Hmm I was thinking about this today. Was thinking we might do something spicy - Malaysian curry, Thai spicy crab cakes, that sort of thing. Not sure what to have for dessert though.

MrsBadger · 04/12/2008 19:24

we always have a baked camembert

Comma · 04/12/2008 19:26

I find a barbequed badger is nice

GooberKingWenceslas · 04/12/2008 19:27

ALWAYS have chili and rice, followed by a christmassy ice cream shape, snowman or tree shaped.

missingtheaction · 04/12/2008 19:31

Goose - because the DCs are at their dad's and they hate Goose, so we are having Beef with them on Xmas day and grownup meal on Xmas eve. Yum yum

DH and I normally have champagne and canapes after kiddies are in bed
Kiddies will have a 'special buffet' similar to yours.

madAngelHairday · 04/12/2008 19:37

We always have huge cooked breakfast, then the rest of the day buffet picnic style nibbly bits. and the baileys of course

shoptilidrop · 04/12/2008 19:59

Ham. egg and chips. I usually cook nigellas ham in cherry coke ( it is lovely, despite sounding weird) on xmas eve.. so you have to try a bit!

janeite · 04/12/2008 20:00

We do buffet/picnic bits too; after carols on the village green. The buffet mainly consists of hot veggie sausage rolls, salads, breads, cheese etc and then LOTS of puddings!

Sparkletastic · 04/12/2008 20:01

Christmas cocktails and hot and cold nibbles - some sophisticated and some less so (for the kids)

nannyeggnogg · 04/12/2008 20:03

Fajitas, salad, hummus, dips, olives etc.

And maybe even a small sherry

mashedbanana · 04/12/2008 20:07

after christingle service we have a chinese takeaway and bottle of nice wine .

roundcornvirgin · 04/12/2008 20:16

I'm having mulled wine with some brandy in, nice cheese, dips and nibbles. mmmmmmm

bollockbrainASSofBETHLEHEM · 04/12/2008 20:17

we always have a chinese or curry after doing the visiting rounds, we pick one up on the way home.

ben5 · 04/12/2008 20:18

spag bol or a curry and lots of wine. hopefully grandparents are babysitting

ingles2 · 04/12/2008 20:20

we always have tartiflette.

Comma · 04/12/2008 20:21

why do people have this " we always do this"
business.

bollockbrainASSofBETHLEHEM · 04/12/2008 20:24

because we always do!

how else can i say it?

ingles2 · 04/12/2008 20:36

because we always do!
for the last 8 years anyway. We can only have it once a year because calorie wise you might as well eat a pat of butter.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 04/12/2008 20:38

Whatever our chalet hosts are cooking for us - we're spending Christmas in Morzine with both families this year

cherryontopofthexmastree · 04/12/2008 20:41

how do i bake a camembert? and what do i do with it once it is baked???

BreevandercampLGJ · 04/12/2008 20:41

We generally have Fish Pie.

Now, who is wearing what on Christmas Day at what time do you change for lunch/dinner ??

Ooh I feel a thread coming on....

MrsMattie · 04/12/2008 20:46

Usually have fish for dinner, and lots of wine

GColdtimer · 04/12/2008 20:48

cherry, keep it in the cardboard thingy, unwrap the top, stab it with a knive a few times, insert very fine slices of garlic, flood it with white wine (in reality, you won't fit much in), wrap it back up and pop in a medium oven for about 30 mins . Everyone delves in with crusty bread. Calorific but lovely.

That's how I do mine anyway!
