For a few of the adults that are hard to buy for (they're all 25-35) I am making up sweets in a jar, the kind of sweets we all ate as children and loved but don't buy/can't buy now. Would anyone mind looking at the list below and telling me what you loved and i've left off?!

I am going to put a few of each sweet into each jar so that they won't end up with lots of the same and I think there needs to be lots of different things.

  • Sherbet pips
  • fish n chips
  • black jack
  • fruit salad
  • chocolate cups
  • rhubarb and custard
  • foam strawberries
  • foam mushrooms
  • gobstoppers
  • shrimps
  • fizz whizz (popping candy)
  • candy whistle
  • drumstick
  • milk bottles
  • cola bottles
  • fizzers
  • gum bears
  • wham bars
  • pear drops
  • candy letters
  • highland toffee bar

TIA

Haven't gone through all the pages but I can't see Parma Violets anywhere!?? Surely they are worthy of a mention!

I also used to eat something called Dinosour eggs. They were a large egg-shaped gobstopper that came in a little box for 10p!

Oooh yes wigeon - Nerds, yum yum yum!! Major craze of them at school at one point, must have been about 14 (I'm 27) also Jolly Ranchers were huge around then too. But didn't add them as they were a packet sweetie. Can you still get them?! The watermelon ones were SO yummy!

multicoloured polos?how about the retro chocolate bars such as caramacs and drinks (can't remember the name but you had to twist the top off)?

I'm going to see if I need anymore after my order is delivered as I spent £35 on sweets last night (plus £6 for delivery!) Some things are easily bought still so I might need to top up

Thanks for all the ideas

Sorry to those I've made crave sweets

Hope I've given someone a good present idea. I'll post some photos once I get the sweets and make the jars. I'm excited Hope the recipients like them after all this effort

oooo multi coloured polos! I remember them!

I did this for my Dad but I filled the whole jar with double lollies. He loves them!

Wigeon · 01/12/2009 12:25

Yes, Nerds! Nerds! Sadly, I remembered what they were called just as I was falling asleep last night!

Great idea for presents, Eddas!

I wish they still made lemondade Dip-Dabs. I know they do Dip-dabs but the lemonade ones were the best
