Mood swings and surgery

Due to have surgery in just under a week, so self isolating as instructed by the hospital for 10 days and my moods are very up and down, one minute feeling OK about it and the next I'm tearful and anxious. Wondering if this is normal or if its the added factor of having to isolate making me feel a bit wobbly!

I hope your arm moves a bit better soon.
Took ages to get through to gp this morning explained my wound has opened, infection and feel awful and I have a dr calling me back shortly. I dont see why the wouldnt give me a sick note as I have no strength just a waiting game for now.

Hope the Dr calls back soon, I'm sure they'll give you a sick note to allow you to get better. You've just had surgery and you have an infection, you must feel dreadful Flowers

Thanks me too. I think its funny im getting a call when my wound has opened lol. I do, pain has ramped up in the past few days more like 3 days post op atm so something really isn't right. My version of a shower atm is sitting in the bath with the shower running as I cant stand long enough.

Hi @Perpetualstateofchaos I hope that you have been seen properly now and that you are feeling a bit better? Hope you had a better week too @fairycakesandtea7

Dr signed me off. I was admitted to hospital for a short while and had iv antibiotics and checked over. Antibiotics changed which seem to be helping. The school run this morning wasnt fun. Hope your both well

@Perpetualstateofchaos sorry I've not been on MN for a few days as I've been out of it in horrendous pain - my neck and chest feels like it's on fire (apparently it's the nerve endings coming back to life)

What an ordeal this has turned out for you, I'm so glad that you finally got the medical help you need. The school run must've been so hard Flowers Are you feeling any better?

Hi @fairycakesandtea7 hope you are doing ok?

Hi both hope you are both feeling much better! Haven't been on for a while, I unfortunately had an infection but it has cleared up now. Feeling knackered and getting frustrated with how slow my walking is, but on the bright side I can start fully weightbearing at the end of this week. Still not back at work yet, and in a lot of pain still (more so than what's usual according to the hospital but I have long history of chronic pain so I'm not overly concerned yet). How are you both getting on?

Hello @fairycakesandtea7 I've been wondering how you are, so sorry to hear that you had an infection Flowers what a nasty shock for you! It's been 6 weeks since my surgery, so are you about 8 weeks now? Time seems to have lost all meaning....I'm a long way from being better too. I hate the incision, it's across my neck and shoulder and it's just impossible to get any relief. I'm struggling with nerve pain too, so overall I'm getting pretty fed up with it all! I can start physio on Friday, so hopefully they can bring some positivity! That will be a good milestone for you this week to be able to stand up fully weight baring. It's a long time for you to be so limited in your mobility. I wish you all the best for a full recovery. Hope you are doing ok @Perpetualstateofchaos
