I am thinking of giving my wonderful cleaner cash and a bottle of wine. For those who are too lazy, slovenly, or busy lucky enough to have a cleaner, what/how much do you give them at Christmas?

OP posts:

I don't have a cleaner any more, but I've only ever given chocolates.

spicemonster · 17/12/2008 14:25

Smellies and double pay. Bit unimaginative but seems to go down quite well

dmo · 17/12/2008 14:28

i got mine a step machine and exercise dvd cause she loves all that
far to much energy for me

dorathesnorer · 17/12/2008 14:33

Well I am a cleaner and have recieved so far this week - box of m&s biscuits, box of Thorntons chocs, wrapped pressies for dds, and also £10 each for dds. I was most pleased with the little wrapped pressies for dds, they're only little craft sets that wouldn't have cost much but it was so thoughtful although dds will be well chuffed with the tenners! Double pay would have gone down very well indeed I must say but I wouldn't expect anyone to do that it's hard enough this time of yr without paying everyone double as well.

A tube of superglue to fix all the things she had broken whilst dropping throwing cleaning them. And chocolates and sweeties for her kids.

dorathesnorer · 17/12/2008 14:34

Wow dmo you're very generous can I come and work for you?!

I usually do double pay and box of chocolates. they'll miss a week over Christmas so it's effectively paid leave.

I'm feeling a bit down on them at the moment so not feeling very Christmassy.

Double time and a card. Got a new cleaner and don't know her well enough to choose a pressie for her.

Guadalupe · 17/12/2008 14:38

Extra £10 and some really nice chocolates. She also bought a present for me and all the dcs which was lovely of her.

FestiveFairyFay · 17/12/2008 14:39

Usually an extra week's money and a bottle of wine/box of chocs

happystory · 17/12/2008 14:40

Double pay and a big box of biscuits for her family

ramonaquimby · 17/12/2008 23:05

blossomsmine · 18/12/2008 09:55

PestoHoHoHoMonster · 18/12/2008 09:57

snickersnack · 18/12/2008 10:01

Paid week's holiday and M&S vouchers. I love our cleaner, she makes me very happy

Cicatrice · 18/12/2008 10:01

£20 and a box of chocolates. It's not double pay for missing a week because she is away for 3.

gagamama · 18/12/2008 11:18

I make myself a cup of tea.

georgiemum · 18/12/2008 13:34

Ok so you have all shamed my into it. One weeks pay (extra that it), tin of shortbread and chocs for the kids.

She'd better not break anything today...

HarktheHarrogateMumissinging · 18/12/2008 13:36

bottle of wine and a gushing message in the Christmas card.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 18/12/2008 13:38

We don't have a cleaner any more, but I used to give ours a big box of nice biscuits.

georgiemum · 18/12/2008 16:53

... and I didn't even get a card from her...

TheYearOfTheCat · 18/12/2008 19:30

Wine & 3 weeks extra pay.

npg1 · 18/12/2008 19:40

A bottle of wine and double pay for the week. I also give a small gift to her children. Maybe some chocs

Sycamoretree · 18/12/2008 19:44

Body shop for my cleaner and a pretty lunchbox tin with biscuits in for her DD. Then two weeks pay which she won't have to work for (so two weeks off). Previous years she's had cash on top of wages off, but can't afford it this year.
