Was going to do a lucky dip, but find that all the lucky dip things you buy are pretty crappy, tbh.

Any other ideas what I could do for our stall? Already doing face painting and a raffle and selling sweets and juice, but wanted to do a gamey type thing too. help!

Ring toss was a great sucess at our fair last year with both kids and adults. We had juice bottles, wine, spririts and tubes of sweets - kids could swap for another prize if they won alcohol.

Flier · 07/11/2008 13:37

hmm, thats do-able, thanks HMOO.

any other ideas?

lucky dip - i agree all tat, but kids LOVE it. use party bag stuff.

we also like tattoos, nail bar and craft things from baker ross.

dustystar · 07/11/2008 13:38

Bat the rat was popular at our school fete.

Flier · 07/11/2008 13:39

but how much do you charge for your lucky dip? most things from baker ross cost more than £1, I was hoping to charge jut £1.

what is bat the rat?

tassisssss · 07/11/2008 13:45

we bought a lot of party bag bits from the supermarkets and woolies - so parachute men, yoyos, hair things, braclets, stickers, pencils etc. Wrapped them in blue or pink paper which I realise is sexist but reckoned boys wouldn't want bracelets! Used big plastic bucket thing and shredded paper. Charged £1 and each child got a wee sweet of thier choice from a bowl. They just loved it. We made a huge amount and got rid of all the gifts. One kid was quoted as saying "I keep winning at the lucky dip"!!

dustystar · 07/11/2008 13:46

You make a rat out of an sock or stocking filled with cotton wool and you drop him down the top of a length of pipe. The child has to hit the rat with a stick as it comes out of the bottom of the pipe to win.

Flier · 07/11/2008 13:46

thanks tassisssss

still want to know what bat the rat is - and still looking for any other ideas

beat the goalie is popular too if you have space

tattoos were big money spinner and very simple

hair brading?

santa's grotto?

purpleduck · 07/11/2008 13:55

Balloon popping -there is prize (a bit of paper saying what they have won -small sweet, a go at another game etc) in each balloon -they pop the balloon. Not every balloon has a prize, 10p for each balloon.

Blowing maltesers with a straw into goals - 2 play at a time

I can't remember! I am always stuck at a stall!!!

Kids love the lucky dip we ask parents of certain year groups to bring in lucky dip prizes - sometimes we get some

dustystar · 07/11/2008 13:56

Baker ross do fundraising packs for things like this. Look here it can work out at much less than £1 a toy. The kids don't care if its tat anyway.

Flier · 07/11/2008 14:00

hmm, lots to think of, thanks everyone.

What do you think of this?

Lucky Dip - but with pieces of paper which will say either a sweet or a prize, will save us having to wrap the prizes

dustystar - knowing our locals they would complain about the violence for beat the rat

OP posts:
dustystar · 07/11/2008 14:01

It does sound violent reading my post but its not reallu lol. It doesn't even look like a rat just a stuffed sock They always have it at the fun days at our local Baptist church so it can't be too bad

SoupDragon · 07/11/2008 14:02

A piece of paper will be difficult to find though and half the fun is rummaging about in the bin of shredded paper.

Flier · 07/11/2008 14:03

dustystar - that pack looks very good value - I may just bit the bullet and buy it.

Does anyone know where I can get cheap helium from? was thinking balloons may go down well too.

Decorate your own christmas bauble??

Flier · 07/11/2008 14:04

2cats - that may work, would need to price the stuff for it though

OP posts:
2cats2many · 07/11/2008 14:06

I bet poundland or somewhere similar do cheap baubles. Glitter pens are pretty good for doing the decorating.

nymphadora · 07/11/2008 14:07

That card/chocolate thing.

Chocs of all sizes on cards and you choose a card and winthe choc it matches.
Can use all sizes from huge bars to celebrations.

Flier · 07/11/2008 14:09

nymphadora - do you mean like playing cards upside down? and they pick one? sorry to be dense

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 07/11/2008 14:10

jar stall, ring toss, that thing where you throw a ball and knock stuff over, pinata, skittles, getting a basketball in the net, penalty shoot out, skipping races (person to do 10 skips in shortest time or something) guess how many sweets in a jar, name the teddy, pay to have photos with santa, a table where you can paint plates/mugs/xmas cards/decorations etc

nappyaddict · 07/11/2008 14:12

oh and if you could get one of those metal things where you have to get the hoop to the end without touching the sides that would be a good one.

is at a school/church? you could have soak the teacher/vicar/priest etc

Flier · 07/11/2008 14:13

wow thanks nappyaddict - are you a veteran church fete-er?
