lljkk · 17/12/2008 20:20

Harry and his Bucket of Dinos books (actually, DS probably prefers Maisie mouse and loads of others, but I like Harry and the Dinos, and frankly, if I buy them, I want to like them too).

Hairy McClary, and other books by Lynley Dodd (same reasons).

GoodWilfToAllMN · 17/12/2008 20:21

Anything by Julia Richardson: as well as Gruffalo, Snail and the Whale, Charlie Cook's Favourite book and Tiddler are our current must-reads. Is the Monkey Puzzle one by her too?

And anything by Jez Alborough - Fix It Duck, When I'm Bigger (I think - about a kite), Big Bro,

Dear Zoo still has to be read at least once a night, as does the Meg and Mog compendium.

I love the Shirley Hughes books, esp Alfie, but the DSs hate them!

We have a great Christmas book called something like Crispin the Pig who had everything.

We also have another wonderful one about Jack Frost which may be called, er, Jack Frost or summat.

GoodWilfToAllMN · 17/12/2008 20:22

Q-Pootle 5 too!

Pannacotta · 17/12/2008 20:23

Thanks all, we have the J Donaldson books (also really like Snail and the Whale).
Will check out Dogger Little Red Train series.
Also I saw the Jolly Postman in Borders, but couldnt open it (was sealed) so good to hear that its for this age range.
Love Night Pirates but my Mum has a copy at hers and wanted it to be special for Grandma's house, which is a shame as its a great book and CD...

My 4 y.o DS loves anything by Julia Donaldson, also the following:

The Tiger Who Came To Tea
We're Going on a Bear Hunt
Handa's Surprise
Anything by Mick Inkpen
Burglar Bill
Monkey Do (also Alan Ahlberg)

The Usborne Apple Tree Farm stories are always popular with my boys but you'll want to shoot yourself after 2 or 3 of them.

His current top favourite Christmas book is this one

wrinklytum · 17/12/2008 20:25
