dizzyjingles · 16/12/2008 23:51

dd3 who is only 20wks old only has one present which cost £15 and thats so DD1 and DD2 don't think that Santa is a complete stinge and hasn't brought her anything!

Tortington · 16/12/2008 23:52

i biy them what they want if i can afford it - nothing to do with cost - althouigh there is an upper limit.

the baby doesn't know so whatever you buy is really for your own pleasure

cherryontopofthexmastree · 16/12/2008 23:55

no real limit, just what i can afford to spend really. if its £50 thats fine, if i can afford £200 thats fine too

£40 was the limit really, plus about £20 for stocking fillers. Luckily I found a great Lego fire station set for the money so I think DS will be happy.

BananaFruitBat · 17/12/2008 00:06

God alone knows. I'm scared to look at the bank account.

melpomene · 17/12/2008 00:07

£50 or so for each dd on 'big' presents, plus another £25 or so on each stocking.

mummychristmas · 17/12/2008 00:31

i have hidden them all over my flat. keep finding different bits now. hes so worth it though.

TeenyTinyTorya · 17/12/2008 00:34

99p on a really nice book, and about £2 for a giant pencil. Pirate ship and cars were free second hand from a friend. Ds is 21mths.

purpleflower · 17/12/2008 00:35

I've spent £15 on DS 2.2 and nothing yet on DD 10weeks. I got it mainly from the charity shop and poundland.

It was all I could spend without getting us into more debt.

TeenyTinyTorya · 17/12/2008 00:40

I've done the same, purple. Poundland is brilliant, especially with all the books and DVDs.

purpleflower · 17/12/2008 00:44

At least I'm not the only one I did nearly all my christmas shopping in poundland. I got him some craft bits and some fridge magnets, I thought he would enjoy unwrapping lots of small bits rather than one big bit. His favourite part of his birthday was unwrapping.

UnfortunatelyMe · 17/12/2008 01:10

About £60-70 I think.

I prefer the 99p shop, it has much better toys for the price lol. No really it's fecking great,I've gone off the pound shop since it opened.

Well for dd I have spent around £80 on a dolls house and a playmobil plane.

Ds has a Thomas take along thingy which was half price, a playmobil set featuring a boat and helicopter and stuff and a playmat with cars. which came to about £70.

Plus assorted pound shop stuff. Which I think is resonable.

We also got a wii and a couple of games, which we will call dd's but is really for all
of us.

BlackLetterDay · 17/12/2008 02:24

Oh and dd wanted and still wants fur real biscuit my loving pup, which retails at around £130. Am I being evil not getting her it? will she be in therapy at 30 for it? But I'm sorry I refuse to spend £130 on an overgrown soft toy that will moulder in a corner when the novelty has worn off.

In my defence dd pestered and insisted she wanted wall-e toys for her birthday, which she hasn't so much as looked at since. Phew.

BreevandercampLGJ · 17/12/2008 06:22

DS (7) is a one and only and we have spent just over £100, which imo is not unreasonable considering he is not a very materialistic child and does not ask for "stuff" during the year.

bollockbrainASSofBETHLEHEM · 17/12/2008 06:26

i seem to be spending more and more each year. have bought half of the plastic in taiwan i think.

When they were tiny though just a couple of bits, as it really makes no difference and they seem to love the wrapping paper more than the actual pressie.

IAteTheWholeSelectionBox · 17/12/2008 07:00

DS (17 months) got warm winter shoes this week so that's his present. On the day I've got him a wee car and a book and some stickers for the bath. Probably another £7 or £8 pounds.

He'll get silly amounts of stuff from grannies and aunties, and he still doesn't have a clue what it's all about anyway.

BouncingTinsel · 17/12/2008 07:16

We've bought Xmas and birthday pressies for my ds as his birthday is the day after Boxing day. We have just bought a couple of things for his birthday, we've decided that he won't get his main present until the summer and have asked the family if they could leave getting him birthday presents until the summer and get him something for the age he'll be then (18mo).
Best present I have got him I think is a ball pool - £1.50 for a paddling pool from woolies, and 2 bags of balls from the NCT nearly new sale at £1 each! Bargain!
He loves the ball pool at nursery and the soft play we go to so he'll have lots of fun in this one

LadyLauraStandish · 17/12/2008 07:24

I've spent about £50 on each of mine (aged 11 and 9).

When they were tiny I didn't buy anything at all!

hecAteAMillionMincePies · 17/12/2008 07:26

£200 each this year, which sounds a lot, but they've only got 10 things each , plus a stocking full of crappy plastic shite from hawkins

Everything is so expensive these days. I know as a mner I am supposed to hate spending money on christmas presents, and buy them a book and an orange and ridicule those who buy loads but I'll admit it, I LOVE a big pile of presents under the tree and I wish I could afford to get them a lot more.

flaminhell · 17/12/2008 07:27

ds 1 is 13, he has had £300, dd is 3 she has had about £100 ish.

Me and dp £0

jingleMAMADIVAsbells · 17/12/2008 07:35

Same here buy what I can afford and that's it.

DS is 2.5YO so we are making the most of the being able to buy cheaper things rather than having to buy from 'Santas list' [DREAD EMOTICON]

This year I spent £45 including some essentials for his stocking and I got some really good bargains from Ebay it's not like my son cares, I bought a Little Tikes Road n Rail mountain for £4.50 from Ebay saving me £15.

I can't een remember what I've bought actually LOL.

4CALLINGBIRDSandnotout · 17/12/2008 07:44

We have spent roughly £90 each on dd's 1'2 &3 who are 7,3 15 months and £30 on a new coat and couple of outfits for dd4 (8 weeks) We have been bought a wii too but that is for all of us. We have been buying bits and pieces as we see them so it hasn't been all in one go.
