Oh and sorry for BFN Brasso. What are your cycles normally like, if you don't mind me asking? I came off the pill in Feb (though only ttc since July). It took 6 weeks to have a first period after the withdrawal bleed then seemed to be 29-33 days, but with mid cycle bleeding which lasted a day or 2 and I assumed was ovulation. Perhaps I should have had that checked out at the time. Anyway last month was 34 days but with no ovulation as far as temps could tell, and this month, well, like you I'm on CD42.

GetDownYouWillFall · 05/11/2010 17:48

Eskarina if it's any comfort, it took my body ages to sort itself out after coming off the pill. It took 3 months to get a period and probably nearly a year to get my cycle back to how it was before I took the pill.

TBH I would never go back on the pill again.

I had cycles that where 45, 46 days upwards. Got pregnant with DD through ov. on a CD 32.

So just wanted to comfort you that it's not necessarily because anything's "wrong", may just be taking your body time to sort itself out after the pill.

HTH

Thanks Getdown (nice to see you popping back on) It's good to know that others have had similar experiences, even though I wouldn't wish it on anyone IYSWIM. I sort of assumed that because I'd settled down into a sort-of pattern that it might stick around. And to be honest I'm worried that it will all get like it was when I was a teenager.
Periods were very irregular and so heavy and painful that I would have to have time off school/college as I would faint and throw up, and be unable to move for the pain. I went on the pill at 18 when I didn't have one for about 10 weeks and was really ill - right before my A levels. So I've stayed on the pill for 10 years because it was convenient to have nice regulated periods and of course was handy when DH and I got married and needed to start thinking about that sort of thing! No-one ever said there were any problems with using it long-term, even though I've asked every time I've had a pill check up. Angry

Hi Eskarina (just popped back) I was on the pill for 13 years straight before I came off to start TTC. I was really scared that my periods wouldn't come as, like you, mine used to be really heavy and irregular before the pill.

I am sure it is just your body getting used to not being told what to do ie the pill. Everyone it seems has a different reaction to coming off the pill. I've read on other websites that some woman had a regular period when they came off the pill, then not one for 6 months!! Fingers crossed that's not going to happen to us though!

Good luck at the Docs though, I hope everything is OK.

Just tidying list up following all the AF's. We might be moving to a minibus soon Sad.

emsiedoodle · 05/11/2010 20:33

I really don't know whats going on with me at the moment. Day 35 of my cycle is nearly over and still no sign of AF or a positive result. This will now become the longest cycle i've ever had. I really thought I was in with a chance as mega sore boobs today too, should I test again tomorrow or wait few day and see what happens?
Good luck to all those waiting to test x

gettingonmyownnerves · 05/11/2010 20:46

Thanks for all the good wishes and huge congratulations to cyberjules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really sorry to see all the AFs, BFNs and crappy cycles Sad.
emmsie I guess as long as AF hasn't arrived a BFP is still possible, maybe re-test in a few days?
Good luck to everyone waiting to test!

Eskarina · 05/11/2010 21:19

emsiedoodle sorry about your cycle going wonky. It must be something in the water this month as Brasso and I seem to be competing for the longest cycle too - we're both on CD42. Having said that I would say that you're in with a good chance, esp with the sore boobs, so re-test in a few days. How soon depends on how rich you want to make the pee-stick manufacturors! If you know when you ovulated then wait until you are definitely at least 14dpo until you try again
Good luck Smile

queenrollo · 05/11/2010 21:29

i've gone all spotty today, which i think is a sign that AF will arrive in the next few days.

Eskarina · 06/11/2010 08:54

So, I POAexpensiveS today (one of the clearblue non-digi's I bought by mistake. BFN of course. I don't know why I thought an expensive one would make a difference, as surely at 17dpo then the difference between the cheap and expensive tests will have beeb eroded anyway.

Is it bad that I've been googling clearblue fertility monitors? And PCOS? And wondering if it's really really manky to have a 2nd hand CBFM from ebay? I can just hear DH now telling me that spending more money isn't going to help, and that no fancy piece of kit is going to make my period appear. Even CLearblue haven't worked that one out yet!

GetDownYouWillFall · 06/11/2010 09:22

I don't think there's anything wrong with getting a second hand CMFM?

17DPO and no AF and no BFP - Sad and Angry for you

GetDownYouWillFall · 06/11/2010 09:23

I mean CBFM

Eskarina · 06/11/2010 15:05

Woohoo! AF has arrived! (now you don't hear that on a bus very often!) Hurrah Hurrah Hurrah! Not even feeling too bad - normally a late period would be agony but I've been out and about thismorning and hardly noticed it. Now I feel silly for telling my mum about my odd cycles this morning. I wanted to know what she remembered from when I was a teenager and very ill with it all. I played down the TTC bit but I'm sure she can put 2 and 2 together. How does one text one's mother to tell her one's period has arrived? Blush

Now, if you have to start using a CBFM from CD1 then do I have to wait a whole extra cycle before getting one? Think I'll buy one from ebay anyway.

Fingers crossed for everyone else on the bus, Brasso I hope you work out what's going on soon too. I don't know whether to jump on the August bus or to wait for September to drive along - a normal cycle would be august, another 6-weeker would be Sept. I think I'll join August as I quite fancy a summer baby Grin

GetDownYouWillFall · 06/11/2010 15:16

Great news Eskarina - does it tie in with when you thought you ov'd?

Eskarina · 06/11/2010 16:15

No, but it does fit with when FF thinks I ovulated, esp if I have a long luteal phase. I do have some weird symptoms that apparently don't relate to ovulation though - bleeding, cramping, and shooting pains in alternating sides. It must be some kind of pre-ovulation symptoms.

kayjayel · 06/11/2010 20:19

Hi, am I too late to join? I'm going mad trying not to obsess about whether I'm pregnant, and AF probably due 9/10 Nov, but these last days are the hardest! My stats are: TTC DC3; cycle 1; UCL 25-29; due 9/10 Nov.

I have fairly bad cramps, and I'm trying not to over-interpret, but in my mind I'm convinced its a pregnancy sign. Despite the fact I often get cramps in non-trying months. Its my first month trying for DC3 and I swore I'd be less obsessed and would be 'too busy to think about it' - no chance!

Only DP knows, which is also driving me mad as both last times I could talk to friends (though I think it helps force me to ignore it), so I just needed to post and tell someone that I have a secret hope I might be pregnant! Feel free to tell me its madness, or encourage me in optimism!

Brasso4 · 06/11/2010 22:03

Eskarina, so glad you got AF (in the nicest possible way) Wink. No sign here - day 43.

goldmaple · 06/11/2010 23:20

Hi kayjayel! I encourage your optimism Grin!

eskarina Glad you got AF too, and that its not as bad as they were pre-pill (at least i hope it still isn't). I have not enjoyed the cramps that come when I'm off the pill but I don't want to go on it again!!

queenrollo sorry to hear you think AF is on her way! FX its not!

Anyone else testing soon? 12DPO here and a bfn:( Will try again tomorrow.

kayjayel · 07/11/2010 09:32

Hi goldmaple, thanks! Today I'm sure I'm not pregnant, so less optimism here. Sorry you had your bfn, hopefully its just too early. Any symptoms to obsess over?

wantonenow · 07/11/2010 12:18

Hi everyone,

I did a 3 tests yesterday and all were positive! It hasn't quite sunk in yet as this is our first month of trying and didn't expect it to happen so quickly. Just keeping my fingers crossed for the next 3 months.

Good luck to everyone. x

Eskarina · 07/11/2010 12:55

CONGRATULATIONS wantonenow

wantonenow · 07/11/2010 13:08

Thanks Eskarina! Glad your AF has arrived and good luck for next month! Smile

Brasso4 · 07/11/2010 13:44

Congratulations wantonenow hope everything goes really well for you!

goldmaple · 07/11/2010 16:37

Congrats wantonenow!

Sorry to hear your optimism has faded kayjayel. Mine has too. Temps dropped a bit, another BFN. Only symptom is sore boobs which always come a bit before AF. Trying not to be sad but really thought Third time would be a charm.
