Had a mega migraine in the early hours, vomiting, the works. I've been having seriously bad head for the past fortnight cos I've not been sleeping much lately. I'm hoping I'll soon find soon relief from them. I've spent a lot of the day dozing on the sofa but my head feels bruised IYKWIM. Does anyone else get migraines? What helps you?

Yes, I get aura & banging headache & vomiting migraines. Started when I was 13, along with psoriasis and puberty. Fab.

I find the best thing is, at first onset, full doses of Zapain and ibuprofen, water, and a dark, quiet room - and trying to eventually doze/sleep.

I had one that was so concerning during pregnancy that I thought I'd had a stroke.

Sympathies Flowers

Akire · 15/09/2021 19:14

Oh no my sympathy! Had horrific for most my life never got given any support or meds helped. Luckily last 6-7y hormones level have meant only visual ones. But now with peri stuff regular get the 4am headache of doom. Most days have low level headache like you get when weathers changing.

I found vomiting the worse, by that point my head felt going exploded. I’m not going be told nothing can do again or I be in A&E everytime it happens I’m not letting myself suffer like tortured animal any more!

I know what you mean it’s constant bruise pain not throbbing or stabbing pain you get in acute stage. The only thing helped was TENS on head which made it just so didn’t have go Hospital but awful awful. If you can’t tell from my tone!

I know other had more like help with drugs and things these days. X

I’m another who has horrific migraines with aura and vomiting. I’m on topiramate as a preventer not convinced about it really.

Today I had a mega wobble. Was waiting until 5.30pm to collect my dihydrocodeine everything hurt especially my back, jaw and ribs. I hadn’t taken any since yesterday morning just paracetamol and ibuprofen and it was horrendous how much I needed them. I felt like a junkie needing heroin. I only take 4 a day. I got my usual 56 can’t have too many, so in 12 days time I’ll be back getting another prescription it’s ridiculous. If the pain doesn’t make you depressed, the shoddy healthcare and the way you get treated will.

Gentle hugs to anyone else in pain tonight

Gilead · 15/09/2021 22:45

Bad pain day today and I suspect the promethazine doesn’t agree with me mentally. I haven’t been longer than two weeks without speaking to the surgery and it makes me feel like I’m some sort of fraud!
Definitely an oramorph night tonight, maybe it’ll ease tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a decent night. 💐

SpindleWhorl · 15/09/2021 23:27

Night night and good luck, @Gilead.

Looks like my amitriptyline hasn't worked yet. My BP is too low and I feel crap.

Thanks, @Akire. What you up to?

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 16/09/2021 10:40

I've managed to sit on my perching stool and wash the pots this morning. I had last night's to do too.
DS2 brought all the dirty washing down and put some in the washing machine. He's only 6 bless him. He also tidied his bedroom all by himself (he shares with his older brother and usually just let's DS1 do it all) it meant we were late for school though as he spent all morning cleaning instead of getting his uniform on. HmmGrin

cricketmum84 · 16/09/2021 10:53

Good start to the day @HerRoyalRisesAgain!! My 17yo has only just learnt how to operate a washing machine 😂

I'm having an awful day, I'm in so much pain, it feels like someone is stabbing red hot needles right into my ankle bone and my toes. I can't walk at all even with my frame. I can't sit still and I'm struggling to concentrate on some quite complicated work I'm doing that needs to be finished today 😞

Is it too early for gin??

Akire · 16/09/2021 11:28

That’s lovely @HerRoyalRisesAgain what a star. Nice hear some people still wash up! I’m mid 40s never lived anywhere had space for dish washer but according most of MN this is like living in the ark.

Went boots try see get new inhaler as one ran out July and August. Had new one July but system says no. I risk not putting it in handbag to take out. I know they don’t like you stashing meds but sensible have spare especially one the blue ones don’t have a counter marker. Boots like no nobody sells them… quick google suggest Superdrug do and many others! People trust boots as brand if their pharmacy team are clueless there is no hope!

Sorry rough day @cricketmum84 must be so hard when you have concentrate with your type of work. That’s worst can’t move can’t sit still follow stuck in aeghhh stage

Fatigue is not too good today, I overdid it a bit yesterday and my foot is a bit sore.

Does anyone else find socialising difficult if the other people work and have busier lives? I have just started going for a walk with my dogs again after my foot surgery. I normally meet up with a lovely group of retired ladies and feel I can be on equal terms with them, we can talk about the dogs and TV etc and nobody minds if the conversation is not terribly exciting (or even a bit repetitive!). A younger lady who works has joined us the last couple of days and she remarked that I told her something the other day, I am sure she didn’t mean anything by it.

I have come home feeling really low, and that I am probably a bit boring 🙁 My doggy meet ups are often the only social interaction outside the home I have, as I lost my jobs round the time of the first COVID lockdown and I feel doubtful that I could commit to even voluntary work at the moment.

gunnersgold · 16/09/2021 13:30

I live with chronic pain in every joint , it's tiresome b I've just started magnesium tablets which I'm told will help ! Who knows 🙏🙏

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 16/09/2021 13:31

@Evenstar I'm autistic so socialising is difficult for em anyway, but that would upset me too. She probably didn't mean anything by it but I understood why you feel a bit rubbish about it.
A dog walking natter sounds lovely. The only social interaction I get lately is online, and the lovely woman I see on the school run each day who tells me what she's prayed for that morning g and how well I'm doing to stay positive despite my disabilities. Grin I think she's great.

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 16/09/2021 13:31

@gunnersgold it's crap isn't it? Hopefully you find something g to help ease some of the pain

gunnersgold · 16/09/2021 13:33

@HerRoyalRisesAgain I doubt it tbh , I've had it for years and no one can help. Told probably fibro but that's no help really is it 🤷‍♀️

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 16/09/2021 13:35

Probably fibro is such a brush off. Either kts fibro or something else is causing you pain, either way you need support and decent medical care. Unfortunately we are often ignored.

Evenstar · 16/09/2021 13:43

@HerRoyalRisesAgain that lady sounds lovely, and my husband has just come in and reassured me!

I subscribe to Fibromyalgia magazine and there was a great article in there that was was written in the style of social media influencers, and described this lady’s day which largely involved keeping enough energy for some essential stuff.

It was a great article and entertaining but the gist of it was how people are always saying “You look so well”. Honestly I think people would expect less if you looked ill, but then I know how badly people with visible disabilities are treated.

gunnersgold · 16/09/2021 13:47

I know , I've seen so many people and no one knows or cares . Does anyone ever actually get an answer and 'cure'?

Akire · 16/09/2021 13:55

@Evenstar totally relate only see one friend for hour a week as she’s retired. Family all far away and friends all working and having own families and kids and hobbies. Hard when people do more in an afternoon than you do in 3 months. Or what you doing today? Having a coffee then try survive till bedtime!

Hi @gunnersgold you are very welcome if you haven’t been before. It’s so hard when years of pain is dismissed. I think I have Fibromyalgia but multiple other things and every time I mention it get glossed over. Usually hard enough sort out the 2-3-4 things of why you are there on the day.

Evenstar · 16/09/2021 13:58

Our surgery has a big notice reminding you that appointments are for 1 problem only. It would take you about 3 months to get seen for 3 problems seperately!

Akire · 16/09/2021 14:03

Yes I have that too but since it’s so difficult speak to anyone by time you see them there really are 2-3 things you need new drugs for or questions to ask. I have very visible disabilities so maybe they allow me more than average. It’s like being in field hospital your arm and legs has been blown off but we can only discuss one today…pick!

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 16/09/2021 14:08

I think I'm lucky that my rheumatologist will take everything into consideration. He's fab.
But my GP just brushes me off as if I don't matter. Its like trying to get blood from a stone trying to get her to listen to more than one thing per appointment.

Akire · 16/09/2021 18:26

@cricketmum84 did you manage get work done in the end?

Have constant headache last few months sure hormone related. Does anyone take anything? I do a magnesium one for restless legs but not ultra high. Not migraine although expecting them change when peri swings into action more.

cricketmum84 · 16/09/2021 18:36

@Akire yeah most of it thanks. Worked through lunch so I took a bit of time back this evening to enjoy some sunshine in the garden before winter hits!

I'm absolutely exhausted by the pain levels today though. I've really struggled to cope, I don't understand why it's been so much worse than usual. I have been so tearful this evening and can barely talk to people.

Think it's going to be an early night and a fuck-ton of meds for me tonight.
