I can't decide what I'm going for... I can hardly wear glittery heels and a sparkly to prance around on the Wii and cook dinner...

But jeans and a t-shirt seems a bit un-special.

Dazzle me with yer yuletide ensembles, o mumsnetters!

imn nwo wearing heels to cook and hold in farts all day

lavenderkate · 02/11/2009 22:16

having a 1970's theme this year so I think a long dress a la Margo Ledbetter will be in order for me.
DH will be sporting high waisted slacks and a nylon polo. (AS if, but he will grow a noustache!)

lavenderkate · 02/11/2009 22:19

That would be a moustache.

cornsilkwearscorsets · 02/11/2009 22:20

Normal stuff.

Meglet · 02/11/2009 22:20

Normal 'at home' clothes.

A&F track pants and nice jumper. If I wore smart clothes I wouldn't be able to eat much, elasticated waists are the way forward for Xmas food binges.

ClaireDeLoon · 02/11/2009 22:21

umm jeans and a top

We don't do dressing up at Christmas. Some people would say DP doesn't do dressing up ever.

cornsilkwearscorsets · 02/11/2009 22:23

I make the effort to get dressed before midday but only 'cos DH's parents come round. That's quite good for me.

kid · 02/11/2009 22:37

I have copied my sisters tradition and always wear a red top on Christmas day. I tend to start off wearing smart, dressy shoes, but they are usually off before dinner and my slippers are on!

ThatVikRinA22 · 02/11/2009 23:14

i have been known to stay in my PJ's for a couple of days at christmas! i think if i didnt have to go out i would live in them!

when i was younger/thinner/trendier i used to dress up!

Heathcliffscathy · 02/11/2009 23:17

pmsl sally

sparklycherrybomb · 03/11/2009 00:26

um, stay in my pj's until dinner is done, then something nice and sparkly

piprabbit · 03/11/2009 00:38

Our family rule is that you have to wear the clothes you get given on Xmas day...

So presents are opened in PJs and dressing gowns, and then you get dressed.....

Good taste does not come into it, as issues of 'style', 'co-ordination' and so forth are not acceptable excuses for failure to wear gift items.

The only nod to common sense is that we are allowed to supplement gift items with pre-owned items if there are any 'gaps' in your outfit - which was very lucky the year I only got given a pair of pants and some socks .

Amandoh · 03/11/2009 00:47

I don't care that it's only November. I'll join in with you.

I had a throughly miserable Christmas Day last year and didn't even get dressed. With hindsight I think that made me feel even more miserable so this year I'm wearing this. At just £45.00, any gravy covered sprouts that leap off my fork won't have me ringing the Christmas Samaritans.

PoppyIsApain · 03/11/2009 01:00

PJ's normally, but visiting family this year so best make an effort

eidsvold · 03/11/2009 06:51

shorts and a t-shirt, possibly a tank top.

Phoenix4725firestarter · 03/11/2009 08:26

pjs or maybe jeans tshirt am staying home just me and dc so what ever we pull on or dont so could be pjs most of the day

AmazingBouncingFerret · 03/11/2009 08:33

Considering im due to give birth on the 11th December I shall be wearing anything that fits and is comfortable.

bigTillyMint · 03/11/2009 08:39

Like the dress Amandoh

AtleastbeCYBILtoeachother · 03/11/2009 08:43

I don't get this dressing up for Christmas Day thing if you are just at home.

alwayslookingforanswers · 03/11/2009 09:06

christmas is 57 days away (and this IS the Christmas topic ) Plus Advent starts this month.

I usually wear something semi smart - after all the Camera "will" be out. But don't do the getting really dressed up thing after having had it forced onto me as a kid
