My DM and I save £10 every week and then buy all the present but we do have a large family

Not sure how much I have spent on DD but my Dm's bedroom looks like Santa's grotto atm, but will not be so bad once we have handed out the families presents

JollyPirate · 17/12/2008 07:52

I've spent about £100 but DS has a birthday on 20th December so half of it is on that.

He's got a Kiddizoom Camera for his birthday and some books.

For Xmas he's got a Millenium Falcon (NOT the £150 version I hasten to add) and some extras for his wooden train track.

However, this being the first Xmas I have been a single parent there is another load of stuff coming from Daddy - so am guessing that he's actually had far more spent on him.

i don't really know either! I've been buying stuff on ebay, picking up bits & pieces as i see them in the shops since late October, not to mention pressies from aunts, uncles, godparents, grandparents... I dread Xmas morning with wails of "That's NOT FAIR! Sister got MORE than meeeeee!"

LadyPenelope · 17/12/2008 08:15

Thanks to this thread I just added it up and it's 75 quid each. I'm going to take a couple of things back to bring in down to 50 which is more reasonable for us this year. They still have lots of lovely things.

DD also getting a new computer which is 300 quid because me and DH use ours for work and don't want the kids using it.

Thanks MN, you just saved us 50 pounds!

annemarie30 · 17/12/2008 08:18

I've spent just under £30 on DD but I have no idea how much I've spent on DS1 and DS2 It was only meant to be a limit of £70 maximum each (they are 11 and 3) but I've bought extra without thinking.I bought a doll for DS2 yesterday and now I'm panicking that DS1 might have less than DS2...so stupid really lol.

That's weird ... 3 times over!

ComeWhineWithMe · 17/12/2008 08:22

DS £100.00 (but this includes football tickets)

DD1 £80.00

DD2 and 3 around £70.00 each

DD4 £70.00

They have about 5 presents each and we have also bought three wii games because my Mum and Dad have got them the console so this cost £40.00

Stocking fillers for all 5 £28.00 .

annemarie30 · 17/12/2008 08:24

ComeWhine I spent about the same on my 3 Dc stocking fillers

ComeWhineWithMe · 17/12/2008 08:28

Homebargains all the way for SF here .

LunarSea · 17/12/2008 08:28

Less than last year! Well ds1 didn't need a new bike this year. All in I was expecting it to be about £200 between the 2 boys - skewed a bit more in favour of ds1 (7) as ds2 (20 months) has inherited so much nice stuff that he doesn't really need as much "new". But adding it up I think it's actually worked out less as have picked up so many bits at sales and car boots etc (bought lots of brand new books from an Usborne seller who was giving up for £1 each for example).

TheVirginGoober · 17/12/2008 08:29

Over £300 each, but they have no other buying relatives so we do overcompensate. Some of it is DVDs so benefit us all.

PaddingtonBore · 17/12/2008 08:31

£30 including stocking. DD is 21mo. TBH a fair proportion of her presents are things she needed - a couple of t-shirts, new toothbrush, tights, hairclips.

DH's shopaholic mother has apparently bought an obscene amount of stuff (DD is her only grandchild) and we're just wondering whether we can get away with hiding some of it for redistribution throughout thr year.

GooseyLoosey · 17/12/2008 08:50

About £60 each I think. They will also get presents from 3 sets of grandparents and 2 Godparents. This amounts to an awful lot of stuff and I'm thinking maybe too much.

However, in mid-Nov each year I do make the dcs sort through their toy boxes and we fill a bag full of toys to take to the charity shop. Mean mummy!

HaventSleptForAYear · 17/12/2008 16:33

Do it Paddington. We did this with DS1 when he was 2 and it worked a treat.

I have so far bought our 2DS an eggcup each and some felt-tips...

So about 10E.

DS1 (4) may or may not want a bike so I'm waiting til he's sure (in the Spring).

DS2 doesn't need anything.

My parents are bringing them a couple of pressies each and there are various aunts and uncles who will give stuff too.

Neither of mine seem to "want" anything or need anything right now.

conniedescending · 17/12/2008 16:37

I've spent £50ish on 4....aged 6,6, 2 and 1. That's about £12.50ish each for stockings and a I got under the tree stuff from freecycle.

HensMum · 17/12/2008 16:41

DS is 14 months and we've spent about £65. £45 of that was on a tricycle, the rest on books, some finger paints and a cheap CD. He's also getting a really nice shape sorter that I got free a couple of months ago from a book club. I could easily spend more but have been restrained as I know he'll get tons from the rest of the family and our house already looks like an ELC!

HeadFairy · 17/12/2008 16:41

I've spent £20 on a pirate ship from John Lewis. Dh got a bit excited and has opened it already, so I feel a bit mean that he won't have anything to open from us on Christmas morning (he's 15 months, so he won't remember and there'll be tons of other presents to open) however if I do see something he likes before Christmas I might buy it, anything up to another £20 I suppose. He loves his pirate ship though

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 17/12/2008 16:46

£110.
Was supposed to be £80 but really I blame dh for not accompanying me on my shopping trip. I spotted a really really good book on WWI and wWII that I know dd will love and then I accidentally went into Build-a-bear and now her teddy will be dressed as an angel.

/sigh.
I'm such a sucker.

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 17/12/2008 16:48

was doing reallywell on £50 per child until dd1 decided she didnt wanta balance bike[£23] she wanted a dora bike with peddles. Typically day after she was in hospital and had to have chest xrays I could hold her with being pg so student nurse who was helping told her santawould deffo bring what she wanted. Cue dh and I spending the next day searching the northwest for the blooming bike which was £60 buthad a £25 voucher and am giving dd2 the balance bike so suppose it works out to be ok..

scorpio1 · 17/12/2008 16:49

£100 on each child, and £60 on the baby.

yummybunnymummy · 17/12/2008 17:44

around £40 on each ds (4 and 3yrs). I've spent ages collecting bargins and lucky finds from charity shops, and would love to spend more but its enough...what really gets to me is people we know who spend £200-300 on each child and then go on and on and on about how little money they have and their overdraft etc...christmas is soooo much more than how much you've spent....

Clayhead · 17/12/2008 18:20

£25 each, 2 children, 5 & 7
