I was thinking about the new Chalenj one but as its new I don't know if its any good or not .

It is for my parents and two sisters and they have the usual suspects

I wanted to order it on line and get it delivered

Thank you

Not sure what counts as the 'usual suspects' but these games are a big hit with the adult kids in my family:

Absolute Balderdash
Scattergories
Articulate

They're easy enough to adapt to kids too.

cranium is hilarious

or waht about a dvd game like scene it

Blinglovin · 02/12/2008 15:12

Articulate is excellent, I agree.

We're also loving Snatch-It. It isn't a board game as such in that there's no board! . It's got tiles like for scrabble. And it's cheap and easily deliverable on Amazon.

kiwibella · 02/12/2008 15:14

I popped in to say Cranium too - it's such a fun, family game!!

MiaWallace · 02/12/2008 15:23

Taboo

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 02/12/2008 15:26

Mah Jong is fab but complicated - I can't remember any rules but loved playing it years ago...the tiles are lovely

llareggub · 02/12/2008 15:27

I second Balderdash. It always goes down well. I find Cranimum a bit complicated. I like to keep games simple!

mummyplonk · 02/12/2008 15:30

Cranium is great I third it! a bit of everything for everyone, questions, miming, singing, blindfolded drawing...(got mine cheap on e-bay)

Wallace · 02/12/2008 15:34

Articulate
Cranium

not a board game, but Boggle

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 02/12/2008 15:35

I loved Balderdash ! also Boggle...
Does Ex Libris still exist ? it's where you write the beginning lines or endings of real books to convince people that yours is the true writing - fantastic fun !

youknownothingofthecrunch · 02/12/2008 15:36

"The Very Nasty Horse Racing Game" is brilliant - although very nasty

christMAScomesbutonceayear · 02/12/2008 15:37

ex libris here

Nagapie · 02/12/2008 15:37

Another vote for Articulate and Balderdash

travellingwilbury · 02/12/2008 15:50

Thank you , sorry by the usual suspects I meant monolopy , scrabble , cranium

I am talking to you all like I talk to my OH , I think he is a mind reader too .

I like the idea of the nasty horse racing game . They can be quite spiteful in their game playing so sounds up their street .

No one bought chalenj yet then ?

cranium....!
gets my mother laughing and shes the most sour faced prune on the earth (i am allowed to say that cause its true)

everyone always has a great time and theres no 'intelligence' level required (always my anxiety!)

flatmouse · 02/12/2008 16:14

We enjoyed "Da Vinci Code" - harder than some other games
Also enjoy "really nasty horse racing game"
and Cranium
Played "spot the intro" (the one wiht board and cards as well as CD) at the weekend, really enjoyed that (but need musical knowledge)

pooka · 02/12/2008 16:15

Articulate. Is brill.

pooka · 02/12/2008 16:15

Rapidough is good too - like pictionary but with playdough.

Pinktastic · 02/12/2008 17:03

We find Uno is always a hit when the family gets together....it's also a game that I never win!!!

DBXmum · 02/12/2008 17:27

Risk, Backgammon (boring suggestion I know but you'll be surprised just how addictive it is!).

Blinglovin · 02/12/2008 18:16

Backgammon - addictive? No no, can't be true. I do not crow wildly while kicking DP's butt. No, I don't. Neither does he. We've never got so involved we're fighting it out for best of 50....!

Lizzylou · 02/12/2008 18:18

Balderdash and Boggle are my faves

mumwhereareyou · 02/12/2008 20:06

Rummkib (Sp) a fanatastic number game that is brillant whenever we have friends we get it our and play for hours with it.

Littlefish · 02/12/2008 20:14

Pass the bomb is great. It says from age 8 or something like that, but we always play it on New Years Eve when all the children have gone to bed! Particularly great if you have drinking forfeits!

Lukesmammy · 02/12/2008 20:48

Definitely articulate
