sleep and Christmas day.

FancyALittle · 24/12/2010 17:02

First of all thank you all for the welcome! I've clearly not checked back quickly enough as this thread has woooooshed on! Sorry if I don't reply to everyone Xmas Smile

I must say I'm a bit freaked out to find out someone in this thread lives in the same place as me - eep!

It's Christmas Eve and I am feeling TOTALLY Christmassy. Everything is ready to go, I've highlighted everything I want to watch on telly in the Radio Times and I'm positively gasping to taste all the lovely wine we've bought for the festive season (making the most of it, I'd love to be pregnant next year!).

nannyl Thanks for the welcome, have indeed read the Lance Armstrong books (probably too soon, it was all very tearful) but yes, we're both extremely lucky that it's all under control. You're definitely ahead of me if you're actively trying, I think I may be in the holding pen for many more months to come!

jinglebellssatnasmells It does seem to be a lucky thread - hopefully not quite yet for me! DH is a bit confusing, I think if I just stopped taking the pill he'd be happy with the outcome. However, we've got goals we want to achieve first or, at the very least, his job to settle down. How far along are you?

bebe Well it happened a few weeks before we got married - was touch and go, but he was determined to get married! Was a very emotional day to say the least, but also EXTREMELY joyous. Am so happy to be a wife this Christmas, and long may that continue. Well done on the Sainsbury's vouchers, what great timing.

strawberrypie I totally sympathis with the dilemma of the DH's job settling down - it's a pain, isn't it? Glad your cycle has settled down, when I came off the implant last year it took months for me to get back to normal and I couldn't stop fretting about it.

AmandaCooper Bummer, gutted for you (I have read the thread and how long the process has been).

WYorksLass How exciting! And honeymoon... lovely!

JSFN Great idea! I feel very up to speed with your situation now. Just started a new job myself and it's so tricky finding out all the ins and outs of maternity pay without 'letting on'.

WhyWait Good luck with the PGCE interview. All this career and study stuff really does seem to throw a spanner in the works. I also feel glad I have MN now, as I don't really want to talk about this to anyone in RL. When a friend told me she was trying, I felt like I was always wondering what was going on... information being withheld etc (for good reason!) so I like having a place to be honest!

squirrel007 Congratulations! I suppose that makes you a 'graduate' now?

100years Oooo another person out of the holding pen! Wishing you the best of luck. Again, jobs disturbing things! Grrr!

bebeinamanger · 24/12/2010 18:57

Just took DD to the crib service at Church, was really sweet but she was a bit of a handful! Hmm Over excited!! Was going to go to Midnight Mass, but when I left church at 5.45 it was already -9! It is really really icy outside! The joys of living somewhere rural!! :o

Just had a massive plate of cheese (brie & stilton) & crackers! Decided to ignore the diet & enjoy things that I might not be able to have if I'm PG next Christmas!

100 - stop sympton spotting you will drive yourself mad!

AmandaCooper · 24/12/2010 19:17

Ooh it has only just occurred to me [dense emoticon] that we're going to have the first ever birth on the thread next year! How amazing. Will we still be going when the DC are all graduating and leaving home?

jinglebellssantasmells · 24/12/2010 20:31

Wow AC that is a shocking thought, i cant believe i am almost half way thru this pg already

well i have just been to my mums for some picky bits and a catch up and my DD met my step sisters 2 week old baby, she was realy interested in her and was trying to give her a bottle and put her hat on, she gave me her dolly to have as a substitute lol, she was really well behaved the whole time, and was showing off dancing to everyone was really sweet to watch :) cant believe how big she is seems like yest she was newborn, came home just afta 7 as it was her bed time and now she is thankfully fast asleep

ham is roasting in the oven and i have a glass of pretend non alcoholic wine lol, then going to munch on sum chocs and crisps

bebe- i cant wait till i can take DD to church and she will sit and listen, enjoy your cheese and crackers :)

100- that is wot i am planning to watch tonite

well i best go, i really hope all u lovely ladies have a fab xmas, and get spoilt rotten :)

cheers {fgrin] x

jinglebellssantasmells · 24/12/2010 20:32

oops Xmas Grin lol

bebeinamanger · 24/12/2010 21:49

Jbells - DD didn't really 'listen' Hmm but I suppose she wasn't that bad consdering she was over excited! Wow, on being nearly half way through your PG!!

AC - Exciting to think there will be a baby on this thread soon!

Anyone else watching OBEM Xmas special (I'm recording it! :))

Probably won't get a chance to pop on 2moro. So, Happy Christmas to all! Xmas Grin

AmandaCooper · 24/12/2010 21:52

I saw the second half of it, where there were no women in labour at all(!) but missed the first! It's going to be on 4OD soon, so hopefully I'll get to see it - though I'm not sure when as we're about to leave for my mum's.

Merry Christmas, Bebe and Jinglebells and everyone xxx

100years · 24/12/2010 22:27

Aargh. I have pins in my boobs. My oh just said they look engorged like I'm lactating or something, I've never done that so a weird thing to say!!!! Lol. They however don't apparently feel any different, sorry for tmi

I'm other odd news. It was 20 years ago on Christmas day that I got my first ever period!

AmandaCooper · 25/12/2010 08:14

Lol @ 100years you must be desperate to test! Did you think you'd be symptom spotting like this when you started ttc? It does sound promising though - and this is the lucky train!

nannyl · 25/12/2010 08:48

Merry Christmas to all passengers on the train Smile

AmandaCooper · 25/12/2010 09:43

how was midnight mass?

100years · 25/12/2010 10:20

Morning everyone.

Hope you all have a fab day. :)

Just been out to help at a local race. It's blinking freezing out there, even with thermals on, although my top half was not too cold.

And I couldn't wait to test....

And I got 2 lines.....

All beit one of them is fainter than the other, there are 2 lines. Merry Christmas baby :)

Was in bed last night and my stomach felt all sparkly, weird but it's the only word to describe it, and I couldn't not test when I woke this morning, kept thinking if I find out in a few days that I am then I would have loved to have known on Christmas day! Shocked but over the moon. I know it's mega mega early as only on CD26 but as of this morning I am upduffed. I now have to hope that it sticks in there and nothing happens. So keep your fingers crossed that it's all nice and sticky, and I'm sticking to pineapple juice today. :)
