Too expensive for us this year , we went the first year and despite some let downs enjoyed it.
Didn't go last year but enjoyed the thread on it and the responses from their pr team
Did anyone go last year ?

Damn, I'm a new MN'er so missed last year. I thought Lapland UK sounded good, green ethics and everything.

Am I sadly deluded? Is it shit and run by gangsters?

Lilyloooohhhh · 19/10/2009 20:03

It wasn't like that when we went cornish.
Just a bit overpriced for what it was (much cheaper then too)
Search for the old threads and see what you think.
They will have made changes now so hopefully the let downs won't be there.
The father xmas meet was magical for us as well as the dc.

eyetunes · 19/10/2009 20:08

Dorothy and co are late joining in this year. But this thread brings back hilarious memories

Lilyloooohhhh · 19/10/2009 21:19

Maybe we scared them away last year

I got follow up email telling me how many great changes they have made this year!!!

Rindercella · 19/10/2009 21:28

£77.50 per ticket?!! Farking hell!!!!

sleepysox · 19/10/2009 21:38

We went last year after reading that the whole place was like Narnia in their PR bunf. Yes- if you're about 2 foot tall it did look all snowy, but for anyone above gnome/ pixy size it looked like a green forest with a snow machine- which was exactly what it was. Santa got Ds's name wrong- he called him by his best friend's name- you had to fill in a form prior to the visit with info such as this and santa had read the form wrongly, plus he had black, greasy hair. Not magical enough for over £70 a ticket. Never again. Wish I'd gone to the New Forest one for entertainment value!

TeamAlesha · 23/10/2009 13:48

It was Dorothy and Robbie from the PR team. That thread last year was ROFL funny - you'll know when their back, as they sign off after posts and - alot!!!

LaurieScaryCake · 23/10/2009 13:51

they got so snippy at being called on it

"soooooooo magical" "best value satan Santa experience"

Pleaaaaase come back and entertain us with your PR bumf

We are going to Lapland for the 1st time this year - age 4 girl, hubby and me. hmm Apparently there was a disasterous Christmas wonderland thing last year which was 'on the news being such a disaster etc.'. Was it Lapland UK Kent?? I hope not! Would anyone who has been to Lapland describe it as a diaster or disappointing?? I have bought the tickets already and spent £270 which is non-refundable.

stressed2007 · 04/11/2009 16:04

confused - is this thread about going to the real lapland?

Lydi · 04/11/2009 16:06

What is the difference between Lapland UK in Kent and any other Lapland in the UK? Is the Lapland UK in Kent the 'best' one? Please help! I booked it and now reading these threads has made me very confused about which one I am going to and whether it is the good or bad one.

Lydi · 04/11/2009 16:08

I am talking about Lapland UK, Kent Bewl Water. I don't know which Lapland the others are talking about, which is why I am confused too! Perhaps everybody is talking about different venues and thus the contradicting opinions ?? Does anyone know what Lapland UK, in Kent is like ?

LIZS · 04/11/2009 16:10

there seem to be 2 in Kent this year - the original one was at Bedgebury 2 years ago then Bewl Water last year. One in the press which closed early last year was in Hants

Hulababy · 04/11/2009 16:15

For a quick reminder: Lapland New Forest

Lapland UK is in kent, yes. I have never been but it wasn't/isn't linked to the above New Forest experience. Think there have been various threads on the Kent experience in the past.

Lydi · 04/11/2009 16:27

Phew! Thanks for that. At least Lapland Kent isn't the same as the New Forest one. What a relief!

devonbelle · 06/11/2009 14:23

We went to Lapland UK with my then 8 year old daughter last year.

Yes, it is expensive but it is so so worth the money. It is truly magical. Don't be put off by people saying it is just fake snow on trees, there is a magic about the place.

From the Toy Workshop, to decoratng gingerbread with Mother Christmas (she was amazing, by the way), to the Saami people with their huskies, the reindeers, the North Pole Post Office, the ice skating, the list is endless and every activity is fantastic.
But when you get taken down individually to Father Christmas' cabin in the woods (no queues here) and sit outside to wait, it is the little details like the hat and walking stick hanging up that make all the difference. Father Christmas is wonderful and the fact that he knows all about the children (my daughter was amazed!!!) adds to the whole experience. The gifts were lovely, the photos reasonable priced and the gift shop too. You can easily spend a whole day there and I must confess to having a tear in my eye several times during our visit.

My daughter was mesmerised, as were we, and, if circumstances allow, we will be going back again this year.

IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WhatDidISayRoy · 11/11/2009 10:10

plenty of spaces left for tickets i see on their website. My friend goes today.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 11/11/2009 10:22

devonbelle, I can't help noticing that you've never posted on Mumsnet before (or not under that name, at any rate).

WhatDidISayRoy · 11/11/2009 10:23

oh.....are we talking dorothy.....?

If so

MamaGoblin · 11/11/2009 17:47

lol at the sheer ... blatant-ness of Devonbelle's post!

Lilyloo · 12/11/2009 19:39

woohoo their back

OP posts:
Meglet · 12/11/2009 19:45

do they think we are as daft as they are?!

zebramummy · 12/11/2009 20:19

"like the hat and walking stick hanging up that make all the difference"

littleducks · 12/11/2009 20:26

Now perhaps i'm being pedantic, but no queues there surely unless you happen to be at the venue at this point in time???
