DH and I have been TTC for 9 months. I've gotten used to the monthly ritual of testing and getting a resounding negative, only for AF to show up the following day. AF was due yesterday so I did an internet cheapy test this morning, more to goad AF than anything else.

Faint line.

Promptly had coronary and thought 'must be a mistake, line is v faint, I can't be pregnant, I'll buy a fancy test today and see what that says before I get excited'. Not really had any symptoms other than the usual PMS type things - sore boobs, overly emotional and so on. (I have had the odd nauseous moment, but have been rationalising that in the usual way - not eaten enough, eaten too much, tired, too hot etc etc). Not mentioned anything to DH yet.

Fancy test is currently sitting in my handbag, waiting for me to pee on it. I can't bring myself to do it while at work, but can't concentrate on anything else.

Not sure what I'm looking for really, other than to offload. Does it matter if the line is faint? Does that mean the result is doubtful, or what?

Am bursting on a wee as well.

A line is a line - congratulations!!!!! Oh go and do other test!!!

Wheelybug · 12/10/2010 12:11

I did an internet cheapy test the day my period was due and it had such a faint line (i.e. I had to hold it up to the light) I thought I was imagining it as we had been ttc for 2 years.

But, I had a nagging feeling and did a FR the next day - couldn't have been bolder or come up more quickly. My faint line is 19 months Grin.

Good luck !

LadyGoneGaga · 12/10/2010 12:13

What she said. I got a really, really faint line at 14dpo when last pg with an internet cheapy (meant to be 10mi sensitive!)so went and did a First Response and was really clear.

Hope you get a massive BFP!

LionScare · 12/10/2010 12:16

You is up the duff. Congrats!!!

SerenaJoy · 12/10/2010 12:17

Oh gawd. Was expecting lots of 'don't get your hopes up'. Nausea really kicking in now... Smile

Might sneak off for a private moment with my fancy test at lunchtime.

I'd say congratulations, you're expecting! Grin

Tests are 99% accurate on day AF due, and false +ves are extremely rare (unless you are menopausal). False negatives are much more likely. When a positive is followed by a negative, it's normally indicative of a chemical pregnancy.

But just to put your mind at rest - go and PO that S and make sure you let us know what it says! Smile

WickedWitchSouthWest · 12/10/2010 12:20

A line is a line!

Congratulations!

Funnily enough this time last year I was lying on the sofa bemoaning the fact I had a tummy bug...that tummy bug is now 15 weeks old and fast asleep upstairs Grin

SerenaJoy · 12/10/2010 12:23

Sis just had a baby on Sunday - first grandchild. Think my mum might spontaneously combust if I tell her I'm up the duff now. Grin

Good lord. I feel a bit peculiar.
