Hello,

This thread is to share the day to day... The moans, rants, fears, anger of day to day living with pain... And let's be positive where we can too... Little or big achievements.

I've had a tough day with my grumpy toddler who is obsessed with biting, he made my shoulder bleed today 😢

On the plus side, had a great pilates class and managed some tricky stuff despite feeling exhausted... I couldn't have done it unless my teacher was on Zoom telling me to hold it!

Ooh I like the look of that workout @MedusasBadHairDay. Also check out Team Body Project on YouTube

My period is AWOL but the pain isn’t. No idea what’s going on but have a scan on Tuesday (very quick work, so now I’m wondering what they are concerned about). It’s at least a week late now even going by my longest cycles. Never happened before and I’m quite worried - even took a pregnancy test even though it would basically have to be an immaculate conception since it’s been 7 weeks since we last tried and failed due to pain and I’ve had a period since. Obviously it was negative!

Hope you don't mind me joining, but does anyone else here suffer from TMJD?

doadeer · 17/04/2021 14:09

Wow wonderful on the exercise front! Hooray!!

Indeed. Apart from "doctors are so happy to hand out painkillers..."

DuckWithOneWing · 17/04/2021 21:45

So I've been taking that reguvinex stuff that @Lotusmonster recommended for about a week now, and my pain has been so much better in the mornings! I used to wake up feeling stiff and unable to move, but the last few days I haven't.

It's still early so I can't be sure it's the tablets and not something random, but I'm really hopeful that it's working for me

GrouchyKiwi · 18/04/2021 18:37

@MedusasBadHairDay

Just wanted to share a bit of good news, I've found a workout video on YouTube I can do, it's low impact so not too stressful for my joints, and kind of fun (as fun as exercise can be 😂). I can't do all the things in the video yet, don't have the strength in my muscles to keep up, but hopefully I can gradually improve that. It's been interesting because usually I'd be in agony for days after, but I've done it 2 days in a row and am only slightly more sore than usual. So hopefully it's sustainable.
Thanks so much for linking the video Medusa. It sounds great, and well done to you!

But frustrated this morning, managed to hurt my ankle (I committed the mortal sin of standing up and expecting it to support me). I can put weight on it, but it bloody hurts, so like like my daily exercise is going to have to be skipped today. I was quite enjoying it too.

Instead I'm all strapped up and trying to keep it elevated. My body can never let me forget it's broken can it?

PaperMonster · 19/04/2021 12:35

Wow! I’ve been to see a private physio today and had some hands-on treatment. He absolutely totally gets it. This is going to be expensive, I can see! I think that just being taken seriously and being prodded and poked is good for me mentally.

WinoLino · 19/04/2021 15:12

Totally agree about being taken seriously @PaperMonster. I think that's a treatment in itself!

Been doing some exercises for sciatica on YouTube and they have helped. Also I'm on a ton of Gabapentin. Anyone else here take it? I feel like it makes me more forgetful Hmm

doadeer · 19/04/2021 15:33

@MedusasBadHairDay
Oh no, so sorry about your fall, that must be so frustrating.

@PaperMonster
That's wonderful about the physio. It's so annoying that the only things that help cost a bomb

@WinoLino
Yes I take 1800mg of gabapentin (3x 2 tablets) I'm actually trying to wean off it now so dropping one tablet every 6 days. Are you getting any relief?

Thank you @WinoLino and @doadeer. Feeling very bruised this evening. He comes recommended to me by a number of people, so I have high hopes!!

doadeer · 19/04/2021 19:33

@WinoLino
Do you roll a tennis ball across your glutes? I've heard it can help sciatica

OP posts:
doadeer · 19/04/2021 19:34

@PaperMonster
Did the physio know what's been causing the pain?

OP posts:
PaperMonster · 19/04/2021 20:11

@doadeer - I have numerous msk issues but he could pinpoint in my neck the area from where the pain is radiating, so whilst I’ve not been told that it’s a specific condition it’s more my pre-existing condition combined with wfh during the first lockdown without proper equipment which has caused there to be pain. So he knows where to focus his efforts!!

GrouchyKiwi · 21/04/2021 08:55

Hope you're feeling better after your fall @MedusasBadHairDay.

My feet and ankles have been particularly difficult the past few days. Last night I asked my DD (9) to get my slippers, and she wore my boots upstairs saying "I'm Mummy; everything hurts, ow ow" so that was nice.

That's never nice, DS did something similar when he was younger.

I'm doing a bit better, my ankle still wasn't right yesterday, but seems a better today. So hopefully I can do some exercise today without setting off the pain again.

Oh that must have been hurtful, I'm so sorry 😢 I've sat on the bean bag playing with my son with tears running down my face. He is non verbal and limited emotional comprehension which in some cases regarding my pain it's a blessing. That's so sad in itself. 💐💐

Hi i have been in hospital with suspected Claudia equine, they have ruled it out, I’m home with loads of drugs, my main pain is feet if I sit they go purple, so have to be quick having a wee legs also go blotchy and purple, I know it’s all related to my disc herniations but they said on scan nothing has got worse in 7 months, so I just don’t get why I have got worse, they said you must move about but that’s what I do walk for an hour lay half hour up again all day, they don’t seem to know why my feet are so bad, has anyone any experience of anything similar I’m normal weight always been very fit, any thoughts I would really appreciate it’s definitely coming from spine as it’s shooting down from there down back of legs, thank you in advance

MrsAvocet · 21/04/2021 13:17

Sorry to hear so many of you are having a particularly tough time at present.
Not much to report here. I'm having a bit of hassle getting my pension. I thought once the medical assessors had agreed that I was eligible for ill health retirement it would be straightforward, but the actual claim form is a nightmare. It may as well be written in a foreign language as far as I'm concerned. I'm not great with financial stuff at the best of times and this isn't the best of times! And my former employers are being their usual helpful selves..🙄 I'm waiting for someone from my union to call me back to see if they can help.

Forestiere · 21/04/2021 13:38

Hi everyone, May I join?

I have :
Widespread joint pain all over
Permanent numbness in my fingers and thumbs
Awful lower back pain which I've had for ages

GP said the numbness is due to my B12 deficiency, I have Pernicious anaemia.

Also may have Fibro but they're only making essential referrals atm so I've just got lots of painkillers, naproxen and 30mg cocodamol. Worried as RA is rife in my family but GP said it's not heriditery so didn't test for anything like that.

It gets me down but hey ho things could be worse.

doadeer · 21/04/2021 19:58

@user1497873278 that sounds dreadful, I had to Google the suspected condition, very scary.

@Forestiere warm welcome. Safe space to rant, celebrate or ask for advice 🙏

@MrsAvocet oh why do they make it so difficult?! Can anyone in your family help?

doadeer · 21/04/2021 20:01

I'm still in bad shape with my lower back, I'm being sent for more imaging, it's a one where they add a radioactive dye to get a better view at the bones.

The down side is I can't be near my toddler after. Going to sneak back in and lock bedroom door till he goes to bed 😢

I'm still doing exercise classes with a PT 2-3 times a week but bloody hell its hard. I feel like I have a permenant hangover and I'm getting migraines and headaches almost every other day. Feel like my body has just had enough.
