How many rooms in your home have you decorated?

And which one is the most Christmassy?

I've realised that I've put the most effort into the kitchen - that's where we will be eating Christmas dinner. It looks really cosy now. I have cream shaker units and wooden worktops and have used lots of red candle and tealight holders which look great against the cream.

The Christmas tree is in the family room and is possibly a teeny bit big for the room - especially now there are presents under it! I have decorated the fireplace but nothing else in there. No room really!

I have put a few (tasteful!) bits up in the other living room - mainly because it is open plan with the hallway so visible to anyone coming in. And put some things up the stairs. And that's it. Haven't done anything upstairs.

lounge, dining room, kitchen, hall and study. with a couple of decs in the downstairs loo. Mainly lights and candles and cards as opposed to full blown decs.

Avendesora · 23/12/2009 08:17

Just lounge and kitchen.

DecorHate · 23/12/2009 08:21

I know someone who has 3 Christmas trees (and I'm not talking about piddly little foot high ones!). One real in posh living room, one fake in family room, one fake in kitchen...

Living room. And a small tree on the kitchen window sill.

Hulababy · 23/12/2009 09:10

I have a tree in the living room and a couple of bits of tnsel, some cards and DD's advent stuff.

DD has put sme tinsel in her room and playroom.

There are some extra cards in the kitchen, on the side windowsill.

MrsJohnDeere · 23/12/2009 09:15

Just the sitting room here. Tree and a few bits and pieces on the mantlepiece.

FolornHope · 23/12/2009 09:16

lol at "tasteful"
no we presumed theyd be shit

MrsMattie · 23/12/2009 09:16

Don't really go all out with decorations.

Christmas tree in the living room + Christmas cards on mantlepiece.

Christmas cards all over kitchen + a Christmassy plant and some paper chains the kids made.

DS has made some decorations for his room.

I've put some holly from my garden up in the entrance hall.

Bonsoir · 23/12/2009 09:22

We have a Christmas tree in the sitting room, a white cardboard cut-out castle decorate with LEDs in the hall and we have decorated our front door. I will decorate the dining table for meals.

DecorHate · 23/12/2009 09:26

I probably meant subtle as opposed to tasteful! i.e. in that I could get away with leaving some of them up after Christmas....

Have you gone back to a real tree Folorn or is the fake one (with snow iirc?) still going strong?

I am already getting fed up with our real tree - starting to shed and takes up too much room.

FolornHope · 23/12/2009 11:54

Hmmmmm We have a 6ft tree, ceiling decs and lights in the front room, upstairs and downstairs hallways have lights and decorations, boys room has 2x 2ft trees for Father Christmas to leave presents under, plus ceiling decs etc, DD's room has a 3ft tree plus other decs, MY room has 3ft tree and ceiling decs, lights in kitchen....the DC's asked this year if I would decorate the bathroom and toilet, but even I drew the line at that.....

CardyMow · 23/12/2009 12:43

Front room is silver & blue, hallways are black &gold, my room is black, silver and red, DD's room is black white and bright pink, boys room is half blue & silver, half red & white, and kitchen is traditional red, gold & green.

Numberfour · 23/12/2009 12:46

jposh front room, casual lounge, dining room, toy room, entrance hall, tv room, den.

the fact that they are all one and the same room is irrelevant

Numberfour · 23/12/2009 12:46

er... posh not jposh, of course

DecorHate · 23/12/2009 12:48

Has anyone decorated the outside of their house? I visited a friend recently who lives in a newish cul-de-sac and she and her neighbours had matching lights outside - looked a bit like the houses in Home Alone iykwim....

I am tempted but live on a main road and can imagine them bring nicked by people coming home from the pub!

We have no outside lights, but i'd love to light up the house like the Griswolds in national Lampoons christmas.

We have one tree in the hall. In fact the hall is my most decorated room.

tulpe · 23/12/2009 13:00

I'd love lights on the outside of my house. DH said no last year because he couldn't be persuaded otherwise. This year he relented but then we were supposed to be going away....snow has put the scuppers on that but still no outside lights

We have decorated the sitting room, playroom, hallway (garlands along the banisters type thing), and a little something in the kitchen. We have a real tree in the sitting room (decorated by me) and a fake tree in the playroom - decorated by DCs. I love their tree - tis a riot of colour and naffness with everything literally thrown on

GodRestYeMerryMummyLin · 23/12/2009 13:11

lounge and dining room and conservatory where we eat,and also got the front of the house done.

CommonNortherner · 23/12/2009 14:19

Unfortunately my dad died last month otherwise I would've made the whole house look like the Christmas section of Poundland had vomited over it!

HugeBaublesWhatDidISayRoy · 23/12/2009 15:06

awww commonnortherner. sorry for your loss.

CommonNortherner · 23/12/2009 15:33

Thank you

ABetaDad · 23/12/2009 15:37

Lounge only with an Xmas tree but I have over 1000 lights in the garden.

Looks like Blackpool out there! .

fanjolina · 23/12/2009 16:02

Hallway has a few "tasteful decorations", and I have decorated banisters to the two floors and have decorated the main upstairs landing a bit too.

Formal lounge has a few subtle decorations. Tree and presents are in the playroom. And there are a few bits in our family room/kitchen/diner (never-know-what-to-call-it room).

Sounds a lot but there is actually very little. Doesn't feel overly festive.

Oh yes, I have put red bead strings into the recessed bits on all the Victorian doors.

DD also has a fibre optic tree in her room.

And at the weekend I bought a mini LED tree for our decking. DH took the piss and called me a chav, but he loves it when it is lit up.

Wineonafridaynight · 23/12/2009 17:34

Well we just decorated the living room and hall way at our flat. Now at my parents and my mother has decorated the living room, dining room, upstairs landing and downstairs hall. I think there are also a few bits in the kitchen but not much.
