Hi,

We were talking about this a lot on the charting thread and thought it would be good to start a separate thread.

There's about 3 of us at the moment but please do join us too if you are TTC with this added probem.

My results were 9.07 and then a few weeks later 5.5. I'm due another blood test in 5 weeks and hopefully my GP should be starting me on Thyroxin soon.

Quite worried cos the NHS guidelines say your numbers should be a lot lower when pregnant. still i haven't got that BFP yet so I guess I'll worry then.

ladygonegaga and Bessie26 - hurry up and join me here Grin.

Hello again thanks for that Beesok will prob give up on them then - rang my GP this morning and asked for my TSH level - its 5.5. Is that bad ? He said when I go back for next bloods in Dec my thyroxine may need to be increased so I shall wait and see :)

My experience of OPK's has taught me.

Don't drink much for a couple of hours before using.

Always wait until you are desperate for a wee, at least 2 hours.

If the sample isn't very yellow don't bother - it wont work.

Always do OPK's in the afternoon/evening.

HTH Grin

I get results on the cheapo ones and the very expensive smiley faces - so I don't think the price matters.

Louin don't necessarily give them up based on my advice :) I just couldn't be bothered so used the sex every 24hrs method which was successful but highly unsustainable on more than 2 cycles :) :) :)

Well I have good news to report! My TSH is now at 1.1!!! At least I know my thyroid is under control and I can rule out it having anything to do with my MC :)

Hello. I'm new to this forum, but came across this thread whilst googling ttc and underactive thyroid (the joys of google). I've just been diagnosed following a year of ttc and am hoping that it might be the missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle. Clearly, I'm also hoping that everything will now magically fall into place and I'll get my BFP this month.... I suspect that this might be ambitious, but I thought that I would see if I could gatecrash this thread to see if someone more knowledgable than me might be able to give me a better idea of what to expect? I have a TSH of 27.1 and the various T3, T4 etc levels are all either just below or the low side of normal. My GP put me on 50mmg of thyroxine last week (but didn't seem convinced that it would make a difference to ttc - although has agreed to refer us to a fertility specialist if nothing happens when I go back in a month for the next blood test results).

I really would appreciate any advice that you could give me in terms of timing - does thyroxine bring your levels down quickly or do you think I have a few more months before a BFP is realistic? Thank you in advance!

Hi Supersunny day and thank you so much for replying, and many congratulations on your BFP! (And very encouraging for me to hear!)

My T4 was 72 (on a 59 to 154 range) and my free thyroxine was 11.1 (on a 12 to 22 range). I also had a Free T3 of 4.1 (3.1 to 6.8) - not sure what the difference is between all these numbers! I tested positive for the antibodies, but not sure what the levels were.

It sounds like a good idea to ask for a referral to an endocrinologist - I have to go back to the GP in a few weeks so think that I will ask then. I'm just keen to get my TSH down asap now!

I've had a look back at the thread and see that you have PCOS, which is interesting. I had a lap to remove mild endometriosis in the summer (apparently so mild it wouldn't have had an effect on TTC) and from the reading I've done it seems that around 40% of women with PCOS or endo also have an underactive thyroid. I wish I'd known that a few months ago....

Thanks again for replying. This whole ttc thing can get a bit lonely and it's really good to "speak" to people in the same situation.

Louin · 11/11/2010 15:04

Hi ladies Im feeling really :( today and very confused - after detecting LH surge on Tue night, we were at it like two rabbits (sorry tmi) but then the b/f didnt want to again last night and we ended up arguing about it until gone 1 this morning - i think i can remember SWI on Mon but he seems to think we did it on the best day :( btw - temp was above my coverline this morning - the highest ists been this month so far. Please help!!

LadyGoneGaga · 11/11/2010 15:19

Think you'll be ok Louin. Really the more sex the better but if your temps are up today means you prob ovved yesterday and you really need to get the sperm up there before tghe egg comes along so you should be ok. Although FWIW your b/f being a bit selfish! Tell him to man up! Grin

me23 · 11/11/2010 17:55

Hello everyone just to report I saw gp today and finally persuaded him to refer me to endo, dp helped a lot as doc was still trying to fob me off. So am awaiting appt through the post will be a st georges hospital as that's where I am booked for antenatal care.
I will let you know what happens -even if the endo doesn't want to treat at least I will have my mind put at rest.
I have anomaly scan on monday-am hoping everything is ok with baby.

Beesok · 11/11/2010 20:20

Louin don't worry :) I heard you get a better chance for a girl that way (the further away from ovulation ;)

me23 hope all goes well with your scan and that the endo will be able to check everything and give you some reassurance

Louin · 12/11/2010 08:23

Beesok I have 2 girls already - am aiming for a boy this time :)

iggiii · 12/11/2010 14:01

Hello, hoping for a wee bit of advice from one of you charting experts.
Just a few days into my charting now, using a chart from that Taking Charge of your Fertility doorstop book. A few times now my temperature is just below the bottom of the chart at 96.8f (chart starts at 97 - this would be 36C.)
Does this mean I am a cold blooded freak? (Great something else to worry about!)

Beesok · 12/11/2010 20:42

well, Louin tell that man of yours to get on it as soon as your temp goes up if he wants Junior ;)

LadyGoneGaga · 12/11/2010 21:19

It will be too later once temp has gone up - she'll have already ovulated and egg will be dead. Get on it before!

Thyroid-y people are often a bit colder.

louin ditto what the others said about timing (although I think it's always good to get an "extra" one in just in case!) But I would suggest you don't ever tell your DP when it's "time" (I think they crumble under pressure!) - instead, resort to your womanly charms to make him initiate it at the right time!
