I have my order from tesco due on tuesday. So far in my basket i have £181 and not finished yet. There is no alcohol. Seems a lot of money but every time i try to think of what to remove, i cannot, as i need it all.

£105, including booze and chocolates, liqueurs etc.
Veg from market next Tues will be approx £10 Meat to collect from butcher £20

Moondancer · 21/12/2008 14:38

Why does everyone need sooooooo much food? The shops are only closed 1 (or 2) days. I really cannot understand this.

Gingerbear · 21/12/2008 14:39

We are having three big get togethers and a party. Hence the extras.

geordieminxpie · 21/12/2008 14:40

£160 from Asda on Friday, then probably another £50 in tesco on Tuesday + turkey.

I know its only 1 day, but we have another 6 coming for xmas day and then another 8 for boxing day.

cherryontopofthexmastree · 21/12/2008 15:09

£130 from sainsbury, have to pick up the meat tomorrow which is another £50. to be fair it is to feed nine people on xmas day, and 12 on boxing day.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 21/12/2008 15:10

I spent £123 yesterday, probably still got another £40-50 to spend..........

but once i've spent that £40/50 it will last me through to the end of January

unfitmother · 21/12/2008 15:14

I spent £230 at Sainsburys yesterday!
Did include a PS2 game and lots of booze.

Lauriefairyonthetreeeatscake · 21/12/2008 15:18

£450 in 3 shops - have enough food/drink/ingredients for Christmas presents for at least three weeks.

I do not plan on going out for the next two weeks.

BONKERZ · 21/12/2008 15:27

did a freezer and alcohol and choccie shop on thursday and spent £130, got tesco delivery on Wed which is currently at £85 and then will have to do another shop for new year.
Have lots of people over for christmas and boxing day then a big party new years eve so think ive actually done well on what i have spent!

jenk1 · 21/12/2008 15:30

BellsCarolsNSleighs · 21/12/2008 15:53

sleepyeyes · 21/12/2008 16:02

Food for Christmas dinner and some snacks about £120 and off to spend some more at M&S. The checkout assistant was Pmsl at DH face when she rang it up.

We dont drink but I'm baking a lot to give cookie gifts etc.

i am being uber tight this year as its only the 4 of us...

i am going to do aldi tomorrow to get veg then go to iceland on Tue without dh to get my snacky treats then asda tue evening or wed for the usuals - intotal i am reckoning £90 inc my turkey and beef (i thinnk i am disolusioned). I will be getting mroe in as although the shops are only closed a day or 2 i dont want to go shopping again anytime soon - i am fed up of it all. I will post back the real total later!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 21/12/2008 16:59

I'm frightened to admit it- and bear in mind this will keep me from having to venture out for at least 2wks, and that I have 4 extras staying over new year, and I don't know how long for. oh, and I have a few folk over christmas night

Right, I spent £50 at the fishmongers, £150 at the butchers (and they knocked a bit off for me, cos I'm a good customer ) and £170 at tescos . And that is NOT including much booze. Sigh.

lizziemun · 21/12/2008 17:15

I spent in Asda £69 inc £19 for nappies and wipes.

In Iceland £20. I have bought no more then i would on a normal week, as there is no point buying lots of biscuits or chocolate as they don't get eaten.

needmorecoffee · 21/12/2008 17:22

not done it yet but it will be a sack of pots, nuts for nut roast, frozen peas and a Xmas pud. plus bread and milk and cereal and bogrolls.
Its only 2 days abd we don't eat more on those 2 days than any other day!
So about 30 quid I reckon.

summer111 · 21/12/2008 17:25

Yesterday my Sainsbury's bill came to £160 - thank God I had one of their £8 off vouchers...then the checkout assistant asked if I wanted to use up my rewards which amounted to £27 - wohoo, I'd forgotten about those and almost kissed her for asking me!

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 23/12/2008 12:56

ooo i didnt do to bad - we needed some washing powder and dishwasher tablets and my asda bill came in at £82 - iceland £12 so slightly over my £90 budget. Tom i will sneak to buy my cheeseboard and tell dh work bought me it and pick up my meat so another £12. yee ha - now i am on strike baring a day at work tomorow!

VinoEsmeralda · 23/12/2008 13:01

riverford £26
sainsburys£65
tesco £95
wineshop £17
just over £200 but to feed 9 on Chrismtas Eve, 6 on Christmas day. Including plenty of alcohol

janeite · 23/12/2008 13:04

I'm astonished at how much people seem to spend tbh. We spent £45 in Sainsbo's this morning. That didn't include the Duchy Originals pudding that dp had bought already (yes, a big extravagence but by far the best pudding I've ever had) and a bottle of wine and a bottle of Baileys but did include cakes for dd to take to a party and chocs for the neighbours. It would have been much less but dp went a bit mad buying smoked salmon and beef that only he will eat.

InTheseShoes · 23/12/2008 13:11

I shopped on Saturday for the week including Christmas and Boxing Day i.e. teas etc for the rest of the week too and it came to £110 but that was after using Nectar points of £32.50. We bought booze in Costco again not just for Christmas - £50. Other bits and bobs - another £30 plus £30 to SIL for organic free range turkey reared on her farm. Eight for Christmas Eve, nine for Christmas Day, six for Boxing Day plus visitors planned on 29th and 30th. Will need milk etc before New Year though.

Furball · 23/12/2008 13:12

£70 - waitrose but had free vouchers from something so used those

£79 - sainsburys paid for with reward points

so technically big fat zero
