Hello,

This thread is to share the day to day... The moans, rants, fears, anger of day to day living with pain... And let's be positive where we can too... Little or big achievements.

I've had a tough day with my grumpy toddler who is obsessed with biting, he made my shoulder bleed today 😢

On the plus side, had a great pilates class and managed some tricky stuff despite feeling exhausted... I couldn't have done it unless my teacher was on Zoom telling me to hold it!

I do, yes, a sort of foam cell one as I find my dining chairs extremely uncomfortable these days.

doadeer · 17/06/2021 21:20

Oh very sore day for me 😢
Had a lot of pain I've had a glass of wine tonight as no doubt I'll be back on the stronger stuff soon and I can't drink on it as it always gives me a headache.
Trying to stay positive but I don't think what I have can be "cured" this inflammation in my facet joints keeps coming back. I'm only 30 it's so depressing ☹️

Akire · 17/06/2021 21:27

Sorry about your bad day. I’m same more often than not have drink In the evening. Helps to get me through and you got to have something. Sorry you are only 30 that’s tough. I’m mid 40s and feels like to far ahead with pain Flowers

Akire · 21/06/2021 22:31

Not having the best day. One thing is better and then other thing gets really bad. It’s like juggling all the bloody time. Grrr grrr grrr. Sometimes a bad Monday can feel like the weeks going be endless WineWine

doadeer · 22/06/2021 11:29

Oh yes it's the worst sorry Akire. Is today any better?

I'm tired but forcing myself to do a swim this lunchtime but I'll probably only be able do 200m

OP posts:
Akire · 22/06/2021 11:39

A bit thanks @doadeer but now all dizzy and weak for no reason. Honestly it does get ridiculous some days. Swim sounds lovely!

Akire · 24/06/2021 15:40

Hey @doadeer and anyone else here! Having fed up day with pain. Not really depressed just sad mill stone of this is how it bloody is day. I’m lucky in that I have nothing to do beyond basics for themselves so for that I’m grateful.

Been looking at future and sorting things out but as a live on benefits I’ve had discussion with parents that not much point leaving me anything (will not be much anyway) as I can’t spend it as I wish. Will have to use it for living expenses and this will have to be agreed by DWP ie no going long holiday as that will count as getting rid of capital etc. Depressing that can’t improve my life in any way. Better off that siblings get money they can spend and use it for new car or kitchen. I know trust funds can be set up but it not be for much and they costs in terms of money and then over seeing very little thing.

doadeer · 24/06/2021 16:01

Oh @Akire I'm so sorry for you.

Could your siblings use it to treat you to some nice things that would make you more comfortable such as the new bed and new sofa, a wheelchair a TV, anything that would make your home feel more cosy and comfortable?

Do you have any neighbours or friends nearby?

OP posts:
Akire · 24/06/2021 16:09

It’s ok no one dying yet and don’t really need anything as such. Just having conversations with parents and wills. Hard siblings all have half decent pensions talk about savings and investments and own homes. My future pension forecast is only £45 week as I had to give up working young and if there are such things as pension credits in the future that will top it up to bare mim benefit level I will be lucky. I know not everyone here would count them selves as disabled or incapacity by conditions or pain but I am.

Just adds another level to “what does the future hold” doesn’t it. Lucky I’ve never had much in my life and very low expectations so it’s not that so to speak. Guess just lack of options and choice. Rant over!

doadeer · 24/06/2021 20:09

That's what this space is for.

A space to vent, rant.... I kept crying yesterday... Just one of those days.

I'm sorry I can't wave a magic wand... It must be so frustrating for you. Is there no hope they could find some solutions for you? Sorry if that's really annoying of me to say. 💐

OP posts:
Akire · 24/06/2021 20:15

It’s ok pain is more secondary to other issues. You get used all sorts limitations but it’s the pain stops you doing or enjoying things and makes you want to scream.

How you doing today? Sorry you had crying day yesterday Flowers

doadeer · 24/06/2021 20:55

Yes 💔
I find the tiredness quite crippling with a toddler in tow!

I'm seeing a new rhematologist tomorrow who looks excellent and I just had a delivery of muscles relaxants to try... But they do warn they cause sleepiness 🙄 so might just have to be an evening thing otherwise I can't get through the day. All the drugs seems to have side effects don't they

Hi folks, I have hand pain which affects my work - bummer. It is some sort of arthritis but I am waiting to find out which type it is.

Disclaimer - this will be a really boring post so feel free to skip it - I just want to have a good old moan! Grin

My pain started in my index finger - funnily enough after my first Pfizer vaccine - and at first it wasn't that painful, just stiff - it still is. But now it has spread to my thumb joints and it is really painful. If you're still reading (and awake!) does anyone else have painful / arthritic thumbs?

The strange thing is that sometimes the pain is just a faint dullish ache and I can move my hand around OK and do normal stuff, but at other times it's extremely painful - like someone's sticking pins in me. And it changes daily, often within the same day.

It's a selfish thumb, see - if it could just give me some notice of when it's going to kick off I could plan around it and get my tasks done first GrinGrin

Akire · 25/06/2021 12:41

Hi User welcome! Most of use have the daily play pain lotto. What will hurt.. how much… how long? Adds to the general pain in butt of chronic pain in that can’t plan things around it.

I have pain in 2 fingers but x Ray didn’t show “show anything” sometimes it’s pick up plate drop it because sharp pain. Others times just feel swollen and stiff. It’s annoying

User23456 · 25/06/2021 14:17

Hi Akire, thanks. Do you mind me asking if you have been diagnosed with a condition for your hand/ finger pain?

Akire · 25/06/2021 14:19

No had X-ray and the person (rheumatology) said nothing was wrong. I’m mid 40s so not quite old age yet

Akire · 25/06/2021 14:31

I think I posted on your other thread. Sometimes they can’t give you a specific reason why things hurt or do much about it. But you should still try and work around it and adapt if need be if it’s a random “we have no idea” or straight forward like arthritis.

I went to my pre-op appointment at the hospital this morning, the other lady waiting had fibromyalgia and the lady who was manning reception is wondering if she has it.

It is striking to me that for women in particular there is a huge lack in terms of considering our health holistically. People who end up being diagnosed with a chronic pain condition (and many other conditions) often seem to have spent years being seen by different doctors and specialists and getting no further. I think there is an especial lack of consideration of the huge role hormones play in many illnesses and all the different situations in women’s lifetimes that cause enormous fluctuations in them.

Defo most medical trails and studies are done on men and of women are included the numbers are small and data is not sex divided. So you can’t tell is it worked 70% if the 30% who failed did so at certain points in cycle. I’m so tired of complaining about individual pain conditions that on their own maybe are 8-10 days a month yet together mean pain everyday!

Is everything ok for the op?

doadeer · 25/06/2021 16:48

@User23456
Welcome! 👋

Please never say you are boring. We all live locked with this pain and it's so domineering. You always have people to talk to here.

doadeer · 25/06/2021 16:50

I'm feeling very low. I had another appointment today and there was the suggestion that they won't be able to fix me and she kept mentioning therapy to help me deal with the diagnosis.

I'll explain more tomorrow I'm feeling so sad I won't do it justice today.

@Evenstar you are so right. And many of the suggestions they make for trying to help are simply just not doable for women

OP posts:
Akire · 25/06/2021 16:53

Aw @doadeer sorry to hear that they can’t do anything. Least sounds like they understood something of what that might mean to you life. Sends over the Gin Gin

doadeer · 25/06/2021 17:14

My case is being sent to a panel of top specialists in London, a multi disciplinary team but it's not for 4 weeks. Maybe one of them will just figure out the source of the pain.

It's just no way to live like this.

@Akire seems to be, I had an MRSA swab and ECG this morning and COVID test tomorrow so as long as they are all OK then just got to hope it isn’t cancelled again 🤞🏻

Evenstar · 25/06/2021 17:31

So sorry to hear that @doadeer 💐 I really hope the MDT comes up with something
