Some of us on another thread have been swapping tips and ridiculous old wives tales scientifically proven methods - how about we start a list and help each other out.

I'll start.....

Brazil Nuts - good for implantation

sweetsherry "Consultation with NHS Fertility Specialist followed by LAP&DYE - did the job 4 months later. This is what worked."

I am everso much hoping this will work for me - I'm on the waiting list! but carrying on with lots of mumbo jumbo alternative and holistic interventions Grin

letsgoflo · 15/09/2010 14:57

I agree with sweetsherry the lap&dye probably did it for us.
This bee pollen which one are you buying on amazon? There are a few!

hairytriangle · 15/09/2010 15:44

ooh ooh! Liking the 'lap and dye works' crowd :)

Thanks for the tips ladies, all gratefully received!

I'm ttc #1 and came off the Pill in May but have not had a period since the end of June. Anyone else been in a similar position?

I'm taking Agnes Castus and have been to see the Dr but she said they won't do anything until AF has been missing for 6 months.

I'm intrigued by the bee pollen, but any other suggestions gratefully received!

sweetsherry · 15/09/2010 19:03

I got the granules from Amazon. I don't know why and I can't remember the brand. They were about £15 - but I'm getting desperate, so I don't mind throwing good money after bad at this stage.

(Luckily, I have my 2nd consultation with fertility consultant next week - hopefully hard science can help again this time where the mumbo junbo hasn't!)

nickstermum · 16/09/2010 19:35

So.... bee pollen, when do you take it... all through the cycle or what?!

Let me get this all right.

So Grapefruits uptil OV
Nuts for implanting
Whats with pineapple juice 2nd half of cycle?

spots have turned into ACNE! i dont bother with dot-to-dot now.... i dont need to- they all blend into one......... Sad Angry

BagofHolly · 16/09/2010 20:20

I had ivf and when they did the embryo transfer, it was really tricky cos my uterus is apparently set at a jaunty angle. I was afraid this would mean it wouldn't work by the gynae said that it might even help as some minor endometrial irritation sets off a particular inflammatory response which can aid implantation, and that's why there's often pregnancies straight after lap and dye, hyteroscopy, hysterosalpingograms etc. The ivf worked, by the way, both times!

MamaPower · 16/09/2010 23:08

HRH should I courtesy at this point Grin two stupid questions and I apologise in advance for the first but; Firstly, if you came off the pill in May and had a period end of June that means you have missed july and aug...you have POAS to confirm your not actually upduffed?
Can I also ask what pill you were on? I've heard that Cerazette can cause the cycle to screw up but I was on that one and my body snapped back to it's pre pill state straight away!
Lastly, just a word of caution, you must be very very careful with agnus castus. Because it is a herb it is not subject to any clinical trials and for every story of it helping there is one to say that it did the reverse!! I know that a previous poster mentioned you should not take it without seeing a proper herbalist and I really do second her opinion.
Anyway, hope your body rights itself soon x

hairytriangle · 17/09/2010 19:08

oh nickster I got acne this month too :( it's started to clear up but last month I had spots all through my cycle and then more at ovulation this month, so I was end to end zits :(

OP posts:
nickstermum · 17/09/2010 20:41

Ah its mental hairy If i look lopsided into the mirror my cheeks (only) are covered in bumps and red spots GAH! its totally knackers my confidence even as a 30 plus lady! I dont know whether i def ov'd yet as still in WTF cycle but i hope to god they dont get worse! Dried up a bit after i squibbed them with aftershave Grin

nickstermum · 17/09/2010 20:42

PS hairy when i was at the docs today she said they are probably just as a result of the MC and that would prob settle down soon.... HA! will see!

hairytriangle · 17/09/2010 21:32

Ah hadn't thought abut it being to do with the MC, although it is actually only since then that it's been a problem for me.

Dents my confidence too. Forty frigging two, childless, wrinkles and acne - what a bundel of laughs! Grin

Never mind, I have wine and chocolate this evening :)

OP posts:
nickstermum · 18/09/2010 16:56

i hadnt either i just thought it was cos i had a hormone imbalance that had caused the MC!

Am with you on the wrinkles acne, although you can add FAT to the list. DH grabbed me round the middle earlier and suggested i do some exercise! Mmmmmm Angry

HRHCavey · 19/09/2010 17:03

MamaPower thanks for the reply - HRH is a long but dull story! Sorry for not replying sooner, DH and I have been in Prague for a dirty weekend. I'm most definitely not upduffed - we carried on using condoms for a while but I've also peed on hundreds many sticks to be sure!

I was on Binovum. Very few people I have spoken to seem to have come across it! I've been horrendously spotty since coming off the Pill, though I've always had oily skin and hair.

I've just run out of AC so may leave it alone for a while. My Dr said that reflexology/acupuncture would not do any harm, but not to get carried away spending a fortune on alternative therapies!

hairytriangle · 20/09/2010 14:40

me too nickster :( I am distinctly comfort eating at present - the whole bloody thing stinks (I'm on a downer today). :(

OP posts:
nickstermum · 20/09/2010 20:52

Its like a blinkin' emotional roller coaster isnt it hairy and the zits are just the spotty icing on the crap cake Grin

I've been singing 'Zittedy doo da, Zittedy eh, My oh my what a spotty day' to myself all day..... i know am sad but it makes me giggle!

Hope you are feeling a little better this evening :)

NinjaChipmunk · 20/09/2010 21:38

this month i shall mostly be having bee pollen for dp, royal jelly for me and conceive plus to make it all slip slide along nicely.

At least, once i've been to the wholefood shop i will be.

I've also been upping my nut and seed intake. Final note to self - must drink more water and less tea!!

still even if i don't actually get pregnant i should still be stupidly healthy!

nickstermum · 20/09/2010 21:42

Now... question for you ladies. Coffee is no good when ttc, but is tea ok? Is there less caffeine in tea? I tend to drink peppermint, but do love a cup of earl grey :)

MamaPower · 20/09/2010 22:29

nicks I didn't realise caffeine was no good when ttc, thought it was just when pg!! ooops, oh well neither here n'or there for me really as I am fairly intolerant of the stuff so I only drink two cups before mid-day! However, I am lead to believe there is as much caffeine in tea as coffee! Here's the good news though chick, because of my intolerance I drink decaffeinated earl grey...you can't taste the difference Smile hope that helps!

NinjaChipmunk · 20/09/2010 22:39

another earl grey lover here, am about to switch to decaff, anyone recommend a good one?

HRHCavey · 21/09/2010 07:32

From what I can recall, 200mg of caffeine per day is the recommended limit if you are TTC - that's about one cup of "real" coffee, or two cups of instant or 4 cups of tea per day.

I also read that Green Tea should be avoided as research suggests it can inhibit the absorption of folic acid.

nickstermum · 21/09/2010 07:34

I backed off coffee last time i conceived, it inhibits implantation i think?

Greeneyesbigbottom · 21/09/2010 09:40

Hiya,

Sorry to jump right in but I'm at work (supposedly) and just had a discussion about the merits of giving up caffiene -v- 'other' teas, especially as I gave up coffee a while back in my quest for a baby!

see this

According to a wise and knowledgeable colleague (shes got 5 kids) apparently even peppermint tea is Bad.

Off to get a mug of hot water

MamaPower · 21/09/2010 09:46

Ninja decaf earl grey...Twinings, expensive but lovely!

Green I'm joining you on the water...might just add a slice of lemon... living on the edge!!

BookAnt · 21/09/2010 10:24

Hi Ladies,

I don't have anything to add, have been using a few of these remedies myself, but to no avail as of yet.

I just wanted to ask a question - I bought vit B complex to help with my cycles (i think, getting a bit confusing!) But am a bit worried after reading on the label - it said not to take if you are pg or wanting to become pregnant?!?!? Have I bought the wrong thing?

Thanks
