I think the 'tea' related stuff may be because various internet 'health' sites are getting confused between 'essential oils' and 'tea'. I've searched all over the place and cannot find any properly research evidence that moderate quantities of camomile or peppermint tea is bad for you whilst TTC whilst generally it seems it's not a good plan to go nuts with the essential oils if you are pregnant (fair enough). If anyone can find any real evidence I would be interested to read it though (honest; I like reading that sort of thing).

I have one cup of 'real tea' in the morning and then it's decaff and ginger/peppermint/camomile tea for the rest of the day. But that is because there does seem to be evidence that overdosing on caffeine is a bad plan. Plus it gives me the jitters Grin

Decaff earl grey sounds fabulous, I shall have to seek some out :)

nickstermum · 21/09/2010 15:04

bookant my BVit complex says the same. Mine has been recommended by a nutritional practioner who has advised me to keep taking it - but thats for me and bespoke to my requirements according to the plan she drew up for me.... cant speak generally :)

nickstermum · 21/09/2010 15:07

I have to say when i was pg with DS I started drinking decaf coffee, until i was told there are more chemicals in decaf to extract the caffeine which are worse than the caffeine itself!!! Dont know if true or not!

Jeez louise, joining you on the hot water - maybe add a slice of lemon if am allowed

I drank peppermint tea all through first pg, and allowed myself 1 real cup of coffee in the morning. TTC though post MC, i have cut right back.

nickstermum · 21/09/2010 15:09

Bookant bought the right thing, they all say that... agnus castus says the same. Its only because its not been tested/proven to be safe in pg.

BookAnt · 21/09/2010 17:26

Thanks for getting back to me ladies.

I think I will use it. I've been having so much trouble that it seems daft to not give this a try.

Thanks again

highheelsandequations · 21/09/2010 22:03

Okay, so now am thinking of adding bee pollen to my daily doses. Currently am downing agnus castus, vit b6 and pregnacare preconception with my morning ginger tea, will be rattling soon...

someone mentioned grapefruit juice, does eating grapefruit do the same thing?

Havingkittens · 22/09/2010 12:54

Vitamin D apparently. There are quite a few articles on in the web, including ones from the Telegraph and Daily Mail on this but I am linking to this one because it also refers to the womb lining as well as the issues mentioned in the newspaper articles which is interesting.

I was prompted to do the google search on this because I got a letter from the recurrent miscarriage clinic this morning and this was one of the recommendations, that I increase my dietary intake of vitamin D. Strangely, I regularly eat stuff that contains vitamin D, like Salmon, Mackerel, low fat dairy and mushrooms but still my levels are a little low so I'm going to get some supplements now.

Well hairy you are an advocate now for grapfruit juice, brazil nuts and pineapple juice!!!!

Cant argue with Fact!

fedupttcnosuccess · 23/09/2010 10:54

Anyone taken iron supplements while ttc? I've just been diagnosed as anaemic and prescribed ferrous sulphate. But googling the stuff has left me more confused than ever. Sorry to jump in head first ladies, but I thought I'd come straight to the experts! Please help :-)

owlshoes · 23/09/2010 11:17

I'd talk to your doctor; that's always the safest bet. Anaemia is horrible and exhausting, I hope you're feeling better soon. :)

fedupttcnosuccess · 23/09/2010 11:30

Thanks owlshoes, yes the doc recommended it; she is aware of our ttc efforts. Been actively trying for over 2 years: to no avail. Time running out fast: I'm 40, he's 43. No dc yet. Tests all fine. May go down private ivf path next year if nothing happens au naturel! X

HRHCavey · 23/09/2010 18:01

Just wondering if any of you have tried (are trying) Emma Cannon's methods in her Baby Making Bible. My copy arrived yesterday and I think I've established that I am Cold and Damp - makes me sound like a weather forecast!!!!

nickstermum · 23/09/2010 20:08

Im taking spatone, am not anemic (soz cant spell) but MC and lost lots blood so just kinda replacing that.... docs your best bet.

I am ttc! My practitioner told me to take it :)

fedupttcnosuccess · 23/09/2010 23:06

Thanks nickster! I'll continue with the ferrous sulphate with a clear mind! Not looking good recently, our end: had recurring cystitis for over 3 weeks so on antibiotics for that too! Oh well, life's a.... sorry for tmi and uncalled for winge!

kat2504 · 23/09/2010 23:36

Well hairy now I see that the start a thread/get a bfp link actually has some truth to it! And I shall be trying out some of these tips fairly soon. if it worked for you........

Need to find spurious reason to begin a thread. POAS addicts perhaps?

nickstermum · 24/09/2010 17:45
