paisleyleaf · 30/11/2009 21:03

Almost immediately she wakes up

Hassled · 30/11/2009 21:03

At the crack of dawn. They spend the whole of December either on a sugar rush, or plummeting down from the sugar rush.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/11/2009 21:22

randomly! whenever dd remembers.

lucykate · 30/11/2009 21:24

morning, they couldn't possibly contain their excitement longer than that (playmobil one)

GrumpyWhenWoken · 30/11/2009 21:29

morning but only after they're dressed, had breakfast etc. I started my first calendar in November to get ds2 to get dressed as he will do most things for chocolate

saving some for January too!

Lilyloo · 30/11/2009 21:30

First thing as soon as they wake up

sandyballs · 30/11/2009 21:36

First thing. Got a lego one this year. Just looking at it now and thinking what a big con it was. Just hope DDs like it.

mumtofour · 30/11/2009 21:39

Mine do theirs in the morning as soon as ready for school. We then light the candle at night. I Love advent calendars...we have so many variations it can take along time lol

Eddas · 30/11/2009 21:56

as I thought, I might be being a bit mean

I started the thread to see if I was weird well to see if my parents were weird as opening it in the morning would be very odd for me as we always had to wait til after dinner!

As soon as they wake up, but DD's don't have chocolate calendars just the Phoenix Cards ones where they 'build a scene' with little pieces each day. I am a mean mummy. Can't abide the thought of them starting each day for the next 3.5 weeks with crappy chocolate.

EldonAve · 30/11/2009 22:07

evening

Plonker · 30/11/2009 22:08

Oh thanks for the reminder!!!! Morning, and they will be looking for it first thing tomorrow - thanks so much for reminder

Lizzylou · 30/11/2009 22:11

Morning, we just have this felt Christmas tree where each little pocket has something that goes on the tree.........they take it in turns to put something on the tree.
This is the first year that no well-meaning Grandparent has bought a chocolate one.

fabhead · 30/11/2009 22:24

I am attempting after dinner this year which is the first year really they will be able to go on about it (4 and 2) though they have had chocolate ones since the first christmas post-weaning (tho I ate most in the early years). But I suspect it will morph into when get home from school.

I did have vague ideas about only using the felt pocket ones with small fairtrade organic lentily weavery type trinkets in but I caved in when ds1 nearly wet himself at the shops the other day when he saw the "boxes with 100s and 100s of choclates in them to eat every day!". I did buy nice Thorntons ones tho as I hate the moldy old cheap chocolate ones that have been in a storage container in Taiwan for the last 4 years. I let him eat one of the extra chocolate ones today so the signs aren't good.

Oh and I have bought him a Playmobil one too which he can open in the morning - is he th emost spoilt kid on MN?

Lizzylou · 30/11/2009 22:28

Fabhead, Yep, I think so
Mine are apopletic over our ancient GLTC ancient felt thingy!
I just wanted a traditional thing, I actually bought the CHristmas before DS1 was born (in the March).
D'you know, at this time of year, I think all bets are off, do what you like/can afford/makes your DC happy!

Leslaki · 30/11/2009 22:35

We have a fab felt thingy Xmas tree one which will get opened when they remember - and chocolate cheap tatty ones which they will be almost faint with excitement over for the next 3 weeks - so it's morning for me!!! can't spoil Xmas or the run up!! They only believe for so long and think this might be Ds' last year of believeing so making the most of it!!
