Help me think of 24 Christmassy things to do ...

As a result of various gifts, our two girls now have three refillable cloth advent calendars between them. And I'd quite like to use them all, but don't want to fill them all with tat/chocolate/money!

So I'm thinking that one of them will have 24 little cards in the pockets, with a "thing to do today" written on them. Some of them will be useful (like "remind Mummy that today is the last day for posting cards ") Some of them will be just for fun (e.g. "snuggle up in a duvet and watch The Snowman") and some of them might be a bit serious.

Any ideas? Will this work or is it too cheesy?!

Yanda · 02/11/2008 19:32

Fantastic idea! You HAVE to watch Santa Claus the movie, its my favourite! Get in some lovely hot chocolate and some marsmallows and cream then snuggle down and watch

Do a Christmas kindness each - just aim to do something for someone else that is just kind. Like buy the person behind you in the queue their coffee or help someone to carry their shopping or something else similar.

Make non-alcoholic mulled wine, lots of recipes online.

Email Santa (!)

Make paperchains

Go and look at the christmas lights on all the houses nearby.

Smithagain · 02/11/2008 19:33

Am liking these! Yes, we are religious. So I guess I can get the diary out and work out which days we put "go to carol service", "go to Christingle" etc

I might also have a few that are nothing to do with Christmas, just to remind us that life goes on!!! Like "See if you can go for a whole day without asking how many days it is till we put the Christmas tree up"

Make mum a cup of tea
Make a bookmark
Choose a charity to donate old toys to

choosyfloosy · 02/11/2008 19:40

Absolutely lovely idea - luckily stealing sharing this idea is undoubtedly in the spirit of Christmas...

learn to sing a new carol and sing it to your parents

send a Christmas card to someone who has not found any room at the inn (e.g. via The Revd. Sarah Parkinson, The Chaplain, Campsfield House, Langford Lane, Kidlington, Oxon OX5 1RE tel: 01865 233637 but you will of course know of loads more possibilities)

make paper snowflakes (one of the few crafty things I know how to do!)

barnsleybelle · 02/11/2008 19:48
