For us:
Nigella's chocolate and fruit cake - very moist and lovely. Dh declared it the best CHristmas cake ever and neither of us are big fans. Think we'll make another for New Year.

Nigella's wild rice and turkey thing for leftovers with cranberries, nuts and lime. Yummy.

Snowballs (think kiddy truffles) from a kids cook book. Again need to make more.

Nigella's Clementine cake and christmas morning muffins (not that we have them on Christmas am!) are regulars and big hits.

What are yours?

Nigellas cheese strata (sp!) that was a real success

girlandboy · 28/12/2008 19:32

My mince pies of course!

They are legendary. I am the pastry queen of the East Midlands.

blametheparents · 28/12/2008 19:36

I was really pleased with my Christmas cake, a recipe from Good Food magazine

dingdongDOZYMAREishigh · 28/12/2008 20:18

Jamie Oliver's 5 spice goose was a HUGE hit...so much so, we are going to do it again for NYE!!!! Delicious!

higgle · 29/12/2008 13:26

Delia's last minute mincemeat christmas cake - made 2, one for 3 of us and iced it on 23rd and one for DH with gluten free flour on christmas eve - they were both really lovely and the gluten free one was pronounced best gluten free cake ever. Highly recommended for all disorganised procrastinators like me.

These, Xmas cupcakes went down very well.

Earthymama · 29/12/2008 13:51

In the Earthy household this Chestnut Paté en Croute vegetarian Christmas Lunch was a great success, especially with 'Fry Up', pickles and sauces, bothy cranberry and apple on Boxing Day.

Flu sadly meant we've just had soup since Christmas but tomorrow brings DD and DGC to sample this Yummy Pie

(My flu soup recipe..
Potatoes, celariac, swede, carrots, parsnip, leeks, onions, garlic. All peeled and chopped into chunks. Marigold Bouillon.

Saute leeks, onion and garlic in olive oil til softened,
Add other veggies and stir over heat for 2 or 3 mins.
Add bouillion, 2 or 3 tsp and cover veg with hot water.

Cook til all veg are tender, taste and season.

You can add Dumpling or Red Lentils but I like it just as it comes.)

ninedragons · 29/12/2008 13:59

DH stuffed the turkey with a mixture of sausage meat and tabbouleh.

It was blinding.

Bettys Christmas Cake
Bettys Christmas Pudding

The Christmas pudding was better than Nigella's which I've done for the past couple of years. I'm slightly sad that the cake was such a success as I've been using an old family recipe for years but the Bettys one is delicious.

MrsTweedy · 29/12/2008 14:30

(Bettys is a famous Yorkshire tea room for you southerners)

RupertTheBear · 29/12/2008 14:54

We had Betty's pudding too - it was lovely. I was eyeing the cakes for weeks before Christmas but couldn't quite bring myself to spend so much on a cake! Maybe next year...
I always do a chestnut stuffing roll wrapped in bacon that was out of a good food magazine a few years ago - it was lovely.
I made Nigella's brownies and piled them up with candles which was fantastic - we are still eating them now.
Also baked a whole salmon Xmas eve which I haven't done before.

sunnyshine · 29/12/2008 15:43

microwave chocolate fudge! thanks to whoever gave me that one. it was yummy

donnie · 29/12/2008 15:47

tassissss could you post a link to nigella's chocolate and fruit cake recipe ? it sounds lovely! thanks ( or if anyone else has it, TIA).

MrsTweedy · 29/12/2008 16:48

RupertheBear - I made the Bettys pudding and cake from their recipe - I wouldn't spend so much on one either! Very easy to make though the liquid glycerine for the cake was hard to find.

RupertTheBear · 29/12/2008 18:11

Oh thanks - I have bookmarked that page for next year.

blossomsmine · 29/12/2008 21:19

Anyone make Nigellas.......looked like a mountain cake??? Think it was vanilla and she did it in a lovely tin and sprinkled with icing sugar??

mrsmaidamess · 29/12/2008 21:21

The best thing I cooked all week was leftover roast potatoes fried up with sausages and bacon, rosemary and worcestershire sauce. It was hot, crispy, and utterly divine.
