Books. But give us some ages?

elsiepiddock · 02/11/2008 19:49

I too have about that many kids to buy for, 'tis a nightmare. Plus about the same again for adults.

I buy lots of books and clothes.

Last year I bought several of these 'Hot Hugs' and they went down very well.

threetinytots · 02/11/2008 20:10

You need to go to boots and look at their 3 for 2, you'd get 6 presents free then!

Tortington · 02/11/2008 20:10

hawkins bazaare

LIZS · 02/11/2008 20:11

Boots 3 for 2's include elc toys

mammyofET · 02/11/2008 20:11

I'm not sure if it is the same for you, but many of the 15 children that I buy for get lots of gifts from lots of people and I'm never quite sure whether I'll duplicate a gift or whether they're even still into the latest Ben10, Night garden etc.

With this in mind I go for clothes and a cheap gift eg: Pj's (you can never have too many pairs) and a sticker book / fancy crayons.

The ages range from new born (yesterday...ahhhh) 2, 4, 5,up to the age of 15 who i have absolutely NO idea of what to get for her.
All Godchildren, family children or very very close family children.
I have saved up my boots points, got about £15 on that i think,
Got a £10 Asda card,
got £20 on paypal that i earned from an online survey company, so thought of Amazon for that (or some such like)
Got £200 that i have saved up all year (saving my 50p coins )
So im going to hit B&M bargains this week.
Book people sound good as well, can i spend my paypal with them?

BibiThree · 02/11/2008 20:42

I know you'rve said it's godchildren and close family, but thought this might help others in same situation.

Last year we had far too many children to buy for and usually spent about £15 per child, and we were looking at £300+. So I suggested to my friends that we just did birthdays. Christmas is so crazy, children get so much they don't know who gives what anyway, so we just do that now. It doesn't really work out much cheaper as I tend to send more on birthdays but at least it spreads the cost.

deanychip · 02/11/2008 20:46

Thats a great idea but not something that i would feel comfortable discussing with the adults.
I try to keep it to £10 per child, and start shopping now.

I bow to your wisdom though, thanks.

I don't think you can go wrong with books-especially if you get ones with a big discount.

pointydog · 02/11/2008 20:57

I'd give 'em all a fiver. They'll be happy with cash and you'll half your budget

choosyfloosy · 02/11/2008 21:30

That's £180!! £10 on a newborn?? Please hold back! I'd suggest 3 pairs of Christmassy red socks (always used to be 3 pairs for £5 in the Gap and parents always need more socks IMO. Also good for the 2-year-old! 3 for 2 books for the others should keep it at least to £6 per child.

£10 on a fifteen year old, perhaps. Is she a reader? Try leading her on a little bit from whatever she is reading... e.g. if she likes science fiction/fantasy, what about The Time Machine by HG Wells, which is a good read? A Boots voucher is boring to give but fantastic to receive at that age IMO.
