Beep Beep

The August Bus departs tomorrow....

Come and join me if you are TTC an August baby [hgrin]

This is my first bus and I think I am being brave in starting the engine.

Typo galore- supposed to say: CAN'T really put it all together as quite LONG duration of symptoms

Morning everyone joining the August bus. Fingers crossed for sticky BFPs this month.

Have had weirdest AF this month - am normally very regular (28 day cycle) and (sorry TMI) very heavy, but since I had my coil out in August have had late periods. This months only lasted 3 days - and am sure I ovulated as I had the pain at the right time. I am also still feeling queasy and although I know am not pg (BFN plus AF) did check with the nurse - apparently folic acid can make you feel queasy (Confused - new one on me) and I may also have low grade heart burn - which can do the queasy/funny taste in mouth. So much for my phantom symptom spotting!

Morning all! kat2504 I giggled at the idea that your iphone app emails you to let you know if your period is late - like any of us on this bus would need an email to alert us to that fact, more likely we'd be peeing on all the sticks we could get our hands on!!!

CD6 here and DH is away (again!) but he's working in UK next week so I'm trying to psych my body up to do its stuff then!! Grapefruit shopping trip is in order this eve me thinks :)

KLou111 · 09/11/2010 10:51

Spirita I asked hubby the same thing re testing and he just wants to know when I've got a BFP as he doesn't want to go through the excitement to be let down if BFN (I just do that bit on my own :( )
The tests are that cheap, he's not that fussed if I use a lot. Approx £4 delivered for 25 is a bargain!! Think I have 16 left lol. Only on cycle 3!!

passthechocs Folic acid queasiness new to me too.

passthechocs · 09/11/2010 11:06

KLou am with you there on wee sticks. Have found a 99p per stick supply (so not as cheap as amazon) which does tempt excess POAS. My excuse is that AF keeps being late and its OK to test daily from due date Grin

My dp not really interested in testing either- he was a bit Confused when I told him had tested when AF 1 day late!! What did he expect? That I would sit there and wait for AF?

Have just checked dates on the MN ovulation calender - not tried fertility friend - and need to SWI most of next week. Should be interesting as am away for work 2 days and MIL here for 2 days lol!

mrsden · 09/11/2010 11:21

I can confirm that I don't like grapefruit juice. It's disgusting. I could only manage a small glass so I hope that's enough to have each day. I will report back if I notice it working!

ddas · 09/11/2010 11:53

I can testify to folic acid making u queasy unfortunately. Last month started to take prenatal tablets and within a couple of days felt queasy. Didn't click to start with the connection esp as folic acid is an essential vitamin we always have in our bodies abeit at a lower amount than in vitamins tablets; even though we weren't actively ttc started to think might be pregnant and it got bad enough that was making it diff at work. GP did some bloods and no cause found. When tried to think of any recent changes the only thing was the prenatal vitamins. Gave myself a break from them and nausea subsided. Back on them now and seems that body now getting used to the added amount around.

mrsden · 09/11/2010 12:06

I have heard that the prenatal vitamins can make some people feel sick. I make sure I take them straight after my evening meal because I think you're less likely to feel ill if you take them on a full stomach.

I have been taking the Pregnacare ones but they are so expensive and although I know folic acid is essential I'm not sure whether all the other stuff they include is really necessary if you have a balanced diet. They have levels of vitamins so much higher than the recommended daily dose. I would be really interested to see if there is any research which says that they do help conception. I bought a pack of just folic acid at the weekend and they are very cheap (also has RDA of Vit B6 & Vit B12) so I might alternate these with the pregnacare ones.

KLou111 · 09/11/2010 12:54

Got my Folic from healthspan. Were about £4.85 for 360 tabs. You're meant to take them with food, I read it on the back of the box when I started taking them. Maybe to stop you feeling queasy :)

buttonmoon78 · 09/11/2010 12:55

Hi all!

Been swi a lot but DH now away until Thursday so I think that's my lot for this cycle!

Unfortunately, as I don't think I've OV'd just yet, I also think it'll be a longer 2ww than normal Sad

GetDownYouWillFall · 09/11/2010 13:03

I think you are supposed to take them with food so they get absorbed properly by your gut.... may help reduce nausea too I guess.,

HELP me I am getting so bored of WAITING. CD14 for me. Normally ov around now, but am in my post-MC cycle and there are absolutely NO signs of ov approaching Sad

There is so much waiting waiting waiting in this TTC game.

buttonmoon78 · 09/11/2010 13:14

Oh, I feel for you GetDown. When I mc in the dim and distant past, it was 2 or 3 cycles before I got pg again. I know that's not what you want to hear but I really think your body will do it when it's ready.

On the plus side, that was between 1 and 2. Now got 3 and trying for 4 so turned out patience was necessary.

I was further along than you though so maybe my body just took longer to normalise my hormones.

Keep going with the SWI - it will happen again.

GetDownYouWillFall · 09/11/2010 13:25

thanks buttonmoon78 sorry to hear you went through it too, but great you have 3 lovely DCs now Smile - trying for number 4? WOW! I am in awe! I think 2 will be my limit, but who knows?

I am sad at the thought that it might not happen this cycle or for several more cycles to come .... but you're right, we just have to be patient.... good things come to those who wait, and all that.

Mine was early (5 weeks) so hoping that it will be quick to normalist again. Temps were in a kind of "medium zone" for a week or so after the bleeding stopped, and now they are back to "low" so perhaps it will be a normal cycle plus an extra week or so.

Good luck to all x

kat2504 · 09/11/2010 19:19

mrsden I don't like the stuff at all either. It is all sour and not nice! First week of drinking it here, it had better work!I am taking Asda pregnancy multivits which are much much cheaper than pregnacare and include all the folic acid and other B-vits that you need.

klou isn't it nice for the men to only have the fun bits eh? Their contribution is some nice fun SWI and then the excitement of a BFP. Whereas we also get the cervix checking, mucus analysing, sympton spotting, opk testing, grapefruit juice drinking, bfn crying, horrible period aspect to TTC aswell!

I'm back! was only a short trip on the July bus for me Grin
